Watched every second on TV, but I still looked forward to these highlights.
I dont use the term "dismantled" often, but the Detroit f*cking Red Wings dismantled the Blues today. No game is 100% perfect, but that's as close to a perfect game as I've seen them play in many years. Excellent puck possession, dynamic cycling, defense and goaltending was the story today. Incredible work by the boys. Couldn't be happier with how the new year has been for our Wings.
I don't even think dominating even covers it. That was one of the most incredible decimations of a talented hockey club I've ever seen.
Right from the jump, the Red Wings fed off the momentum of their win over Colorado and absolutely laid the smackdown on the Blues' asses today.
Let's see if they can carry that momentum with them into Chicago tomorrow night.

Was in Section 119 - the vibes were immaculate. First RW game in 10+ yrs - the boys were buzzing. Playoff hungry and ready for action. On ice comms were on point as well, could hear from the stands. Dem boys were straight class.

The way Kane sauced it over the D-man’s stick, sending it right into DeBrincat’s wheelhouse for a one-timer was chef’s kiss. Perfect sauce pass.
Yzerman has built a balanced team. We have the star power. We have the depth. We have the goal tending. We have the veterans. We have the offense. We have a defense that has a potential to be very great. And we have so many great young prospects. Yzerman is the best GM in the league.
Don't forget that the Red Wings have the most and best fans in the NHL hands down!!!! Awesome to see the arena buzzing again.. Bet old Bettman doesn't like that!!!
Yzer still have to prove how he is rebuilding with all the talented prospects still in AHL. Why Peron and Berggren on the outside? For how long will Edvinson be "developing" in Grand Rapids?

No, we do have guys that can compete with the big stars.
Those "big stars" have to put up huge individual numbers or their teams likely never go on deep playoff runs. Oilers and Leafs perfect example. Imagine having any one of McDavid, Draisaitl, or Mathews and not even sniffing a cup. You have to build a team, and nobody understands that better than the greatest team player of all-time in Yzerman.
Yep! It is..😊 you have to keep in mind that it takes time for all that talent Stevie-Y aquired takes time to gel.. I'm nit surprised that thus team is hitting their stride now.. Stevie-Y literally changed HALF of the team's roster this past off season

Stevie-Y is very calculated.. this why he isn't so quick to pull the trigger on just bringing in any type of players for this squad and like the Lions because this team is hated on while being good and rising, they're GOING TO MAKE THE PLAYOFFS!... @@vmi4172 Kucherov and Point weren't top 5 or top 10 picks, or even first rounders. Stamkos and Hedman were already on the team. Vasi is the only guy on that list that was both a first rd pick and drafted by Yzerman. Anyway, this Wings team has never had the lottery luck to land an instant star player like Stamkos or Hedman. It had to be built differently. It's like you completely missed the point of my post.

They’re finally getting their defensive act together, and Lyon is playing outstanding. DeBrincat and Kane are just a sick match. They’re starting to look like a contender team. It would seem the shellacking they got from Edmonton put some fire in their bones!

I was at the game, the energy was palpable. The first period was crushing, absolute domination!
They just put on a clinic. Lyon once again was a stone wall (minus one goal), and the offense applied a lot of pressure. The passing alone reminded me of the late 90s and early 2000s teams.
