What a trip. I enjoyed every second of it. I lived up the Old Nards Road 70 Years ago just before the Towers.
There was a garage owned by the Greer Family in Dundonald. I used to attend school located on the Lower
Nards Road. 90% of the buildings and houses are new of course . Just the Golf course and Stormount left.
I also used to spend the weekends on that little Island off Dee with the Armstrong family, as they had sheep
On the Island. Thanks for posting the bus trip.

Keep these coming.. my daddy loves 'going on a bus trip' since he can't leave the house. "Sure it gets me outta the house" he said today 😂

Born in Donaghadee 1939. Above the Grey painted barbers shop at 50:42 on the left. Father ran a clothing shop there until 1951. Came to Canada 1952. Big purple painted shop was Stewart’s Grocery then. Last visited the Dee with brother Tom Campbell 2018. Lovely town and many improvements have made the place very welcoming. I recommend a stay there to anyone. Thanks for posting the bus trip. My father William Campbell and I always took the train from Dee to Belfast when I was a wee boy, always an adventure for me!

You're very welcome for the bus trip. We had a great day out there. As soon as it's safe to travel again I'll be doing more videos from Belfast. Mind you, it'd be even better if we could still catch the B&CDR train from Queen's Quay to D'dee :-)

Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Done a few trips from Belfast to Bangor and Donaghadee back in 1970.May not have recognised the route after all of these years, but Donaghade appears unchanged.

Great video. I was there with my daughter and her bf just a couple of weeks after this video was shot. In mid-August 2019. On holiday from Australia where we now live. Loved the entire experience being back where I grew up.

Used to love the train trip down to Bangor. Helens Bay , Crawfordsburn, etc. I know things have changed a lot , but from your video, it is still the the same. Also loved going to Portaferry with a ton of the family to get williks. Great times.

Yeap, the bus ride down to Portaferry is definitely high on my list to record; and I'd do the Bangor train if I could get a cab pass.

I love northern Ireland, I'm from the south myself and have been threatened and verbally abused up there so I don't go any more, but I love the place and I love the accent. Always wanted to marry a girl from NI

I think I’ve been here once in my life and never on a bus , I’ve never been in east Belfast either and I lived there 30 years , it was different , good video , to be honest a bit shakey but hey we learn , keep it up mate 👍

Sorry about the shakes. I just used a bulldog-clip-type-thingy with a camera attachment so it didn't absorb any of the bumps from the bus.

Dun Donal i.e. Donal's hill fort was on the location of the later motte on the south side of the road near the crossroads opposite the Ulster Hospital. The motte (locally known as the moat), was constructed by John de Courcy in the 12th century after his conquest of Ulster (or at least Antrim and Down east of the Bann. See my book on Amazon for the story of this amazing Norman adventurer.
