What Ever Happened to Andre Ingram?

- Andre Ingram, the Los Angeles Lakers' rookie sensation and the NBA's #1 story in 2018, had an unbelievable debut game, scoring 19 points. We all know what happened - a man who toiled for 10 years in the NBA D-League / G-League to make it to the big show.
But it's been six (not five, sorry) years since then. Where did he go? Overseas? Coaching? Or... still trying to secure a full time contract in the NBA?
Really, what happened to Andre Ingram?

Let me know what you guys think of this one! First time doing something like this, let me know if there's anything to improve on!
And of course, huge shoutout to Mr. Andre Ingram for agreeing to this!
Fantastic video! Keep it up!
You did good. I was invested in this video and I’m glad to know more about Mr. Ingram. Keep it up my boy.
Please put the cell phone down and clean the room. Nice vid. Bad look.
amazing vid. no other content like this is being put out.

Andre should be an assistant coach for the Lakers, he’d be a good vet for the younger guys who are going in between the G-League and the NBA
I agree.
He should be a g league coach 😂
@@Gofroze even if it was just being a G-League coach, he should still be somewhere in somebody’s organization. That veteranship and experience is still valuable, especially considering this year’s rookie class having several play in the G-League.
I actually think he'd be great on the Heat or Sioux Falls coaching staff considering how successful their programme has been.
Casual take lmao
What a humble and nice dude. Although his time in the nba was short, he did accomplish his goal and he seems like he has no regrets.
He should have played overseas to make more money though, D-league/G-league didn't pay much. I guess getting to stay closer to home and still making some money though is a decent deal, when you consider some guys play their entire hoops career for free on pickup courts
@@stevenscummy1458that wasn’t his goal.
@@terranceford4391true but bro got payed doing something he loved and still reached the ultimate goal. How many people can say they played with Lebron. That’s a pretty dope life no matter how much you make out of it.
@@TROPxBIG2x no
He did acomplish millioj of people coldnt do and million of basketball pro coldnt do
wow a youtuber asked him better questions than any of the media did. no wonder espn doesn’t even bother with the half time show anymore
Because CZcamsrs dont have to ask the same stock questions
U are like 12 years old right
Kinda crazy he was so big 2k legit used his story for the mycareer the very same yr
which 2k?? id love to play it

Man I didn’t expect to cry watching this. This man is the Sisyphus of the NBA, grinding for so many years at a dream that seems so far away. Time and time again inching one step closer but 2 steps back. And yet this man continues to remain full of gratitude.
It’s inspiring and serves as a reminder that even though your dream might be coming to an end, life still goes on. There are plenty of other opportunities for Ingram after his playing time is over, and the same applies to each of our own lives.
Man I’m glad i seen this comment. This video brought me to tears too and i was here feeling like i was trippin for being so moved by his gratitude when so many would have probably considered themselves failures.
Them boys over here tripping off shrooms 😂😂😂😂
@@sturdyharris8320😂😂😂 dnt be so ignorant … the guy does have an inspiring story you might not be as moved as these guys but dnt do them like dat … you read their full stories in the comments 😂

Thank you for this. As a laker fan I’ll never forget watching his nba debut game live
Of course, thank you for watching 🙏🏿
Fr. He did a really good job shining light on him.
He's an inspiration. He never gave up on his dream, that in it of it's self is a huge win. 38 is old IN basketball, but it's very young AROUND basketball. I hope to see him around. A definite fan favorite.
There’s one thing to have a dream but another to actually capitalize and accept offers to make real money for your family. If ex-NBA stars like Stephon Marbury can go play overseas, experience new cultures, meet new people and earn an excellent living then that tells you a lot. Ego and delusion got the best of Andre!
@@JCizzleSoCalDon Cheadle won that high school chip and thought he was the ticket 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I met him at Kroger a few years ago with my dad and brother he’s a real good guy.
How many mean people you seen or met at krogers 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Every Laker fan remembers this man coming on the court and getting buckets with the fugly shot. He was so inspiring. Thanks for this!
As a 30 year old man who just finished his college basketball career, Andre’s story has touched me since I first heard about it. PASSION and COMMITMENT and not settling for less is why Andre’s so successful even when others may see it differently. I know the NBA loves seeking youth and potential, but after what Joe Johnson did in his final NBA run and Udonis Haslem as well, we need more vets like Andre on the court!
Dude this guy is actually pure class. I was expecting a sad story that he messed up or something but here he is he continues to battle and he continues to be positive in life....... BUT DUDE THIS CONTENT CREATOR? His questions, the way he told the story, dude props to you! Earned yourself a sub!
Andre would make a legendary coach. His attitude drive and work ethic is something to look up to. Excited to see what the future holds for you Dre.
work ethic and drive doesnt make people good at things they have never done. players dont make good coaches. there are outliers but not many
his words made me think about my own situation right now. it's not just hitting the wall, I am IN that wall right now and wondering how to overcome it. for Ingram somehow to be grateful despite his circumstances, and all the passed opportunities, that takes a certain level of acceptance. made me wonder right now.
you got this, stay strong!
There’s one thing to have a dream but another to actually capitalize and accept offers to make real money for your family while still doing what you love. I’m convinced that any brother with the initials A.I. gets buckets. Bubba Chuck, Iggy, dude from NBA 2k19 and Mr. Ingram. Respect and I wish nothing but the best.
Great how you got him for an interview, keep grinding and you will blow up for sure
Thanks, am trying !
You’re the goat for getting this legend on

Andre is my family. Thank you for taking the time to tell his story. Such a blessing and fantastic story. Wonderful work of journalism. Thank you for honoring and remembering him.
Andre is such humble and solid guy, I strive for many of our youngsters to aspire to be just like him!
fucking hell man, you are a very very good reporter. i am a writer and editor (not for sports) but i have worked with loads of people who get paid and work as professional reporters that could learn a lot from you about how to frame and present a story. you let the thing breathe, you let ingram speak for himself, yet you interject and give context precisely where it is needed, the whole thing flows, it is entertaining WITHOUT being dumbed down or losing its legitimacy and accuracy.... shit man, if you aren't trying to make it as a sports journalist, i'd encourage you to start. very impressive. you are the first sports youtuber that i have subscribed to. respect.
Why is your grammar so bad if you’re a writer?
@@OsceolaNola7how is it bad? it honestly seems fine lmao
Ever heard of the difference between formal and informal writing? @OsceolaNola7
Wow, that means a lot!!! Hoping to make my own lane with this really. Thanks for your sub and I hope that you stick around for the ride ✌🏿
reading a script doesnt make anyone a good reporter. shit on youtube isnt media reporting
wow gratitude goes a long way
why am i tearing up at him beautifully challenging those negative thoughts with gratitude and hope it’s so important. i rlly like him
Clicked the video because I remember his story making me smile, left this shit with an incredible amount of wisdom on perspective, embracing oneself, and working hard. He's an inspirational dude, whether he's coaching professionally or just guiding local players he's gonna impact the game and thats all u can ask for as a player, giving back to the game u love.
he seems like a genuinely great dude. He still achieved so much that kids dream of. From a fellow 38 year old he still has loads of future opportunities.
liked immediately man I was thinking about him the other day, everything you put out is quality so I know this gonna be good
Appreciate the support ! 🙏🏿
Thank you so much for this man. His words really hit me hard, I turn 27 on Friday and while I have done a lot it's been 5 years since I graduated college and I just am not where I know I can be. I know the journey isn't always linear but I just hope that if I stay the course that I will end up where I know I can be.
That’s what I hoped for in sharing this story. Thank you for sharing this 🙏🏿
Man this is so deep I needed this.! I been doing music since I was 18 and I’m 37 I just can’t stop. I tried stopping for a couple years but nothing felt right. I started vlogging, did photography, became a published author, videography, even an acting class. Nothing could fill that void of my passion to create music. Luckily everything I tried out came full circle as I’m able to make my own music videos and they are really good, acting has helped me become a better artist.
One thing I never did in my career though is actually make a plan and stay consistent, I tend to give up when times get tough
Never give up. I’m going to law school at 43
If this guy got an assistant coach role on the NBA, no player for that team should ever be allowed to be late or take for granted their spot in the NBA. A guy like Klay Thompson this year, struggling and questioning his abilities, would have benefited greatly if he could look down the bench and see a guy who grinded for a decade in the D/G League for less than five games in the NBA. Puts the whole sport in perspective. Andre Ingram is an inspiration and if I was a HC or GM, I’d be jumping at the opportunity to get him apart of my staff.
Bro was the best 3pt shooter on the team that year!!
Had the chance to play against Andre in Virginia back in 2002/03 HIGH SCHOOL season. He was a sharpshooter back then and great to see him appreciated with this video!
Who you played for?
I’m not a fan of basketball but it was crazy to see this pop up on my feed considering i know him personally. I go to church with him and have known him since i was little and he’s a class act. I remember one time he taught us when we were kids basketball for an activity night. He would buy stuff for my fundraisers and he always has a smile on his face. He’s very humble and cares about his family very much. Great video on a great man.
Bruh that's crazy, i was just wondering about this dude a week or two ago. Appreciate you doing this 👏🏾
He finally made it to the Big Leagues.
As a fan of the Perth Wildcats, I remember his short stint with us. It was kinda unlucky that he left us, cos we ended up winning the championship that year. I'm happy that he ended up getting a spot in the nba in the end
I was so lucky to be watching when he hit the NBA court in that debut Lakers game. I cheered for Andre like he was a family member. I hope that everyone was a Laker fan that game, or at least an Andre Ingram fan. I was thrilled by his performance and could not be happier for him in that moment.
I love this guy's positivity! Doesn't blame anyone or anything, no victim mentality. Keep chasing his dream until he can't!
Yo this is my new favorite channel! I totally forgot about Andre Ingram
His grit and determination should be seen as a example for everyone. What a great humble man.
lakers fan here, i think every person who reps purple & gold hods admiration for andre. underrated channel btw great video
What a legend! Hope he does well. He kept to his dream made it come trough and he wants to keep holding onto it can’t knock it. Never give up ❤
His story is inspirational for all people striving after their purpose
This was an amazing video.
Thank you for making this for us.
Of course, thank you for tuning in 🙏🏿
whats crazy is since then ive googled him several times. he was an inspiration to us all. he will never be broke again and for these reasons he is legend. sometimes its not about the stats, but the road to get there...
He used to go to my church and still would come back to do camps for the youth I did one a few years ago. Great guy very humble and kind to everyone
I remember watching his debut. So inspiring.
This shit made me tear up a lil. Dude reminds me of my pops. Just humble and inspirational in the face of adversity all the way to the end.
I go to his basketball practice every Monday and Wednesday at the local church after school. The guy’s super chill and he’s doing fine!
Needed to hear this, what a great story
A pure genuine soul who will never give up on himself. I salute you Andre!
this is a good interview. i see a few parallels with andre and i. i'm glad to say that i turned a little bit earlier than andre, and my perspective is quite different to andre's. of course, i'm not a basketball player... hope andre and i will do well in the future. for anyone out there who is 'too old', keep working on that dream, you don't really have to turn a lot, turn a little bit and see what happens. good luck.
This man is a wealth of wisdom. That perspective on life is key. Glad I watched this video.
I was a fan of AI before, but such a bigger one after watching this fascinating, well done interview!
Another great video. Andre's a geniunly nice man. I hope he's happy. And thank you for your efforts. You're clearly made for this.
Of course! thank you for your support!
Popped up for recommended and you killed this bro! Keep it up will be checking you out. Shout out to both of y’all
This dude deserves nothing but the best life has to offer. Good luck to ya in your future endeavors Andre, you're a good dude.
I’m so glad this has a happy ending. At first I thought he was crazy for thinking he could ball in the NBA at 38. But it’s great that he seems to have a plethora of job opportunities within the sport. How it works out for him!
you gotta find andrew bynum. no one has heard from his since he left the league and people have tried
This is a good idea - I’ll look into it !
He at da trap house 😅
There's no way this man shouldn't be in the NBA a team needs to give him a real chance to show what he can do!
What a great video man hope this blows up. Andre Ingram is such an inspiration to people seeing that if they work hard enough you’ll get recognized even if it’s later better than never.
2 call ups in 13 years?? “Just work hard bro” he missed out on thousands chasing a dead dream.
@@Deadboyzion what guarantees he would’ve made it to the nba if he went overseas, you never know. In the end now he played for one of the most iconic franchises in the nba, his story blew up, people love him, he’s the head of the union of the g league players, has many opportunities for his career and everyone knows him. Maybe if he went overseas chasing the quick money this would’ve never happened or maybe it would’ve who knows but at the end everything worked out
@@emilewillaerts6368Id rather have a million plus in career earnings over playing for an NBA team for a few games. I like Ingram, but he clearly doesn't understand opportunity cost.
@@sp123 he would’ve never had “millions” in career earnings overseas. He would’ve probably gained more money but not that much more. As well as he wouldn’t have been known to people and wouldn’t have gotten the opportunities he has now to make more money. I also don’t know why you’re hating on him when he himself recognizes that he should’ve probably taken the first overseas offer.
This guy gets its. Be grateful for what you have instead of being depressed about what you dont.
Good stuff man.
Literally was thinking bout his first game in the NBA 2 days ago.....I had forgotten who it was against, but I will always remember the bench going crazy as he was knocking down shots.
Great video and thank you. He was the best part of that Lakers season
Great video. I'm relatively a newbie to NBA (7-10 years) and remember this story clearly. Can't believe it was 5 years ago.
Very well done bro. Always wondered what happened to him. I’m a basketball junkie, so I’ve watched more G league games than I’d like to admit. Good for him and glad he is still going.
Andre I believe and pray that the best days of your basketball career whatever it may entail is still ahead of you. Gratitude is perhaps the most powerful trait a single person can exhibit because it really does come back to you. Andre always struck me as the nicest person on the planet. Big things are still ahead of you big brother! You're an inspiration. And thankful for this channel for this content.
People like Andre are rare. It's mind blowing someone can be this overly optimistic and relentless.
After watching this video, Andre is a huge inspiration to me. Hope he does well in the rest of his career and I wish his family well.
@UCwKPt22DEJ7LrWe9XH8lviA I’m not gonna lie idk what I won lol I have a business email for yt
Very good brotha. I shoot ball at the gym he works out at, he lights up the room every time he walks in. Very humble and personable.
He played in the NBA with the goat. He made it! He may not got to have it for a great length but he did it!
Oh cool he got very momentarily to be in the huddle and share a locker room the with Lebron. That was really the highlight of his long “professional” career. His D-League/G-League sportsmanship and 3 point contest awards were nice too but dude was probably averaging $30-40K per year with a wife and kids. He turned down a lot and got little in return
@@JCizzleSoCal he chose it, did you not watch the interview?
He played with Kobe or Jordan? I see you said GOAT.
At least he knows he should‘ve signed earlier with a team overseas for his family too. But kudos to him for staying positive.
Glad to see he's doing great. Lakers was horrible when he popped up and he made us all want to watch his story.
Met him at a Gold’s gym when I lived in Richmond, VA. Super humble, cool, nice dude. Let me grab a pic with him too.
got to meet him in 2019 at a g league game and have some signed memorabilia, excited to hear about where he at now!
Bro literally had the spirit of Kobe in his few games in the NBA
you figured out your formula brother. you're gonna grow fr fr
Thank you for making these video. I was wondering for awhile what happened to him and few days later I see it on my page🤧
He should be proud of himself. I know how it feels to be a struggling athlete trying to make the pros. It's 100x harder than pursuing other careers.
Excellent Documentary. I think you can improve some areas of the story progression such as being a bit more specific with some of the aspects and information provided. I think the biggest advantage of this is the fact that you were able to bring the man himself onto the show for discussion and to hear the genuine POV from the subject themself. This really served to bring the documentary full-circle. I think Andre has a bright future in scouting/coaching/front office stuff, you don't play that many years of high-level basketball (regardless the league) and not come out with those skills. Ingram strikes me as an intelligent individual with a kind heart and great resolve. I have no doubt he will be successful in his post-playing career.
what fucking grind that he went on.... most wouldnt even be able to handle that type of stress... i applaud any athlete that can make that grind like him and not give up all together. ... it stories like this that keep people going and striving for what they believe in.. it doesnt matter that he didnt get the money its the journey that you have to appreciate!
17 min vid on andre ingram im all for it
In a way this is kind of a sad story because he's let a lot of opportunities slide for an impossible dream. He's had his 15 minutes of fame and it's time to move on to a career so he can take care of his family better. He passed up on all of those overseas deals that would have probably paid him a lot better so he doesn't need to keep passing up on things now because he knows and we know that it's over. He's not getting a roster spot in the NBA so take those jobs. Way to persevere but now it's time..🎉
To say its a was an impossible dream when he played on the gleague is insane. Impossible would be if he was playing in a Rec league or lower tier europe team.
@@Jovaughnbey123 it was almost impossible at the end of his g League career. Of course there was always a chance when he was a youngster but he kept passing on better deals even as he was starting to age out of the NBA.
Great video, shoutout Andre Ingram for his commitment and dedication to what he loves
Yessir , his story is seriously inspiring
What a legend! Thank you Andre for all that you do!
I really liked this video a lot, just that feeling of old school nostalgia of the whole vibes I love so much.
He still one of my top 3 favorite Lakers. I wish I could buy his jersey.
This is great content thank you
I was thinking about him the other day and wondering what happened to him. I love what he says about "the call."
I’m from Richmond and I was overseas playing pro ball at the time. I was hype to see him get a call up. Then it was crazy when I came back home to end up playing on the same summer league team as him. I’m still kinda upset he missed the game winner for use to go to the championship game. KD told one of our teammates that he would’ve played in the championship game with us, but we had to make the championship game. We lost in the game Before we played in the chip smh....
How is this channel not pushing a million subs by now? Easily some of the best NBA content on CZcams
I saw him hoop in high school first hand toughest game on the schedule. Highland Springs legend 🫡
