    Did a 462 in my 67 convertible. Bored & stroked to 545!! There is a guy that specializes in these motors. He has aluminum heads, cam, etc. 1958 6 pack on mine looking stock though 600 horse with AOD Transmission & 2.79 gears. Plenty of torque & 27 MPG on the road. Extrude honed exhaust manifolds that flow as well as any header

Unfortunately it's the first ford ive ever owned so it's been a challenge to say the least. But im glad I found your videos as finding helpful knowledge on these cars is very difficult.

    ThanX for the great video. i am building a model kit of this engine (the one in the AMT 1925 Model T Ford hot rod) for my You Tube channel and this is a great resource, especially since the AMT MEL engine is arranged differently to fit in the hot rod. (Alternator is mounted above the cylinder heads to clear the model T frame, for example).

    i didnt pay attention putting my motor back together where i tore a little notch out of the rear seal where it goes over the end of the crankshaft. first drive with all back together, i pumped an entire reservoir of atf (power steering fluid) into the oilpan. not being a mechanic i was afraid i screwed up the engine so i changed the oil, warmed the car up and changed it again, 2 more times. then i though i spun a bearing driving it 1200 miles home from the Air Force but i ended up having a locked up rashed starter motor... sucks because i then sold the car... so sad

    If you're using an aluminum radiator, there shouldn't be any need for a reserve tank, anymore.
    If you could mount the alternator to where that A/C compressor's mounted and install a modern Frigidaire compressor where the alternator's at, not only would you have better access to the water pump. That should also help reduce vaporlock. Mounting a return line back to the tank would also help with vaporlock problems.

    I got a 430 in my 60 thunderbird, bought a new fuel pump for it and it still isnt pumping out fuel. any common problems with the 430 and fuel pump?

    • @NathanWilsonDrivingDreams
      @NathanWilsonDrivingDreams  Před 4 lety

      The rod gets jammed in the up position so it's not pushing the lever on the fuel pump. Remove timing cover and free the rod. Clean everything so it all moves freely. Sometimes you can remove the top cap on the timing cover and access the rod without removing anything else. So try that first.

    everything is true only fools would do a ls swap or coyote. the best swap would be a small block ford 471 cid snaps out 600 clean foot lbs torque at 2600 rpms and makes a clean 640 hp at 5500 rpms on pump gas and a 850 cfm carb easy money.
    only fools do swaps true those motors dont have the numbers. any of the ls motors including the vette version.has no torque. als a sedan is severally lighter than a 5800 lb vert
