    perfectly explained, thanks a lot man. Just had one question transferring catalogue to distrokid from another distributor. What if one song I am transferring across is a cover song being ONLY uploaded to Spotify? I know that Spotify automatically sorts out mechanical licenses, so is it okay to simply choose that its an original and then include the original writers in the metadata? I don't know if choosing the cover option will mess up the transfer process, since distro is one of the only ones that have that service.

      @@tomdupreeiii I was thinking about changing to distro from amuse but my concern is royalty splits that I have set up already since everybody had to make amuse accounts for their cut..will distro add them on? And also if you have a lot of songs to release but not really the amount of money to do Ads how you want should you wait to release or go ahead with what you can do?

    Hey Tom, thanks for this! I reuploaded to DistroKid and I got that screen that says "This album was successfully processed and delivered to stores." However, at the bottom, there is a list of stores but none of them are hyperlinked. Should I wait until Spotify or one of the other stores is hyperlinked before taking music down from the old distributors? Or should I just take it down now?

    Hi Tom, I notice that most distributors recommend to takedown previously released content (from another distributor) *before* submitting it to them to (re)-distribute, and they indicate that by doing such, the playcounts and playlsits would still remain the same (assuming the metadata is copied accurately, etc).
    Is there any risk to having the 'double upload' time in between the new upload and the takedown of previous, as you recommend, such as, flags by outlets whereby both releases could being taken down temporarily? Why do distributors make this recommendation to takedown old content first; should the distributors' advice be followed at all, or is that a bad idea? thanks!

    • @tomdupreeiii
      @tomdupreeiii  Před 2 lety +3

      I definitely wouldn't pull material down from one distributor until you've uploaded it at the new one. I think that's bad advice. You want to make sure your bases are covered. If you take it down first before you upload it in the new spot, there's a risk you'll lose that data.
