Paddleboarder Falls Near a Great White Shark/ Over 20 Sharks Near Shore!

  • In this week's shark update, I share some footage of over 20 young white sharks near the shore and I film a paddleboarder fall off his board near a shark.

      Grant try Makaha I once was looking for puka shells in shallow water maybe three or four feet deep and three Tiger sharks was circling I ran out of water as quickly as I could and beach boys came with spears. This was back in the seventies or eighties.

    I swam at a beach here in Australia about chest high in water. I got out when I'd had enough only to be told by 2 different surfers that they got out of the water too because a shark was circling me. They were trying to get my attention but I didn't look their way. I respect their territory even in shallow water now.

      What you don't know is there are hundreds of sharks well offshore, along all beaches in Australia, specially as the water gets warmer.

    I grew up surfing in these waters. We always saw all kinds of creatures out in the water including sharks. We have no idea how many sharks all around us when we're in the ocean.

    Statistics: 4 people each year die to shark attacks.

      are we sure? I always notice that hundreds of millions of people live and work on or near the ocean all around the world, like Africa, South and Central America, Asia, Arabia. In spite of that, nearly all of the reported attacks and deaths always seem to happen in places that either speak English or have Western tourists. While I doubt it's all that high, I wonder how many attacks, deaths and encounters happen in the rest of the world, where there's no internet or news agencies.

    I want to thank you for showing us the true side of the great white. I have been fascinated with sharks since a child. I have even dove with sharks in Florida and Bahamas. They are not the monsters some people make them out to be. They are beautiful misunderstood fish. Thank you again for the education and care you show them. Keep the beautiful videos coming.       The 'chilling, teenage' side of the great white. At this size they still eat smaller sharks, rays, skates and other bottom fish. If they let themselves be seen they're not on the hunt.

    Love the footage.. my dad grew up in Santa Cruz and tells stories of how he'd go surfing at dusk (still dark by Seal Island) before school and dusk after school back in the early 70s. I always thought he was crazy doing it. I go their alot for Vacation to visit family and surf, but never at dark!! Great video again..

    Don't know if this is 100% accurate but in Florida we tell people that any time you are in the ocean, there is a shark no more than 50 feet from you.

      That's accurate. Grew up in Hawaii my 5th grade teacher echoed the same sentiments. He said every time you get in the ocean there is at least 1 shark in a 100 yard radius.

      lol fisherman wish that was truth, but in some spots they can concentrate, but if you talking any average spot thats absolute nonsense, if you count only bigger than 5 feet sharks, average would be one every 5 miles in costal waters, much less in open ocean

    I live a bit further up the coast, within the Monterey Bay Marine Mammal Sanctuary. I’ve seen 18 foot great whites just off shore, and found such things as the middle third of an elephant seal on the beach. We’ve had fishermen in kayaks attacked (they were behaving stupidly). I still swim in the ocean.

    Cool video. From my understanding female great white birth off the submarine canyon off Blacks Beach in San Diego. Near shore waters I know are healthier than before with improved sewage treatment etc. Visiting my brother this summer I saw a juvenile from the bluff in Encinitas. Was within 70 feet from shore.
