My Trip to Looney Bird's - June 1998

- A childhood trip to the famous Looney Bird's restaurant in Orlando, FL, started by Aaron Fechter. That’s me, the little one-year old boy with the blondish-white hair! This place was a HUGE part of my early childhood, and originally sparked my interest in animatronics. This restaurant also housed the rare "New Rock-afire Explosion" show, which was created in 1992.
Off topic AF. I think it's cute how the employee is singing the ABC's with those two children. So precious!
Edit: Plus, you can tell he loved his job. He was so cheerful and amazing towards the children.

I was there...Not in this video but I visited this place when I was younger. I loved it. It makes me so sad to see how the animatronics look today. I started to cry watching this video it reminded me of my 7th birthday which I had here in 1998 in July. All kids have now is Chuck E. Cheese. I miss this place ): R.I.P Looney Birds.

The website still exists and towns can purchase shows so there is a possibility it could come back and this was a test restaurant to see if people would like it
I wish i was born back in the rock a fire days. Now the only thing I can rely on is Billy Bobs Wonderland!

That is one cool and good conditioned show. I'm impressed at how the tech really cared about that show!
Gosh, I very much recall this place! My father (if I recall correctly) was hired to make the sign for the place (or do the casting or something.....I honestly don't recall the details) and I remember the dozen or so times my sister and I would hang out there. I still drive by that corner store front everytime I drive to the airport, almost on purpose every time, just to remember what once was! Thanks for the memories!
This place is a lot more interactive than Chuck E. Cheese

given how much fun the other employee is having, i doubt it. as someone who's fursuited before, the mask is likely just a little hard to see out of, which is why he tilts his head down and is moving slower- though it does give the impression he's uninterested

This video shows the evolution of the Chuck E. Cheese/Showbiz restaurants. You see that light coming in all those windows? You could count yourself lucky to even *find* a window at my local Showbiz back in the early 80s. In the gaming area I think they liked to rely on a few track and spot lights only while letting the games provide the rest of the illumination. By about 1990 they finally had the place lit up pretty good and eventually added a few windows over the next two decades.
I'd love to go there. Such a bummer it ended up closed early. I can imagine having lot of fun in there, especially since there's the New Rock afire Explosion there. I love the Myjn style Rock afire Explosion as much as the original classic style Rock afire Explosion.
So upsetting that in the 90s everyone actually LIKED the animatronics. 😣

I think Aaron wants more places like this to open to compete with Chuck e cheese. I read an article about this and I'm extremely interested in this! What he wants is for you to open a looney birds in your town and e-mail him if your interested! And I am!!!

Scientist Looney Bird Well can you blame him for wanting to compete with CEC? He was literally threatened by the people he used to be friends with that ran Showbiz/CEC through the 80s into giving up the rights to the Rock A-Fire Explosion and not to have a say in what CEC did to the band or the band would be replaced with Chuck E and friends. It only makes sense for him to want to compete with Chuck E Cheese.
