As a kid growing up in Southern West Virginia we had a saying, that boy could tear up a steel anvil, that goes with trucks too, maintenance, warm up before you get on em and realize that there machines and not drag cars, I don’t think most people have enough sense to take care of vehicle anymore! On my 2nd 2.7 Ecoboost powered F150 and both have been flawless, but I’m easy on em and let them turbos cool down for a minute or two when I get home, also never miss a oil change.
Yes not true. I get a work truck every 100k miles. My last one was a 2018. Had a 5.0l. Needed cam phasers at about 80k miles. It always had the oil changed Early and didn't haul anything heavy.
My 2012 5.0 had 300k before I traded it with out one problem! The new 23- 5.0 f150 I am close to getting 60k and it’s just a towing beast! Like the older one pulls my 10k trailer smooth shifts well at times on long up hills it tends to be screaming but it’s a 5.0 that loves the high rpm’s. My brothers 3.5 is just as nice but tends to be a bit faster to 55 mph. And mpg are 1.6 different from his to mine his being better of course. Sounds like you have a no love lost when it comes to ford but good review!
If you’re burning oil now, the damage is already done… the piston rings could be seized, I’m sure the cylinders are worn out. Simply changing the oil viscosity isn’t going to fix anything!… get rid of it!
@Swindy1794 it's not extreme oil usage like I said oil consumption improved greatly by switching to 5w30 oil, these engines have sprayed on cylinder liners instead of iron sleeves I think this might be the issue The truck has depreciated to much to sell it at this stage, 80,000 km. And no repair bills.
Personally I've never ran into anyone that has had any of these problems. I have a 2013 3.5 with 165k miles and an 2018 v8 with 30k miles. Both have had no issues, other then regular maintenance you'd expect.
I had the 2012 Raptor with a 6.2 I sold a couple weeks ago in a cord hybrid kind of crazy switch but it was a great truck and I never had any problems with it
Yes 19 & 21 both 5.0's no problems. Change oil every 5000 if they burn a 1/2 quart off leave them alone and just monitor chances are it won't burn off anymore. Sometimes engines don't like oil all the way to the top mark.
Sold mine with 75k miles an no issues. Having said that, I wouldn't buy one now unless it's 21 or newer since it has the upgraded CDF drum which is the thing causing the issues.
I own a 2019 Tundra 1794… every time I check my oil, it’s always clean and full to the mark.. 4K intervals… 10K is for morons who don’t know any better, turn the key and go, 57K miles and No issues, No recalls, (I’ve heard Fords have many).. why anyone would buy one of these things with such a terrible history is beyond me..
The new Tundras are complete junk. Fuel line recall, engine recall, seat trim cracking, infotainment issues. Already 100,000 units recalled for engine problems and I'm sure more recalls to come.
@@yaldor I agree! The new ones are a mess!… but I have the N/A 5.7L V8 that has been known to last a million miles or more with the original engine and transmission… great truck..keeping it.

I have a 2018 f150 with the 5l. I reduced iol consumption by 75% simply by switching from 5w20 oil to 5w30 oil.
That's what I thought would be the case.
I’m doing this at the next oil change, bought the oil and filter a few weeks ago.

I have a 2021 Bronco with the 2.7 with 13k on it but almost going on 3 years! Should I service the transmission?
Most of these newer vehicles, unless you've been towing a lot or off-roading, Ford says hold off till around 50k.

I think a lot of those sales are due to federal contracts etc.
Good point
230000 with 0 problems
@Legos37probably the V8 … best of the mix.

You’re a fool to think that… if you’re burning oil at any rate, the engine is junk, get rid of it.
The 10 speed is actually plagued with issues

I have a 2018 with the cdf drum bushing problem. Still waiting to get fixed, 58,00miles
We've got a 2021 Transit 250 at work. I've got 26,000 Mi on it, I'm waiting for it to strand me.
FORD Fix Or Repair Daily
First on race day
So glad I went Toyota pickup.
I hope you don't mean 22 or newer Tundra.
@@barrymantei7795 18 Tacoma
Considering they just recalled all the new ones because of engine problems I don't think you are as ahead as you think you are.

You got to be kidding me!… burns a quart of oil per 1000 miles is acceptable?… that’s BULLSHIT!!… fuckin garbage with wheels.
I guess they went and referred back to a 1947 oil consumption chart
Junk!
