This song made me weep watching the lovely bones. I actually said crying watching the film "why did the pick this song?" This song means so much to me.
@@margateswede He actually wrote all the lyrics. In Becketts own words, "I only saw him actually compose to my lyrics once, and it was 'Song To The Siren.' He looked at that page, which had only taken me a few minutes to write, days before, and started playing and singing the song as if it was already written. He made some minor adjustments and it was complete. We were astonished."
Even if Tim had written this (which he didnt; see other comments below), it is unlikely that he would have written it for Jeff. His "marriage was tumultuous and when [Mary] Guibert became pregnant, Buckley found himself neither willing nor able to cope with marriage and fatherhood. The couple divorced in October 1966, about a month before their son, Jeff Buckley, was born." (Wikipedia) He was largely absent from Jeffs life. Jeff himself acknowledged this. Besides, the lyrics are clearly about romantic love, not paternal.
Seen him today on The Monkeys binge athon on Catchy Comedy channel. His son Jeff was a tremendous talent.
One of the best songs ever written ❤️
Agreed this was a prayer at many festivals.
Brilliant song and poetry!
Oh my god this sounds so good
Esp for a '68 recording! Incredible.
This is when he was at his best
I've only just heard about the Tim and Jeff Buckley, I look forward to going through their albums
Watch the midnight special with Tim Buckley a rock star and a style of singing then heard produced by frank Zappa

So many amazing versions of this song ❤
Tim, Happy Birthday!
💛
He wrote this for Jeff💔💔💔
Not really. Larry Beckett wrote most of the lyrics to this one.
You could read the lyrics of "Dream letter".In this song he asked for his son.
