@@lemonjuice6715 Ah, you should use a sifter anyways! I didn't think to mention that because that's something we do for tea powder management in classes, regardless of what we're making. Thank you for mentioning it! Storing the matcha sealed in the fridge helps keep it fresh longer as well, and controls humidity. :) High humidity makes the matcha tend to clump more, and sifting much more vital.

Then I add a couple tbsp of water and whisk that together (with the whisk on now) until fully combined. Then I add coconut milk and ice. That way I only have to use the one glass.

    I’m hooked on iced matcha latte’s 😍
I use about 1/4 cup heated water (not too hot or it will burn the matcha which makes it bitter) and add a teaspoon of matcha to it. I use Ippodo matcha which is very fine and I rarely see any lumps so I don’t even bother sifting it. Then, I use my handheld frother that I got for like ten bucks on Amazon and it’s ready in a matter of seconds. I pour it over a glass of almond coconut milk with ice and add a drop or two of vanilla extract & about half a teaspoon of agave syrup. Give it a little stir and I just about inhale it because it’s so good ❤️

I got a way that doesn’t even need a machine OR a sifter. Just a spoon, the powder, milk, and cream
I’ve only used heavy cream since I use that for other recipes too. You add a tiny bit of heavy cream to the powder, stir with the spoon. It should be like a paste, then continue adding a little bit of the cream at a time and stirring once or twice. After you have a smooth LIQUID then you can pour in the milk and stir. Tada! Hope this helps!

I'm a tea student, and we try to spread the understanding that "tea ceremony" is a misnomer because it is not religious. I think "sacred" has a similar misunderstanding with it. There is certainly a "traditional way of doing it," which varies by which established tradition you're following, but it's traditional for being old and respected, and not for being a religious ceremony. It was misinterpreted due to Orientalism in the modern period by western and European scholars who travelled the Asian continent and wrote about their "discoveries" but recorded them through the lense of their own western and European experience without trying to view it from the lense of the culture it is writing about. The methodical practice tea senseis describe as simply "logical," and not ceremonial. A lot of Buddhist references appear in tea utensils and scrolls, but again, tea practitioners typically do not make and display their own creations, but the creations of others who have dedicated their lives to the betterment of society, regardless of religious affiliation. And this tea practice was developed in a country in which most people were aware of Buddhist symbols and mantras, regardless if they themselves are Buddhist, and Buddhist symbolism is rampant within that society. Also, this means a lot of people recognized as having dedicated their lives to the betterment of society also happen to be Buddhists, but they don't have to be Buddhists. Calling tea gatherings "tea ceremonies" confuses The Way of Tea with Zen Buddhist tea ceremony used for meditation. The former is a secular in practice and welcomes people of any religious affiliations equally, and their interpretations of the words of the scroll equally. The latter is a religious ceremony as part of a specific religious practice. So, the tea practice I follow, and any I am aware of, prefer to stop this misunderstanding by instead translating Chadou literally as "Way of Tea," and temai as "tea gathering." 🍵 I hope you enjoy the matcha, no matter how it is prepared!

My lazy matcha latte (I don’t have a milk frother):
    - In your mug mix matcha powder with either sugar syrup, maple syrup or honey
    - at first it will look dry but keep mixing with a spoon at some point it makes a wet paste
    - add milk that’s already warmed up in a saucepan, or even lazier: top with cold milk and put in microwave
    - once the milk is warm because it’s a matcha paste and not matcha powder it mixes with the milk perfectly, never any lump!

Matcha tip : the casein found in animal milk reduce by ~30% our absorption of matcha's polyphenols. Vegetal milk is not only an equally delicious option, your body gets all the goodness matcha has to give 💚
