- Declutter, organization, and makeover of our linen closet! This video is a triple whammy! There was more to declutter than I expected, and so happy with the final linen closet organization. It feels minimalist! What do you think?
I used gift cards to buy new organization containers, wallpaper, and contact paper. Our linen closet is now decluttered and a joy to open! It was so much easier to get through this declutter project and end up with a minimalist linen closet than prior declutter projects.
I loved organizing into these pretty new bins! I wouldn't have done this if I didn't have a stack of gift cards to use, but so glad I upgraded the linen closet organization. It's a joy to open and use now! Decluttering is a less of a chore these days, now that minimalism has found me. The longer I'm on this minimalism journey, the less I find we really need to have in the house and more we focus on what matters to us.

Erica, I wanted to say how much I appreciate your videos. In a lot of decluttering videos, the house is mostly clean and just needs some organization and a wipe down. Your house looks like my house, and your success inspires me to believe I could have successes of my own. With 25 years of random clutter it's a big job- but after watching your videos, it truly seems doable.

I totally agree! I love how "normal" you are and following your journey. Seems in CZcams, creators can end up sort of overthinking and over-producing themselves when in actuality, it's the more everyday realistic part of people that drew us to their channel to begin with!

Your videos really make me smile. I will be honest and say your first video made me so stressed. I kept wondering how you could live like that (ps that was hypocritical because although my house isn't quite as busy it was certainly on the way!) I couldn't understand how you were going to manage it all. You are such an inspiration. Plus I think you also look tidier, calmer, more together, more slim perhaps (not that it matters!) . You really have inspired me to tackle my house more and make 2020 the year of less! The video about the definitions and qualities of a hoarder really hit home for me. Thanks for being so open and honest.

I swear linen closet are like the tardis - bigger on the inside. LOL I also appreciate how real you are with how long things take, how draining it is and how great it looks post effort. I did this 2 years ago to my entire house and often re-do it. We don't accumulate much but we still acquire some things and it's a constant journey.
Less than 2 minutes in and I’m inspired 😃. Going to pause and clean a closet.

I have a coat closet that we do not use for costs but I clean edit all out this week... found a car cover for a car I havnt even owner for 2 years ha ha... it feels so good to open the door and clearly see items we use and not items we dont even need!
"Dog stealing sock" had me jump in my seat - but then I remembered it also has a not so scary meaning, for not so weird peeps.
Love the garbage can right there in the closet to cut down leftover packaging.
I would be broke just paying for the stuff... May we all be better "Gatekeepers" of our homes...

I read too many zombie apocalypse books too. But, Ive realized that if you don’t know what you have and where it is FAST-you are probably already screwed. Better to declutter it.
Also, I love the wallpaper you put on the back of the closet.
Yesterday we spent most of day purging Toys, about 85% get donated 😁, my Boys and I are a wonderful team.

I LOVE watching your house transform. You are really inspirational! I’ve done the baby steps version of what you’ve done. It’s motivating me to really get in there and reevaluate what I need to keep. I’m going to read those books you recommended. The clothes in my closet is what I’m struggling with the most. The rest of our house is pretty minimal, minus holiday decor. It's not as scary once you get started. You can always do a hypothetical what if we pack away some of the clothes for a certain amount of time, then after that time has passed, unpack clothes and reevaluate. Then you aren't getting rid of anything yet. If you find your capsule isn't working you can switch your clothes around/ rotate with what you packed away. Have fun with it! It's supposed to be fun.
I swear, I always find the most random stuff in our linen closet LOL It's the "time out" spot for when the kids get certain toys or whatever taken away so it gets quite interesting in there 😂

Get yourself some woven baskets for your hair stuff, great for curling irons, blow dryers and straighteners. Put a hand towel in the bottom to catch hair etc. In the end, it will keep your shelfs cleaner. Oh I always use the rule of three in decorating and organizing.

Great job! Loved the video it was so funny seeing everything you found in there! A tip to not accumulate so much empty packaging is to remove as much as possible BEFORE putting it in storage. For example remove the toothpaste from its box before it goes in the bin. It also takes up less space!

Yep, i have a bathroom linen (towels and first aid) closet and a hallway linen (sheets and sundries) closet. They've been on my list to do. I have been procrastinating, though, because it will take me several days. AND i have no idea how I want to put it all back together again.

Love it! If the wrinkles bother you, you can hit them with a hairdryer and sometimes that helps!!
I’m in the airport in McAllen Texas to go home to the ice and snow and my empty home... this is my time to declutter my house while my husband stays in Texas being a winter Texan! Heaven help me in my quest! 😉
I get a kick out of watching you organize and clean out. Now I just have to motivate myself to do the same.
Suggestion, I got some containers from the Dollar Tree with locking lid and a carrying handle. I use them for my nail supplies, first aid kit and even dog supplies. I love the handle cause I can carry it where I need it. In fact I even got some for my crafting paints and supplies.
I saw a calendar of daily declutter schedule. Basically it just named one space per day. Be it a drawer, the freezer, the car etc. Effectively you could do the same thing going foward and make your own daily declutter calendar any order you want.

So I’m just now starting to have the energy and desire to clean after about 6 months of feeling yucky (I have some long term health issues). I just randomly stumbled upon one of your videos yesterday and I love you. You’re videos have inspired me to want to get busy. I only wish I had more time to clean up and organized. You, Madam, are RIDICULOUS! I can easier understand quantum physics than how you have the time, energy, and perspicacity to do all of these reorganizations. I am by myself and can't do it, let alone with four kids (fur baby included) and a husband to deal with. I don't know if you really realize/give yourself credit for the many life-long, caluable lessons you have given your children by doing all this, as well as contributing to your own peace of mind and relationship s with your whole family. Your energy level is incomprehensible. You seriously pick up all over the house and clean the windows DAILY? No way. I really hope your husband has an idea just how much time and energy all of this takes. You have a great career ahead of you when your kids are older. You're amazing!

I recently did a massive declutter in my bathroom... I had a pile of floss too! LOL, Now I am inspired to do my linen closet too!
I store up breathing medication as well and just recently purged most of it this year. I always kept it because the “what-ifs.”
I did this linen closet mess last January. I hauled a large trash bag of stained towels, old sheets and random stuff to the trash. It needs an overhaul again. I think I’ll wallpaper mine too after seeing how nice it looks

Hi Erica, it looks really good. Are you finding decluttering easier the more you do it? If so, it would be interesting to see what your more honed decluttering skills can find in the places you've already tackled. In my home, decluttering is something I really have to stay on top of.
Also, a quick tip. When you next need to apply adhesive vinyl to a hard surface it helps to dampen the surface first. That way you'll be able to peel the vinyl back if it wrinkles or doesn't go on straight. It really helped me so I'm paying it forward 👍

Yes! Decluttering is easier. I just redid my big ikea shelf in the family room after the holiday. This latest declutter of it revealed even less that I wanted to keep on it.

Erica I love your Channel. I want to encourage you to look into the ingredients in all your bathroom products Kitchen products etc etc etc. A lot of the things you have in your house or extremely toxic and there are clean natural products that work instead. Bug spray sunscreen cleaning products shampoo. Everything comes in a clean healthy product. Do it for yourself and for your family. Also consider going organic with your food as well. You will be healthier and happier in the long run!
Erica, would love to see a 30 bags in 30 days challenge. Just going around your house and gathering things to get rid of, trash or donations. I could use a purge like this, it could be a big group follow along.

I just did this today! I live outside of the US and medicine can sometimes be hard to come by. On top of that my son has type 1 diabetes. He has since gone to university and lives a continent away from me but I found myself hoarding all his supplies? Why??? Also, I found that same box of Imodium tablets in my closet. Mine was 10 years old Haha! I feel so much better now that mine is done.

As senior seniors we go through all meds once a month. First aid kit is in car. Current meds and vitamins in pantry next to teas up high. Toiletries and cleaning products are at a non toxic minimum

I love that you organized everything FIRST and then bought exactly what you needed for the space. It is so easy to want to get *oRgaNiZeD* and then buy a bunch of organizing stuff that you tell yourself you will return if you don't use and then never do so it just becomes clutter and wasted money. Not that I've ever done that.................. obviously.
Chuck the chipboard in the bin and get pine plank. Comes in different widths no seams and no paper bubbles which I Cannot abide.... love your film bombing sock stealing pooch. Looking good.
I just trashed LOT of OTC meds too! Next is RX portion, much harder.....
If you ever switch the shelf paper again you can probably get the laminate totally looking new by using scouring powder on it. Ajax will most likely clean all those stains off. I use it regularly on my cabinets, drawers and shelves with great success.
I love that the top of your bedroom closet was actually "linen closet clutter overflow". I will say a sort of weird thing that helped me declutter was thinking about what purpose each room / space was supposed to serve and then only having things that supported that purpose in the space. And now you are going to smile when you open that linen closet. So pretty.

Good job! I totally understand the post-traumatic stress from having a child who was sick. I've saved plenty of expired medication just in case. And yes, in case things go bad in the world, I don't want to have to fight for medication. So I totally understand the zombie apocalypse thinking. I'm very proud of you for taking that step. It's fine to be vigilant, but I know sometimes we take it too far.😊

I found an empty carton of screws today when sorting through a bag of tools and stuff that I have dragged around places in the house in the last months; I had to laugh so hard when I found it because I was thinking of your video that my partner thought I was going crazy :-))))))

Hi Erica! I recently found your channel and have been watching the videos every night since! Love how natural and spontaneous you are. I recently decluttered my bathroom cabinet and threw out sooooooooo many expired meds, creams, ointments, etc. But I took them to the DEA, where they recollect expired medications two times a year; last weekend in April and October, respectively. So, that would be also a great way to dispose of these items. Congratulations again on your channel and will keep to catch up with your videos!! ☺️

My journey has been 2.5 years and counting... Paper is my nemesis, but it's next. I've had to go through every category 3 times~ to get it to fit in my house... I have almost zero storage areas. One of my bedrooms doesn't have a closet... all of my closets are less than 3 feet wide.
But my goal is to remodel my house, add a second bathroom, make the laundry room more functional and less hallway, and perhaps create either a den or a real master bedroom. And actually have an office desk. Because I just don't check on my digital life unless it works efficiently on my phone. Hence.. 23k unread emails...

This is kind of like a walk down memory lane..the random 6 deodorants and lip stuffs were my head shakers. Fun times making all those initial decisions.
