  • Noisy sound is a notification of blades imbalanced. Clean off the dust and re-torque all the screws securing the blades would help solve the problem (not showed in video).
    When the fan failed to start or not so smooth while starting all you need to do would be to change the capacitor.
    The 0.1 uF 245 V capacitor cost less than Rm2.
    My fan had multiple issues. A power surge happened and burned two capacitors.
    The 630V 845J CBB22 capacitors is rather hard to come by. Not every shop sell it. It cost Rm2.

    Tks Liew, I hv the same problem with this type of panasonic fan. Ihv change the PCB once some 4 yrs back but now it is happening again, rattling sound and the fan is spinning very slow. But thks to your video I will try to change that capacitor C1 and hope it will solve my problem.

      It is a common issue for ceiling fan. Can’t afford to always change the whole board when it is a capacitor not working.

      @@CityBoyLiew , Hi Liew, I went to Jln Pasar, bought 2 sets of caps - .1microF n .82microF and change both on my 2 panasonic ceiling as both also started to spin very slowly and gave a grinding sound. Whalla, after changing the caps, both fans now work perfectly, much tks to you. I chked the faulty caps with multimeter and indeed it was partially bad, very low capacitance, from 100nf it now becomes 15nf.

      Another easier alternative would be to apply a thick layer (1mm) Vaseline Silicone Jelly over the inner wall of the fan's cover. It provide a buffer layer between the cover and the main body. Don't forget to apply onto the clip as well. That buzzing noise were suspected to be caused by the friction between plastics. You may get one small bottle easily from pharmacy.

    Hi Mr. Liew, was wondering if a fan speed remained same no matter which speed you choose from the remote, will that be a problem to the capacitor also ? ... and if that's the case, can i also use the method of changing capacitor rather than changing the whole PCB ? i am using F-M14-D9

    • @CityBoyLiew
      @CityBoyLiew  Před 5 lety

      I did not have the device required. It will always be the biggest capacitor seen on board not working or the tiny one as showed in video not working. If the fan remained the same will always be the motor capacitor not working. I would buy both capacitor and change the bigger one first. If problem persist will changed the smaller one.

    Wow... Thanks! Informative! I have KRK 3 speed remote ceiling fan capacitor replaced too! 3rd speed was slow as 2nd speed! Finally, replacement on 1.8uf 500vac capacitor (other 2 : 2.4uf 250vac & 5.0uf 250vac) then 3rd speed back to as it is! So Bro. Do you know which capacitor controls the 1st & 2nd speed? Still, how to solve the "little ticking sound"?

    • @CityBoyLiew
      @CityBoyLiew  Před 4 lety +2

      My wild guess will be one of those red color non polar capacitors. The smallest value one perhaps for slower speed. I had lots of sleepless night caused by the “little ticking” sound. I tried apply petroleum jelly around the brim of the cover. It seems working for a few days. I remembered someone below mentioned about the ticking annoying sound caused by the bigger capacitors. Not really sure if it will be applicable for your situation.

      @@CityBoyLiew thanks for your prompt response! Erm, I think of that way too 1.8uf might control the lowest speed compare to the 5uf capacitor controls highest speed! But, since I couldn't find the 2.4uf and 5uf capacitor, then I replaced the 1.8uf to just did a test, boom... It's 3rd speed's capacitor! Haha.
      Oh, so he/she from the comment finally solved the ticking noice by changing the highest reading capacitor? black or red?) Then I shall change all the rest to give it a try? Haha.

      @@raymondlooi You can get all the capacitor you need from AliExpress. The higher capacitance control higher speed. The yellow one is a safety capacitor or most time we call x2 capacitor. It has nothing to do with fan speed. Usually is just to filter noise in power supply line so the fan would not cause interface signal to near by electronic devices.

  • @diysg1632
    @diysg1632 Před 6 lety +1

    Tbh it's wrong capacitor, these fans the noise is caused by the motor capacitor 1.6 - 1.9uF 500v, depending on the model. I've used multimeter to check and the capacitor mentioned in the video along with those surrounding are always fine on many fans I've repaired. It's always the motor capacitor that loses its charge and causes the motor to hum due to insufficient current. The burn marks don't really indicate anything cos the capacitor themselves are always okay when tested for capacitance.

      Try rotate the other side or spray small amount of lubricant. It could have jam or plastics melts and stick onto each other. Some model do rotate the other side. It occurred to me once when the cover don’t know why becomes to hard to open. Try also push in then rotate. The notch can be slightly bigger that’s way jammed. Not really act of other people. It is definitely mechanical.
