  • Welcome to my beginner to confident video. Here you will see a montage of footage showing my skating from when I was an absolute beginner to two years later when I have become a far more confident inline skater.
I hope this video will show anybody learning inline skating that with practice and persistence you can improve as a skater.
I still have many more things to learn but my journey so far has been a lot of fun and very rewarding.
Get out there and get skating!

I'm 24 and just got my first pair of inline skates and I'm surprised at how easy they are to balance compares to quad skates! Only thing is, I've been sticking to my apartment's basement this whole time and I'm kind of socially awkward even still at this age haha...I really want to meet new people this way, but most of the skate parks near me are mostly skateboarders and kids with blades on weekends. Any advice you might have would be helpful!

Awesome buddy! good work. it's exciting and addictive to start a new journey learning something, i know. i just started skating myself 34yrs old.
i hope to skate to work starting this spring, i'm in the UK too.
i'm a bit worried about falling due to some twigs or branchs on my route though. it's a good pedestrian path that follows a river for 3 miles but has lots of trees near by.

just revisited this video now 5 weeks in my skating life. saw this video in a totally different light to before. i know what you are doing now, what to aim for. been working on crossovers and powerstop this week. still afraid to try backwards though let alone backwards crossovers. weather permitting that will be next week (maybe) all the best.

I am about three days in and I am STRUGGLING! Foot pain on my arch is the culprit for me having to stop after heading once around my block. Balance is a problem too. I’m trying to maintain some consistency and also have signed up for a 8 week gym training session to hopefully expedite my progress. YOUR VIDS ARE INSPIRATION BUD! Thank you.

    • @whittyskater8854
      @whittyskater8854  Před 4 lety +1

Keep going! Some foot pain is pretty normal when you start out. It takes a while for the feet to adjust. Balance will also soon improve. Just kerp practicing but allow time to rest the body until it gets used to skating. Good luck!

@@whittyskater8854 Well, I have not been skating for about 15 years too, when I tried skating again, man I can tell you, I was just slightly better than a beginner, the balancing part is difficult, but since the skill is there already, you just need to relearn the balancing part, especially when you change to a low friction skate.

Everyone is way more ambitious than I am lol I am hoping by around 7-8 months being able to just skate backwards maybe if I can make it seamless looking I would be positively glowing! I'm not big on jumps or anything else just want to be able to look like I'm gliding lol I just got my skates and did day one and I'm starting at ground zero, I'm working on balancing on one skate with one shoe right now and switching legs after I get the hang of it, I plan to do left leg, then right leg and keep switching till I'm confident on the carpet enough where I can then transition outside but it will be awhile! Your progress is amazing! It was cool to see the stops! I have no idea how to even change direction I tried it and well it wasn't good my foot just went every direction despite my foot fitting pretty well and I do need insoles but it will get there :D

Yeah you should be happy with that level of progression mate, good job. I actually used to skate aggressive inline for like a decade throughout the 90s and it’s good to see it coming back, there’s a joy you get whilst skating that’s hard to convey until you try it yourself. Nice to see others experience it.
Quick question, do you mind if I ask where that skate park was, looks dope.

Just starting to learn how to go backwards now oh, still don't really have any stops down except for gently slowing down

I've been watching your videos for inspiration, watching the skaters that have been skating since they were 10 years old is one thing, but it's interesting to see the progression of someone who started later in life ... I bought my skates a year ago, but after months of just being frozen on the carpet in fear I hired a pro skater to help me get going- I'm now a month into lessons and I've just ventured off the high friction surface and practice every night after the kiddos bedtime on the hardwood, going back and forth... did you take lessons, or have someone assist you with the techniques or did you just pick them up yourself... ? Nice skating, looking forward to seeing more.

I bought a pair of urban freestyle skates, started inline skating on rockered frames first, like 4-5 months ago. I bought a flat frame (PSNext) 4×90s.
Now I can skate cross overs, backwards, transition forward n backwards like a hockey player, and a few criss crosses and jumps. I'm not 100%confident, but getting there.
