Thanks for all the great videos here and for GarageBand, Pete! Really helpful! Question, do you have a video that shows how to replace a song that is already uploaded as a track within an Album? I saw your videos for replacing singles, but haven't found a good video for modifying songs in an album. Thanks so much!
Unfortunately the only way to do this is to remove and re-upload the entire album. studiolivetoday.com/distrokid
Iâm âcheatingâ a little bit at Songtember by starting my Songtember song a week early. My challenge for myself this year is to create record and release the song BY September 2nd or even 1st - which, despite me calling it âcheating,â is actually harder because thereâs only five days to do that đ€Ż
But I really want the song to release through Amuse within September, which is only (hopefully) possible if I submit it on September 1st or 2nd (it would then presumably release on September 29th or 30th). I donât want to upload anything to CZcams directly and donât currently have the money for anything like DistroKid.
This song is catchy af though lol
Iâm calling it Songtember 2: âElectric MooMooâ
Very cool! The rules of Songtember are... there are no rules!
Hey Pete love your content as always could you make a vedio on how to upload your music in 2020 through amuse
Hey there. Yes, Iâll be exploring Amuse again in the coming weeks as they have given me access to the Pro plan to check out.
@@PeteJohnsMusic Thanks Pete :)
Excellent video bro! thanks. Question, are plays from previous singles inherited by the ones in the album?
Generally not. Each release is usually treated separately.
đ„đ„đ„đ„
đ€đ
First of all you are a great youtuber and you are the best because you answer all the comments!!! Now, I would like to ask if I can release the songs of my album each one seperately, or i must release the album with all the songs instantly??
You can release individual songs as singles and then release them all again as an EP or album. Or do this the other way round. But keep in mind that they are treated completely separately.
Hi Pete! Quick question if you donât mind? If I paid for things like CZcams Content ID etc and then want to bring the songs together as an album, would I have to pay again for the same things on the album upload?
Hey there. For some things yes but Content ID remains covered for the singles so you donât need it again on an album version of the same song. studiolivetoday.com/distrokid
May Jah Bless you. I was looking for that Kinna info, finally! Thank you. I have CD Baby I wonder would I be able to download the master song from them? my Main Question is what if i have 5 songs but one of them I donât want it to be available for streaming or for CZcams monetization would they give me an option for each song?
Hey there. Unfortunately Iâm not very proficient with CD Baby I recommend DistroKid. studiolivetoday.com/distrokid
Fantastic, super helpful. I'm looking in Distrokid after walking through this and notice that the old singles are still there. Do I need to do anything with those "singles" in Distrokid now that they're packaged together as an EP?
You can remove them or leave them. Thereâs really no major issues with having multiple versions of the same song released.
@@PeteJohnsMusic and will the âstream countâ be tied together? Like if someone listens to the ep version, will that reflect on the single? Thank you very much
Does it automatically remove the singles when it realises you have duped it as an EP, or do you then do that manually? Big thing here is to keep hold of the play counts
Nope. It generally treats as a separate release. Play counts might be separate for the single and album version it that doesnât affect much. studiolivetoday.com/distrokid
Hey Pete! Thank you for helping us out with your good videos. What you explain in this video is exactly what I want to do soon, but before doing so I tried out a re-upload through DistroKid using my old ISRC number. With that method I should keep my former stream counts, shouldnât I? Is that something what needs a bit of time to re-appear? Because right now I am on zero counts. I re-uploaded last Monday and from today it appears in Spotify. I actually tried this out - before assembling a album - with a song which needed replacement with also a relative low count number. Cheers! detmar
Hey there. The system is pretty imperfect. It should sync to your previous plays but thereâs no guarantees.
@@PeteJohnsMusic Hi Pete, since today this particular song updated to its original numbers. So it works! Thank you. Did you mention somewhere that you can only update it once? This was my idea: I rebooted this one song because of a similar glitch like in your song from the tutorial. This song is part of an album (to come). I released 6 songs, movements as we classical musicians say, as singles. I want to group them in an album but before this I wanted to replace every single one with the last version with a slightly better mastering. So is this a good idea: first replace the singles with the remastered version and then schedule for 2 weeks later the album version (with the same remastered singles of course) like you discuss in this particular tutorial? I hope I am clear with my question. And why this schedule? I want to do some ads with the remastered singles before the album launch. One of the songs featured already in an editorial Spotify playlist. In the end the album release would immediately start with some good numbers. What do you reckon?
Thanks for this information Pete! So am I right to think that it is not possible to release an album track by track until they are all released? As opposed to using your strategy of releasing single by single, then reuploading all of them into an album format?
You can release an album and then individual singles separately as well. But you canât do what some of the bigger artists do which is have an album with some tracks greyed out for future release.
Hi Pete! Did you keep your plays on Spotify during re-releasing after all? Thank you!
Hey there. I never actually checked sorry. I know itâs important to other folks but Iâve never really worried about it. Iâll try to investigate in the future.
Hi Pete! Thanks so much for this vid:) I'm planning on releasing a lead single for my album at first and adding an additional single to it after a bit so that they both appear on the same tracklisting as if it were an A-side and B-side and then release the whole album with both those singles on it. This would mean releasing the lead single, then re-releasing it with the "B-side" and then releasing it again for a final time as part of the album, this time not deleting the "single avec b-side" version but releasing both with the same ISRC code so that they share the same streams. Do you think releasing that first single 3 separate times with the same ISRC code will piss off the fat cats down at DistroKid?
Hey there. So it all boils down to the fact that as long as you donât have two releases with the same tracks in the same order youâre golden. Makes releasing singles and then EPs quite a good way to go.
Hello Pete! thank you so much for this video!
quick question, can I release a single on Friday (the third single of the upcoming album) and the album on the following Monday? or do albums have to released on Mondays, as well? thank you so much!
Hey there. You should be able to release on any day you like, provided you have the Musician Plus plan and go e it enough time. Albums and singles are treated as separate releases. studiolivetoday.com/distrokid
@@PeteJohnsMusic thank you so much!
Hey Pete love your videos and I wanted to ask if when you transfer the single to the album does the play count start over or transfer?
Itâs treated completely separately from the single version. Play count starts at zero.
Hello sir you saved my life! I'm about to release my first album and i have a question! If I released a song with a primary artist when I add that song to my album do I have to add them again as a primary artist as well??
Not quite sure what the question is sorry? Check out my DistroKid FAQ here. studiolivetoday.com/distrokid
So Pete, quick question. So to be able to bundle the singles into an album, you have to leave the singles as singular releases even after you've bundled them into an album release? Meaning, you shouldn't delete the single (releases) after the album is made?
You can choose to remove the singles but I really canât think of a reason to do it personally.
Hey Pete! That was very informative, thank you. I was just wondering, I have a couple of albums that I created a couple of years ago. How can I add the year in which it was initially created/releaed, in my case 2015.
Hey there. DistroKid letâs you set the release date as a date in the past. studiolivetoday.com/distrokid
Question: what happens to the previous single released? Does it remain out there as a single and inside of the full length album?
What about the art work does it disappear once you release the full album?
Yup. They are treated as completely separate releases. studiolivetoday.com/distrokid
Hi Pete! I have 6 songs ready to release it as EP. My plan is releasing them one by one every week (for 6 weeks) as singles. But the sixth song I will release it as EP/Album. Will this work? My goal is to make sure I pitch them all since releasing all the songs at the same time wont pitch all the song from the album. Do you think this is a good idea?
Anyways thank you for this helpful video!
Yup. You can release individual singles and then release all the singles as an EP at the end, or at the he same time as the 6th single, so 7 releases all together.
Does this leave duplicates on your artist page sir ?
Hello Pete! Currently figuring this out to release my debut album, and I have remastered some singles to fit the album flow. Will the metadata still align if the new audio file has a small lenght difference compared to its single version? Thank you!
Check out my DistroKid FAQ here. studiolivetoday.com/distrokid
Hey Pete! Great video, thanks a lot for the help, I just have one question... After we put the ISRC code of the singles in the album, after the album realese can I delete the singles or is there any problem? Thanks a lot man!
You can if you want to. But itâs not required.
This was as clear as it could be. Thank you. I have one question: Do you have to delete the original single, which was previously released as described by DistroKid on their Support page?
Hey there. Not in my experience. You can have singles and then create an album or an EP using the same songs. studiolivetoday.com/distrokid
Thanks, this help a lot! What would be your advice if I didnât like the sound of my singles on Spotify , I want to bring up the bass. Can I simply mix the bass up a little on the full album release and still link each song to the original single song code? Or do I just have to upload the full album and lose the play counts? Each song only has a few streams but I was starting to get some momentum going so donât want to lose that. Thanks for all the tips!
Every release is considered a separate entity so thereâs no link between the single and album version. More info here. studiolivetoday.com/distrokid
hey pete ! Did your EP go live just after a week? Cause DK recommend to set the release 4 week before the chosen day . Please let me know !!!
Yup. If you want to do any major promoting and ensure itâs available on time I would make sure itâs at least 4 weeks in advance.
Thank You Pete, Awesome video, question, if I do schedule multiple singles for different dates in the future that will eventually be on an EP, can they all be pitched to Spotify Editors or can you only do one at a time after each single is released? Thanks again!
Each single, EP or abum is considered a separate release so you can keep suggesting it for playlists as long as they will tolerate. đ
studiolivetoday.com/distrokid
@@PeteJohnsMusic Thanks Pete!
hey pete, thanks for the super helpful video, and sorry if this question was already asked, i had a look but couldn't find it. if I choose to delete the old single releases after re-releasing them as an EP, will the playlist placements of those singles automatically be lost or is Spotify clever enough to handle the allocation of songs into their playlists based on ISRC-code, meaning that it will not matter if I delete the old releases? thanks in advance for your reply :-)
Hey there. If you have the Musician Plus plan and use the ISRC it SHOULD sync up, but there are no guarantees in my experience. Maybe reach out to DistroKid directly if you want more info - studiolivetoday.com/distrokid
