We are 13 chapters from chapter 1000! I repeat 13 chapters until what could be one of the greatest things in all of one piece, cause this isn’t like what’s come before, 1000 chapters in a shonen manga is extremely rare, especially in a magazine like shonen jump where a series could just disappear for any reason with no real explanation, Dragon Ball, the legendary series also from Shonen Jump, lasted 519 chapters! I only hope Oda has something big planned!
Will 1000 be this year? There are about 18 weeks left in the year (with SJ issues) and Oda takes some breaks so chapter 1000 might be pushed into 2021

Anyone else here enjoys Tekking's explanation of the chapter almost like the chapter itself?
I always read the chapter to appreciate all of Oda then watch Tekking for a complete immersion into the chapter. I always miss something but this guy just always brings me up to speed and more!
I totally do this. Tekking's telling is just so wholesome and fun.
He reacts to it like a full episode and really brings the pages to life for me👌🏾

@@chiroh145 True, but it seems that too many antagonists in this series assume that these threats are merely a dog barking. There is an expression that a barking dog never bites and that the same is true of people. Kaido likely interpreted their threats as the desperate howling of defeated opponents he would never need to worry about again. Clearly as he has found out here, if an enemy is not dead then they can still cause you headache later even if they cannot immediately do so.

Honestly, to me Odens scabbards piercing Kaido wasn’t because of the Ryuo it was more like Kaidos body getting weaker thinking about Oden just like Big Mom when she saw the broken pic
I think it was possibly a combination of the two.

I’d like to think that, since Haki is literally just the extension of someone’s will, it totally makes sense that the scabbards could injure Kaido if they share the same “will” of their master Oden. There is even a line from Oden IN THIS CHAPTER where he says his will (or spirit) will live on. I think this is just proof that, with enough will and conviction, you could pierce anything
This shows again if want to defeat an emperor, you need to weaken them mentally.
-Big Mom can be injured if you damage the Mother Caramel portrait.
-Kaido could be injured, because the Red Scabbards appearing reminded him of the only injury he ever suffered.
-The first injury Whitebeard suffered at Marieford was getting stabbed by an ally.
Makes you wonder what Shanks' weakness is.
Throw a Dead Sea king at him.
He loses all sense of self-preservation when important things are at risk, hence his arm getting ripped off by a Seaking because he was focused on saving Luffy.
Maybe I'm just grasping at Hawkins but if there is a pattern it seems like the bad yonkos weaknesses focus on Grief over the past while the good yonkos weaknesses are all about their hope for the future like Shanks's bet and whitebeard saving his kids, and the king of the Pirates is all about the present.
@@FrancisR420 considering shanks is a yonkou, you would expect him to use haki to make his body harden... but nope. one hand gone just like that. he should have been in many intense battle and yet lose all sense in that episode. I still disagree on whatever reasoning they give about shanks losing his arm like that.

Losing a friend
Kaido's little speech here is interesting, because a running point in Wano is how the Straw Hat's side are full of loyal and devoted people-even Kanjuro, from a point of view-while people from Kaido's side seem pretty easily swayed and generally disloyal.
I think that's going to be a major part of Kaido and Big Mom's downfall. They don't have loyalty, and they genuinely believe that the Pirates will turn on them even though we know Luffy and Crew would never do that. Fear and Power can only go so far and it seems to me that these words will be ironic when his own subordinates begin to betray him instead. We've seen it with Big Mom, her kids are more than willing to backstab her when the opportunity takes chance. Which is why I genuinely think Kaido and Big Mom will lose here.
I really like how Oda showcased it by making an arc like WCI right before Wano, and having Big Mom's theme of betrayal bleed into this arc with her newly formed alliance with Kaidou.
Big Mom & Kaido alliance was always destined to fall apart. Big Moms Commanders don't even respect the alliance. Kaidos all stars & flying six plan on killing each other. It was never going to work lol I actually see some flying six switching sides. I think Perospero switched sides since he mentioned he will be Captain of the Big Mom Pirates if Big Mom died. Meaning we underestimated his ambition. Marco probably told him he can of he assisted them.

@Lazertuiyope - Chaîne One Piece Well, we don't know about that. Of course they're cordial to his face, and he tends to foster a more friendly relationship when you're a strong subordinate, but that doesn't translate to loyalty.

Tekking has been so devoted to One Piece that he just kinda knows what Oda‘s style is. Even if Oda‘s style is to be unpredictable Tekking manages to roughly predict a lot of stuff. He just knows & feels the flow of the story I think.

Since I've caught up with the anime, I've been using these reviews to keep up with the manga since I can't visualize the action that occurs very well when I read the manga chapters. You do a great job at explaining the main points in the chapters as well, keep it up my man.

Oda setting it up, with Pedro’s sacrifice which will weigh on her before her final moments, when oda said wano will surpass marineford - well you gonna need a live death for that emotional stake. Like she doesn’t even have the typical straw hat character template - nothing important to add. (Oda would have hinted at a real dream by now) can’t see her going back home or staying on the ship so he will kill her off

I hope we get a more specific reason that the Scabards were able to hurt Kaido. Even if it's as simple as Wano knows a different type of haki, there needs to be a reason why the Marines haven't been able to even scratch him in the decades they've captured and tried to execute him.
Tekking just said in that one second Kaido was kinda panic... I dont think in normal situation they can deal significant damage.. Just like big mom when carmel's photo got destroyed..
I think it's because haki becomes unstable when the user is panicking(like katakuri). The memory of oden probably made kaido more vulnerable here.

That shoulder accessory confirms that it's basil hawkins, Hawk Eyes Tekking. I genuinely think Perospero could make a straight up temporary candy island with the amount of candy we see him produce, and depending on how thick the candy, it could be like 10 foot thick Plexiglas, don't neglect how op Perospero could be.
