For the blue candy that he thought was powder, it said “ronguchyu-“ on the package. If you sound it out, you could figure out that it means “long chew”. Learning katakana can be really helpful when trying to read the names of products. It is often used on stuff like that, either to make it stand out, or because foreign words are being used. Hirigana and katakana are a lot easier to learn than kanji. I would recommend learning them if you plan on traveling to japan in the future :)

Before you go to Japan again you should watch some of the claw machine win compilations uploaded by the Japanese. They have some cool techniques that get them more of the food prizes in one play.

Newton’s first law for the claw grabs on the easier towers, for every object in motion stays in motion. For every object at rest stays at rest unless acted upon by an unbalanced force. Because you were able to grab the circle pull with the claw, only that box fell into the prize box. The others had no force on it until it got unbalanced and toppled over
Depending on the amount of friction, the box below the one with a circle also has a chance to fall in.
