    Burnout happens in every job. As someone who did construction for 6 years before switching to Sonography. Since i switched it is waaayyy less stressful and tiring than construction. Its all perspective. Much more rewarding and no offense to anyone but much easier.

    Wow!! This is really an excellent video on ultrasound. I was on the track to pursue nursing but before that I was really interested in ultrasound and just medical imaging in general because When I was a dental assistant I loved taking xrays & was very good at it. Now I regret not pursuing xray or ultrasound. But losing my dental assisting job was very traumatic & the 07/08 crash made me choose a career based on fear. I got my BS in sociology. Deep down I never really wanted to do nursing. It looked good on paper. But now I’m considering medical imaging I don’t know if it’s rad tech or sonography. I really wish I pursued it but was afraid because when the economy was bad new grads online were complaining they weren’t getting a job. But now i see more opportunity. I did not see musculoskeletal sonography 10 years ago.

Besides having to deal with the pandemic through majority of the program, I also had a leader that mentally abused her students, went by favortism, and cared more about their reputation and "numbers" than the actual students. I lost all confidence in myself and have yet to begin my journey in the US world. The school I'm planning on attending offers a general sonography degree with specializations in only ob/gyn and abdomen. What documents are needed as part of the process in addition to giving the SPI exam. I was looking at the official website and it is a bit light on the documentation and transcripts format for IMGs. It mentions about transcript and was wondering what exactly is needed to showcase the international ultrasound experience. If someone has gone through the process and can please guide me, thank you.

    bro im sitting at home and for the last couple weeks i've been trying to figure out what i want to do! i have three kids and a fiancee and my girl has a pretty decent "carreer" and I'm like stagnant bro. So i've been REALLY interested in working in the healthcare field! Like from 19-20 i lived at hoime in philadelphia and my step mom was a nurse, im like theres a HUGE demand for male nurses right now (circa-2010) and shes like nooo dont go into healthcare you're better doing a trade or something along those lines. being the young immature and definietly un motivated person i was, i just let her get to me.
    For the last 10-11 years ive been living in south florida i have come across little to NO jobs that seem to excite me as a future carreer. so I jumped back to the feeling i want to do something in healthcare. As of now im WAY more motivated and im definitely interested in taking the time to do what i have to, to better myself. I've been feeling the sort of X-ray-ultrasound kind of work. Especially becasue there's a demand for it in south florida, I live in Davie-Fort lauderdale area.
    So I've decided I'm going to do it, I'm going to pursue something other than a basic 9-5 ( just trying to get by life easy) type of job. i want my kids to grow up happy, comfortable and definitely proud of their dad. I have one BIG set back... I DONT KNOW WHERE TO START! I seen your video and it has helped me TREMENDOUSLY! I'm definitely still stuck on some basic shit like where to go, who to call, what school is best and most affordable. I know theres so many options out there, im going to give it a shot and just put my next best foot forward.
    If you have any suggestions on how to get started or which school is best, even if its just a start. Please send me a message! or email me @ Daviesfinest13211@gmail.com. my names Brian and I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't mind taking some time out of your day/night to PM me.
    Thanks man, you're an inspiration!

    Have you had any issues being a male sonographer? Like having female patients refuse to be examined by you? Not getting employment because you are male and may need a chaperone during an exam? Etc?

    • @SonographicTendencies
      @SonographicTendencies  Před 3 lety +4

      No I work in a pediatric hospital with 9 male techs. In 17 years I’ve had a few patients prefer a female tech and they get what they want plus it’s less work for me. For the most part it’s almost never an issue. I’m sure in woman’s centers they prefer female techs because it is a lot vaginal and breast exams and men need a chaperone for those but other than that you should not have a problem. I’ve worked in ob too and have male co workers that work in ob clinics

    • @SonographicTendencies
      @SonographicTendencies  Před rokem

      Any kind of job in sonography is gonna put you at risk for MSK injuries, it's the repetitive nature of scanning, not the specialty. But if you take care of your health and at least focus on physical fitness or health the chances of injury are reduced. I've been doing this almost 20 years and have had no serious injuries, only occasional very mild tendon pain.

If you have time check him out. He gave me a tour of their sonography department and it was nice and the Dr. and faculties there was very nice as well. On a scale to 1-10 how difficult was your program? I was in nursing school, I failed out and due to major mental health problems, and the work load was insane 4 classes, 2 labs, 2 clinics that were 8-12 hours and I had only the weekends to study all that over the weekend. That’s to me would be a 15 difficulty!! 10 if I was able to get my accommodations in time.

      Hey! I am in an ultrasound program and I can tell you it’s also very hard. 6 classes a term usually and it’s a lot to keep up with and easy to fall behind. It is faster than nursing though. But I would give it a 10/10 difficultly as it is super hard and so much course work. But it’s so worth it and you can definitely manage.
