The US is escalating a bipartisan Cold War, pumping up the military industrial complex, fueling proxy wars and gutting what’s left of the welfare state. But there is a split in the ruling class on how best to guarantee US hegemony. On one side is the far-right America First crowd led by Trump, who claim to want out of Ukraine. That’s only because they want to divert the country’s Cold War resources solely toward what they see as the ultimate enemy, China. On the other side there are the neo-cons and liberals who want to take on Russia and China at the same. Both sides are committed imperialists with the same agenda, but they have a different pathway for how to get there.
Here to discuss how to navigate it all as the U.S. Empire gets desperate to maintain itself in an increasingly multipolar world is Ben Norton, a Latin-America based journalist and founder of the Geopolitical Economy Report.

China has been advocating to the US for mutual respect, peaceful existence and work for all win-win situations. But the US's envy and fear of China has made it irrational. And the call by the greedy Military Industrial Complex to increase profits, makes the subservient US administration to decide on war with China, Russia.
My advice to the US! Once war started, your enemies i.e. the muslims, extremists, terrorists, your south neighbours, african countries which you had subjugated, the middle-east countries which you have destroyed, etc. will unite to exact revenge on you. The US can easily be infiltrated from the south and north through Canada. You are not exactly isolated by the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans.

Ben has done brilliant work exposing the fatal weakness of neo-liberal, corporate-dominated economics. When corporations exist primarily to enrich shareholders, we see the gutting of every aspect of life. No concern for environmental damage, concerted efforts to lower wages & close small businesses, no money for maintenance of infrastructure or social programs, no innovation for products. Enriching a few at the expense of the majority has got to be a dead-end deal. This system simply MUST END!

Also think about what “exporting inflation” consists of… the US prints money, but then prices rise overseas. The US is using the dollar to loot the World (or redistributing wealth, as conservatives like to say) a process that’s greatly accelerated now that everyone sees the system collapsing. That’s why BRICS is so eager to start a new currency. This wealth isn’t even being fairly shared in the US… of the 5 trillion printed during COVID, half of it increased the net worth of US billionaires.

What people need to consider when Ben Norton says we have been waging economic warfare on Venezuela is that the same thing was done in Japan in the late 1930s prior to their "sneak attack". In actuality, a blockade was placed by the US on Japan which is technically an act of war, since US naval forces were used to threaten to sink their merchant ships. This is how we do "business" today. Smedley Butler had it right 90 years ago.

As an older person and a Sociologist and Philosopher, who has lived, studied, worked, served in the Airforce, in both East and West, as it has been known in Europe.. there is one recommendation I have to suggest to Ben... You will understand today's world even better, if you went to live, participate in Russian and Chinese societies, over at least for 8 years, in each place. Western understanding of these ancient civilizations which are still at the top of the world, is shockingly bad.. even by people who support these countries.. even by today's native generations. Western propaganda leaks into these countries and creates distorted views everywhere. Henceforth, we need truth tellers like Ben to inform everyone on both sides of East and West. That's what I do in my little way, for 65 years.

The worst problem for Washington is that they don't understand the important stuff about the Russian and Slavic cultures, as well as having no idea about the Socialist society of China.
Washington still thinks that China has a Capitalist economy. But that's just for propaganda purposes like..How can a Socialist economy beat American capitalism... Henceforth, let's call it just another form of Capitalism... hahaha.
Russia has kept many of the Soviet Socialist policies..yet Washington claims Russia is fully Capitalist.
Both Russia and China are very different from Washingtons understanding of them.
While the western economies grew by poltry 0.5 to 2.5 percent before February 22, Russian and Chinese economies both grew consistently every year since the year 2000, by 5.5 to 7 percent. And today, in war times, both economies still beat the west, by healthy margins... especially in the most important sectors..high end quality technologies, energy, and mass market production.
The western economies are all getting smaller, consistently every year.. and that trend is here to stay. Germany, the European 'Powerhouse' economy has been in officially declared recession for a year... while the rest of the EU, Japan, S.Korea, and the US have been in undeclared recession for even longer.
Russia economy was supposed to be crushed by the west, the opposite happened.. Russia is doing well while the west is suffering from it's own sanctions on Russia and China. And it gets worse, when we all hear that the west will continue with it's approach to Russia and China, indefinitely. THAT'S WHAT'S KNOW AS A VERY SICK WAY TO RUN ECONOMIC LIFE...in which the public suffers but the rulers get away with the all they can get..and retire on a Caribbean or Pacific seas islands.

I am from India. If I am allowed to be honest without the white man ridicule, I would state the following
      1. US economy is based on debt, which is paid for by the rest of the world. If the de-dollarization were to happen, the USA economy will be shy of 8Tn USD , far cry from 24Tn USD as of now.
      2. The Chinese economy is not a socialist economy. India practised socialism until 1991 and some leftovers as of now. To some extent American woke policies are socialist. China is a communist Party with economic capitalism geared to only enriching party members, nothing more. They have an elite population of 15 million party members and another 150 extended staff. The real Chinese economy be 6-8Tn USD
      3. The anglo british bankers built their wealth off loot from India and opium wealth of China. It's not in their interest to let go of such a mentality and i believe the West needs to be wary of powerful oligarchs within who still pull the strings.
      4. India is a black Swan event in this century. Unless the world schmes to pull India down, India can take the top GDP by number by 2035.

Russia is actually more mixed though in that it has quite a few characteristics of both types of systems.
But you are correct, America can't even imagine the idea of Socialism being objectively a better system than Capitalism even when that's reality and the birth of Socialism and Communism was because of the failures of Capitalist systems. Wealthy elites certainly can't imagine it neither.
