      😂😂😂😂 - thank you Ed!!!! But it did stabilise after recharging to actual temperature...

      @@BeardedTinker Yes, I noticed! I mainly use Aqara motion sensors these days. I'm trying to diminish my WiFi devices as much as possible, but got some Shellys as well. (2.5 and dimmer 2)

      I have everything, but mostly Aqara motion sensors. From Shelly it's 95% power plugs and relays. They are really good!

    I have a tuya based contact sensor. I have the local key, id and the ip address for it, I am not able to add it to local tuya in homeassistant. Please guide how can I add it via .yaml configuration to local tuya.
    Kindly guide.

      I don't use local Tuya integration. Unfortunately, can't help you with this. Did look into installing it but it had limited list of supported devices so decided not to go there.

    Any idea the distance the antenna in the sensor can send wifi signal BACK to router? Does it compare to routers output signal distance? Thanks

      Strength is 20db - around 20-30 m indoor depending on the walls, glass or other objects.

    Great video. Love the early access

      Glad you like it! There should be some more soon - maybe next week or in 2 weeks ;)

    In particular I have not had much luck with the Shelly motion sensors (other products have been great). Too many false positives. Aslo in the Arizona heat the circuts did not manage well if outside.

      We are happy with one I got long time ago - it really is working still great. In regard to outdoor, not 1st and 2nd are not really made for outside, although they did say for this one, if it's protected from direct sun/rain, it should be ok. But, didn't test it still ..

    Looks cool, is the battery life better now too?

    • @BeardedTinker
      @BeardedTinker  Před 2 lety +2

      Not sure really - but I think it has been optimised a bit more than in first generation.
      You'll see in next video how big difference is in power usage in other device - probably Motion 2 is not that big improvement but there should be some.

      I can now answer you - battery died yesterday. Looks like it's more of 6-7 months than declared year. But I still consider it good if we take into account it's WiFi device ;)

    The shelly motion in my storage goes through about 10% charge a week. I only go in there 1-2 times a day.

    • @BeardedTinker
      @BeardedTinker  Před 2 lety

      That's weird... Do you have latest FW on it?
      Mine drops to 50% after 5-6 months. That's when I usually charge it.
      EDIT: I'm on 20220613-073803/v2.1.6@166b8318 firmware

      @@BeardedTinker Curious, the web UI says it's on the latest version, but its a different number from yours. 20210226-072307/v1.1.0@f31e1d2b
      I tried restarting it to check if the update comes through, nothing. I also checked the gateway settings. no issues.

    • @BeardedTinker
      @BeardedTinker  Před 2 lety

      That's very old FW. I think a lot of issues were resolved since than. Check this link, it allows you to push firmware to specific device (I used it yesterday on Shelly Plug S that didn't see any new updates):

      @@BeardedTinker I ended up using the /ota?update=1 instruction to force the device to the latest version. This works even if the web UI doesn't show that there is an update available.

      I hope this will fix your power issues. Firmware you had was one of the originals if not first one.
