It’s not just making the food. It’s what’s behind it. When I got my heart broken, several years ago (long before I got married), the woman I was working with wasn’t exactly a nurturer, but she could se that I was in pain. I was barely eating and she wanted to do something to help. So, she made me a sandwich. I wasn’t really hungry, but I ate it anyway because she was showing me that she cared. Thank you again, Robin , wherever you are.
That's very sweet. ❤ Alot of ppl use making food as a way to show they care; maybe they can't get the words out, maybe they don't even know what words to use. But food is a universal comfort. I hope your heart is doing better now ❤❤
When my dad was going through chemo, he wouldn’t eat. I would pretend I was hungry & eat something I knew he liked in front of him, eventually if only a few bites at the time he would eat. He always said everything tasted better if it was on my plate! That was a lot of years ago, feels like yesterday. I miss you Daddy.
God bless you and his soul. I’m sorry for your loss of your daddy. I’m glad you both got to spend time together and made some more memories to look on with love. You’re a good daughter and he was a good father. ❤
The movie is called No reservation and basically the girls mam died in a car crash and she has to move in with her aunt (Kate ) and she hasn’t eaten since her mam died x
A few years ago my dad passed away. Causing my sister to stop eating due to sorrows and our neighbor would come over and make sure she ate while we were at work she refused to eat until he made her some stew he would talk to her everyday when he was over and finally my sister ate. Bless his soul he was such a good man. 5/9/22 Mr King
She was hungry for food too. The woman in the video wasn't used to feeding a child, so would make her fancy adult food which she wouldn't eat. He went with simple kid friendly food
@jadebolt4416 Exactly! I had stated the same thing. Hamburger vs Steak Tartare! Auntie was attempting to serve her rich, gourmet meals whereas her niece would have been content with a PBnJ, along with a cold glass of chocolate milk! 😂
When my dad died suddenly, I stopped eating. Didn’t eat for at least 4-5 days until my dad’s mom made me some lasagna. My dad used to make it for Christmas dinner every year, and I loved it so much. She didn’t force me to eat, she just placed some in front of me and told me “you don’t have to eat. But would you like to sit and talk?” And over the course of a couple hours, just talking about whatever, I started eating. Of course, I immediately bursted into tears after one bite because it was always my dad’s lasagna. But yeah. Don’t try to force people to eat when they went through something traumatic. Just comfort them and try to help them feel normal.
@jacquelinekabugo-raderson1878 This was such a good movie. I Thought I would search for it to watch again on one of my plethora of streaming channels I pay for.... 😲 I could not find it anywhere for free.

Someone sent lipstick and paprika to Treblinka, a concentration camp where prisoners continued to die even after the Allied liberated them. The lipstick and paprika did more to help the prisoners recover than the doctors did. (I think it was paprika but it was some seasoning that was familiar to them)
Back in 2020, I had severe depression. I lost my closest friendships. And for a while, I did not eat enough. It got so bad that just eating became painful to do. Every time I swallowed it felt like I was going to puke. I had to keep at it until my body broke the habit of eating so little. Now, my eating habits are back to normal. But I'm scared of what happened back then. It's frightening to think that extreme sadness could cause you to starve yourself like that. I hope I never need to face that again.

@@michaelmcclusk3y1except she didn't eat it without permission....he gave her permission subliminally by talking about how good it tasted right next to her, and following up with handing her the bowl. it's basically a reverse psychology trick to get her to eat.
@@michaelmcclusk3y1 he did used a psychology trick. And firstly no one gonna hold their food to other people if knowingly that the person hasn't eaten anything yet and was hungry. And this case it was intentionally to make the person eat it and that is a non verbal permission.
The key to helping a traumatized child is to give them some control. Speak to them like any normal conversation, special attention makes the interaction a manipulation, and gives the impression of ulterior motives. The reason she ate is because no one was pressuring her to eat, the choice became hers to make. When people tell her to eat, the only control she can take is to refuse. He gave her control of the food, and she did what she wanted with it.
I totally stopped eating at aged 12 after my uncle died in a horrfic way, the dr told my mum ' don't pressure her, leave foods and snacks around at all times, she will eat when she is ready' and it was the absolute best advice. The pressure being gone helped me to slowly start again 🩷
Its quite a easy fix when it comes to psychology. Kids are animals I mean so are we but we operate different as adults. its fine to... suffer and suffer but children takes special care. I work with adults only mainly addicts and well people that are beyond the point of help. For me I rarely care anymore Its nice to see them smile but you just simply dont care anymore cause they are a waste of space and wont ever do anything in their life. At that point when they are that damaged im willing to let them go. sounds horrible yes but.. to put it like this someone I deal with has cost the system more than 10 million here in Sweden. while I cant get a time to check out if I might got cancer. Yeah little bit that they can just off themself at that point.
@sebastian114 This seems very cruel. Addicts are people too, and technically operating off the same biological system that you mentioned children do. It's very simple to understand with your psychology- they are seeking serotonin and/or dopamine in the fastest, most effective way they've experienced so far. That'll screw someone up, but they can and do recover with proper help.

I’ve seen this girl in some other shows and the FUCKING TALENT I TELL YOU At this age? She’s gonna be huge. It’s truly remarkable talent. She’s 1 in a million for sure.
Her name is Abegail Breslin. This movie is old. She's an adult now 😅. But yeah I agree with you, she's a rare gem for her age with that excellent acting/talent 😊
Actually the tragedy in her family was a reason why she didn't eat but also later in the movie it was said to be one more reason. Her aunt (the female cook) who is a cook in a fancy restaurant made her eat fancy dishes she made (something like a whole fish with a salad). A child her age just didn't know how to eat this kind of food. At this moment her auntie's friend from work (the male cook) realised the problem and gave her a dish she knew. This way he helps the aunt and the niece get along and make a real family.❤
Also a well known fact: kids would want to eat what you are eating next to them, especially if you make clear that it's for you only. many parents use this to feed the kids healthy stuff.
@@katalinelo8011You are so spot on with this! My kids ate light oil with salt with pepper dressed fresh organic spinach and chicken salads all the time because I ate it. As they got bigger, I literally had to eat out of the serving bowl! They would only eat (sneak bites) out of my bowl and the Dino-nuggets on their plates would just be ignored. They were in grade school before they tasted (and were disgusted by canned veggies).
That's what you call caring friend who cares about kids who long they eat we need more people like him who are professional Cooks add care about kids God bless the man that did that
Something i noticed about how this was filmed just now. Everything the aunt made for zoe was seperated plates of food. She made duck and some veg and other things and the meals were on her plate signifying disconnect between zoe and the aunt. Aaron eckharts chef character mixes up a pasta dish where all the ingredients are swirled together not sectioned on the plate. And he eats out of thag bowl and shares the bowl directly to zoe creating a connection. Kids eating off your plate is literally in child bonding development. And zoe lost ALL OF THAT when her parents died she needs to start over from square one Edit: holy crap I didn't expect people to vibe with this comment like at all I've seen this movie too many times to count only cuz I like to cook and it's cuz of other film channels giving me a new lense to watch movies through and pick things up like that. Oh man. This hit me so hard. If anything ever happens to me as a mom it is my biggest fear my children won’t be shown compassion like this. So beautiful.
The sad thing is many women think men are not very caring compassionate people it is quite the opposite. Most of us would protect a child with our life even if they were not ours. I help a lot of mentally teenagers in my free time. Kind of a act volunteering reaching out to younger people of my generation. I to struggle with my mental health on a daily basis so this helps me as well. The thing a lot of men struggle with is we give more than we receive and sometimes we loose ourselves peice by peice. If I ever have children I do not want them to suffer the brokenness I had growing up into a man. I grew up without a father my grandfather took over that roll and did the best he could but much of the damage was already done. I am still picking up the pieces to this day.

Then one stopped coming and the rest followed, they stopped when there was no one to impress or brag for, so it went food for only 5 days a week then 3 days then no one came, my dad didn't care, he ate at work and he came home late when we were already sleeping, there was no money in the house and the only groceries my dad would get are milk, eggs and bread and he ate most of it for breakfast anyways, he never cooked us a single meal, he would make his food too spicy so we won't eat from it, me and my 5 yr brother survived on bread for two months cuz no one really cared least of all my father, if my mom had died when we were young we probably wouldn't have had another homemade meal until we were old enough to have our own money and make it ourselves, and we were financially well off, he just didn't care whether we ate or not, to him we were ok we eat bread, we are not starving so all was good for him, if my mom had died he would have left us eating bread till we were old enough to move out without a single shred of remorse.
A small pebble of kindness creates big ripples. Just a silent smile, an offer of a hand to hold, just a simple gesture to sit next to someone, makes an enormous difference.
When I went to a psych ward I was shown great examples of that. There was a dude named Gabriel there, sitting alone at lunch I came up to em and asked if he wanted to shoot the shit, he was kinda sitting with his legs to his chest, but after about 10 minutes we were both crying. He constantly told me how much I helped him clear his mind. Another guy same thing but he would always sit alone next to his door, first two days i left em alone to see if it was just a funk but after that I asked if we could talk. When I was leaving homeboy was laughing at jokes and hanging with people. I dont like to brag it makes me uncomfortable but i am absolutely proud of that. It makes me tear up sometimes lol. You are an amazing person you were.put there for a reason, and that was to him them and you at the same time. You probably knew this already. Iron can only ever have been created in one place, in the core of dying stars. The colour that you see in your veins, the haemoglobin, is iron particles. So you carry a lot more with you than you ever thought before. You're carrying actual stardust within. Isn't that a marvelous thought as well?
I am so impressed by Abigail Breslin. She is 28 and has already been acting for 20 years, and she is really good in every role. She is not someone that I tend to watch for, like I don’t actively follow her career, but I every time I see her in something I keep thinking, “she is really good”. I feel like she isn’t fully out of her child acting career, like I want to see her have a fully adult role as a lead in a big project, because I think she would do really well. So I am excited to see her in more things.
The best thing about this clip (and this is debatable, as it's a wonderfully touching scene) is how he has two forks in the bowl when he sits down. He left it entirely in her hands. No pressure, no encouragement, merely present. Touches the heart
Had a student 5yo and he wasn't doing good physically or mentally his parents died and he lived with grandparents and he didn't talk to anyone, no teachers, students, not a single peep, sat alone, didn't eat, didn't play, just sat there watching everyone. Broke my heart hearing about him when I started working there. A week in he got hit by a toy thrown by one of the autistic kids and everyone paid attention to the other kids but I ran to check on him, he was bleeding on the head. I took him over to be cleaned up and I was talking him threw everything and asking if he was okay, and as I do with all my students "do you need booboo kisses?" He looked at me and started tearing up. And nodded and so I rubbed my forehead against the side of his head and said mmwah. And he hugged me and started crying and said thank you. He started talking and doing a bit more after that. It broke me when I quit because my boss was a bitc%
You know, this man just saved this little girl's life. If she still wasn't eating, she could've gotten sick, died, or ended up in the hospital. But this man right here saved her. We need more people like that in this world.
Sometimes the tiniest gestures are the most impactful ones! It's called Compassion and Empathy because more likely other individuals may have gone through the very same thing as another individual and can relate. Phenomenal job chef! ❤
There's a man who just cares about people. He saw a mom who was in need and took some initiative to try and help. Society is full of people like this, regardless of what politicians and the media would have you believe.
Yeah not her mom her aunt (legal guardian) who's not good with people especially kids, after her parents died in an accident. Very good movie and story line.
I did this with a little girl at a daycare I worked at. I was 15 and she didn’t want to eat anything. Her mother had told me that morning that she refused to eat. She said we could offer her the packed lunch she brought or the daycare lunch she didn’t mind as long as she ate something. She sat away from all the kids and I quickly realised she didn’t like eating in front of people despite being only 4 years old. I knew exactly how she felt. So I grabbed two bowls of food (the staff were allowed to eat alongside the children as that was the only time we had for lunch) and sat right next to her. I started eating and I had her smell and touch each thing on her plate. Her mother had told us that she didn’t like using utensils because her cognitive issues didn’t allow her to hold them properly. While sitting next to her I turned around and pretended I was just watching the other kids. She started eating. She had just watched me eat the same exact meal and I glanced over at her and she was eating. I used the daycare iPad to send her mother a picture of her eating and she was astonished. When she came to pick her up she was so grateful. I told her to let her use her hands and let her eat alone because that’s how she preferred it. She ate every day after that
i didn't eat anything either if I did I used to puke it all out but one day my dad sweeped the puke and made me eat it since than I don't puke after eating or had any eating problems
Yep. That's how you know that the woman is putting effort not because of the fact that she wants to get the girl's attention to herself alone and replace her parents, but rather she puts effort to feed her because she genuinely cares for the girl's well-being.

Okay this hit too close to home. Like legit this is way too close for me. First proper dish I learned to make was spaghetti bolognese (like in the clip). I learned it from my aunt, learned it the same exact way she made it. I was too young to remember but she had some kind of medical condition that made it so she couldn't walk without at least crutches and she would be dead by 40. She died at 39 when I was 8. We were at her house after the funeral, just me, my little cousin who lost her mum and a couple of my other cousins. I got into the kitchen, remembering her on her raised chair by the bench. Always smiling. Sub consciously I just started making spaghetti. When I was done I served a plate to each and every one of us. We were about halfway through when I looked up and saw my little cousin crying through her food. To this day at 25 I can still make it the same way. My little cousin occasionally asks me to make it for her. She tried to learn to make it from me but she could never grasp it. Most likely cause I'm a terrible teacher because I'm an instinct chef. But when it's Christmas and we're spending it with our family, one of the days she's down she'll always ask me every year to make it. Every time she'll cry, knowing it was the same taste. My spaghetti objectively tastes better since my aunt would make hers with too high of a pasta ratio and make it too runny. But my cousin will always prefer her mother's version over my own and I will never blame her for that.
When my maternal grandmother and grandfather both died, my mother was an absolute wreck. While she was grieving, I asked her what was one childhood dish she was nostalgic for. It was Worcestershire pork chops, and knowing her mother she probably boiled or simmered them in the sauce, so alot of room to improve. I marinated the pork for the whole day with garlic and thyme along with some mushrooms, dried off the pork and seared it before using that same marinade to make a glaze to toss em in. While the mushrooms I skewered n broiler and make some asparagus too i.e more comfort foods. Her first bite out of the pork though she said hit her so hard, like she knew it wasnt what her mother made but nostalgically it was everything she remembered about it. Both me and my brother have slowly been trying to rebuild old recipes from her parents, stuff that either we clearly remembered like Tim's baked beans, to stuff that only she remembers like the Sicilian ragu Food is such a big comfort. Even if it can be done better, sometimes ya just want it like how ya remember it.
On a family vacation, we just stopped for lunch at a random local restaurant. Meal was good but I decided to also get their last piece of pie and was literally crying after the first bite. It was my grandmother's pie crust - exactly her crust. I had my kids eat it too. It was so unexpected.
This movie pulls at my heartstrings. I met my first real love on the first day of freshman year in undergrad. He immediately caught my heart, I got his number from my friend who had gone over to talk to him, and we went out to dinner together at the school cafe. The next night he was suicidal, a bunch of friends were there, we called security, some coumselors showed up, it was a whole thing. As soon as i heard from my friend that they couldn't find him, i ran from track practice, dropped my stuff in my dorm and sprinted to find him. After he was talked down, the small group of us went back to watch this movie in my dorm. We'd established the night of our first dinner that we looked each other but weren't ready for a relation, but that was the night I knew i loved him. Things between him and I didn't turn out well as things got toxic and we just simply weren't meant to be. We talk every now and then. Some part of my heart will still love him in some way no matter how much I try to forget him. I simply can't just try to forget people as that is unfortunately who I am. But this movie will always reside in my memory as a good and troubled time in my life.

My sincere condolences for your father.

A close friend of mine died the same year. RIP to both our loved ones.
She wasn't hungry for food she was hungry for emotional understanding and connection.
Nah, I think she was just hungry.
She was hungry for food too.
The woman in the video wasn't used to feeding a child, so would make her fancy adult food which she wouldn't eat.
He went with simple kid friendly food

Both can be true simultaneously. She didn't eat for days, she WAS hungry even if she didn't "feel" it, she physically needed to eat.

She ate it without permission lol. Wtf

@sebastian114
This seems very cruel. Addicts are people too, and technically operating off the same biological system that you mentioned children do. It's very simple to understand with your psychology- they are seeking serotonin and/or dopamine in the fastest, most effective way they've experienced so far. That'll screw someone up, but they can and do recover with proper help.
I’ve seen this girl in some other shows and the FUCKING TALENT I TELL YOU
At this age? She’s gonna be huge. It’s truly remarkable talent. She’s 1 in a million for sure.
She’s 28 now
"Signs" ❤
Her name is Abegail Breslin. This movie is old. She's an adult now 😅. But yeah I agree with you, she's a rare gem for her age with that excellent acting/talent 😊
You can tell he's a parent by how he handles this 👏👏
Actually the tragedy in her family was a reason why she didn't eat but also later in the movie it was said to be one more reason.

And zoe lost ALL OF THAT when her parents died she needs to start over from square one

When I went to a psych ward I was shown great examples of that.

Don’t lose hope in those that don’t glow just remember that
Plus I made this quote up
Being on a child’s level and having them know that they can be comfortable is the number 1 key to having them trust you even when it comes to eating .
Made me cry. I went through some struggles and refused to eat as a kid. A lot of amazing people helped me through that
Nope I think you just starving and cannot take it anymore so you decide you wanna start eating again or else you'll crossed over🥱
i didn't eat anything either if I did I used to puke it all out but one day my dad sweeped the puke and made me eat it since than I don't puke after eating or had any eating problems
@@adityashetty4088I hope that’s not true cause lord Jesus that is vile

Thank YOU young man, your actions spoke louder than words!!🤗👍👏🤗❤
Bless all those lovely people on earth.
Love how the woman isn't jealous that she couldn't do it but instead happy the girl is eating.
Yep. That's how you know that the woman is putting effort not because of the fact that she wants to get the girl's attention to herself alone and replace her parents, but rather she puts effort to feed her because she genuinely cares for the girl's well-being.
@@woojinbloo44 exacctlyyy my thought!!
It’s a matter of the man not the woman. Because he’s a kind man and isn’t boastful but rather just wanting to help it makes it easy to trust.
That's a mother. She doesn't care if she's part of the solution. Just that her daughter got the help she needed

This scene makes me cry every time. The film is called “No Reservations” (2007) by the way, an American adaptation of a German film , “Mostly Martha” (2001).
Thank you for the mention of what movie it is. I'm going to watch it.
This is one of my favorite movies.
but to be fair they butchered the original
Thank youuuu
@@haemmertime yes! we watched mostly martha in german class and it was lovely. i also love catherine zeta-jones so was very excited for the adaptation, but it doesn't hold a candle to the original
Abigail Breskin was/is such an amazing actress.
I love this song. Can she make an album with songs like this and Agora Hills? I repeat this songs at least 10 times a week

Nah he’s the kinda guy that would be two faced in a relationship

Good food is one of the things that gets me through the work week, always look forward to getting take out and just enjoy some quiet time.
A big thanks to all cooks and the food they make for giving some comfort during the good and bad times ^^

The little actress who plays the girl looks beyond adorable!
When my grandma has multiple myeloma she wouldn’t eat as her chemotherapy put her in a bunch of pain.i would visit her and whenever i ate i made sure to put extra food on my plate everyone always wondered why, i would always go to the room my grandma was in (she was in a bed as she was to sick to walk) i would eat my food and she would always reach out and grab the other fork and ate. The next day i went to my friends house and i texted my grandpa to see if my grandma was doing good, he never texted back. I went to my grandparents house and my grandma wasn’t in her room and everyone was crying. She passed away june 29th 2023 at 7:54 am i miss my grandma so much! So true!!!🔥
This actress is Abigail Breslin and she also plays a young lady on Grey's Anatomy Season 3 who does not feel pain. Heartstrings pulled for a lot of roles she's had.
Hunger is emotional game.. you will feel one when it strikes your emotion. Person made an emotional contact with the girl and she felt the urge to eat.. the silent "Thank You" in the end and a quick acceptance from the chef was added charm to the video..❤🥰💕
Movie name: no reservations 2007

Yea pin it.
Thanks King 👊
As others said, pin it
Thank youuu
In my culture, food is the meaning behind life. This scene is proof of the power of food. Excellent actors in this scene.
Thank you!
Abigail was so adorable when she was little!
Abigail Breslin really was the queen of film as a kid. She was in some TV shows in guest roles as well (like SVU). She’s very talented!
bro ikr little miss sunshine showed me her at a young age as well as hers, steve carrel, and paul danos acting ranges such great actors!
My sister's keeper is her best work, imo!
She's amazing
There were significantly more famous and popular and more talented child actors than her.
She was in everything lol
The movie name is "no reservations" year 2007 ❤🎉
Thanks!
Thanks
While movies and tv shows were still politically correct back then it wasn't to the unbearable degree it is now.
I can relate to this girl… when my hubby travels for work I rarely eat. Yes, I suffer from depression and chronic pain. Yes, he is aware. He tries to not travel but sometimes he just has to. I try not to be like this, just can’t help it.
😢....Please do take good care of yourself, though. 🙏
Hardcore depression kills everything 😢❤😭
Understanding others and getting them out of depression is extremely difficult but that is forever in movie now❤👏🙂
The girl is an amazing actor at a young age. Her expressions shows her emotion without saying a single line.
Abigail Bresnin
The Ultimate Gift is a great one too.
You have got to see her in My Sister's Keeper.
Yessssssssss❤ SOOOO.much!!!
Harvey talking about Rome again
I was thinking that too 😂😂
What man doesn't think about the Roman empire on a daily?
Then he drops the hardest quote in movie history... 😂
I struggle with binge eating and not eating, and I realize it's an emotional problem, no father and mother narcissist, and I feel this in some deep space inside.
I love how she was so welcomed and comfortable that she knew she was able to eat some without being punished or ridiculed 🎉
Stuff like this makes me cry when I see it😢 I can't stand to see a kid going without or to see a kid suffering. Makes me cry.
So are the kids in gaza
Please pray for them
She wasnt eating cause her aunt didnt know how to raise kids and was cooking fancy food for her.
@@sanaarana8610there are also 1.6 million kids facing malnourishment in South Sudan. This has been going on for years. There is little to no news coverage on them. The whole world is looking at Gaza, and rightfully so. But there are many spots with children dying of hunger not being spoken about.
I feel the same way. No child should suffer or go hungry. It pricks my heart
Great story thank you for sharing
You're a good man. Keeping her memory alive and cooking for your family. Keep up the good work sir o7
Love is love. Hugging 8 year old you.
Both me and my brother have slowly been trying to rebuild old recipes from her parents, stuff that either we clearly remembered like Tim's baked beans, to stuff that only she remembers like the Sicilian ragu
Food is such a big comfort.
It was so unexpected.
it's so crazy how being sad or trauma just....you're not hungry. I've been a cook for a long time, this truly made me cry. beautiful
And in the end, the love you take, it's equal to the love you make. -Paul McCartney
