- Belfast people generally do not welcome change of any kind. So how will hey react to the introduction of the new Belfast Glider bus system is anyone's guess!
It has to be said there have been strong complaints about overcrowding, lateness, the bus lanes, the Glider not being able to get into estates like Ballybeen the old service from Belfast did. On the other hand many epople have spoken positively about the Glider.
Here's an interesting question.
How will the Glider fare in snowy and icy conditions? - Auta a dopravní prostředky
Shit that is a nice BRT system. Looks a lot like the ones we have here in the US, minus the level boarding. Reminds me a lot of the Red line in Indianapolis
Hey CIA. Thanks for dropping by. It's always interesting to know about your bus transport options over across the pond. Best wishes from the Belfast Castlereagh hills.
these buses are truly diabolical. I live in Dundonald and i have to get a bus to the bus which alone has slowed down my service to the city centre. I have had hell with it as a passenger and as a motorist. I don't quite understand the ticket machines and wifi is non functioning. My mother who has arthritis in her hands is now unable to use the bus at all because she cannot hold onto the poles in and these stupid things are always full so she cannot bag a seat. unimpressed is one way of putting it
Hey thanks for posting Ian and bringing it to everyone's attention.
This is pretty terrible. Another poster Andy told me the the same thing about living in Ballybeen and having to get 2 buses now to get into Belfast. . The number of seats is obviously far too few. Your mum cannot stand and hang on! I would be raging too if i was in your situation. The Glider set up is definitely not working for you and quite a few other people. Translink need to do something about this now. Best wishes
can hardly blame the bus for it being busy and your ma not getting a seat. not impressed
Yes Tom, we live in coopers mill so our feeder services are less frequent too, I know a lot of people who like it too but I think it's important to add perspective from all angles.
it's really not good but we're working with what we've got. I'm glad others see our points of view
They look nice. They wanted to do this in Dublin a few years ago but the plan has been put on hold now as they want to completely redraw the bus network in Dublin meaning people will have to change buses more often but the buses will be more frequent which is good. Also a new bus company called Go-Ahead won the tender to some of the Dublin Bus routes and is starting to operate soon.
Hi Stephen, The Belfast glider has been planned for years now. Belfast like other cities has a traffic problem. People buy cars and understandably want to use them to get to work in the city.
Yes the Glider does look good and as you would expect there have been a lot of early problems. Who knows if it will turn out a success long term. Opinion is very much divided. Best wishes and thanks for dropping by.
How will it run on snow?
Now there's a good question Socal!
A lot of expensive buses going up and down, and if you look their is really not many people on them!
Yep I'm afraid so Andy in many cases. People including me like the independence a car or motorbike brings.
they are building about a billion new houses in dundonald so presumably it'll meet that future demand.
I can't see there being 105 people waiting on that monstrosity every 8 to 10 minutes - What a waste of money!
Hey Robert tanks for calling in. A lot of people would certainly agree with you on this. As yet I don't know what to think. It all depends on who you talk to.
Cant help thinkin those busses wud look good spread across the road in flames
You are allowed to think it Brian. A lot of posters would probably agree with you.
There need more speed
Hi Gareth, thanks for dropping by. Best wishes.
