    Nice enough...but for me, too close to the mall. I worked in Boulevard Plaza and I used to wonder who could afford to live around downtown, but didn't think about it too much, the traffic at times wasn't to my liking. At that time I stayed in a hotel in Al Barsha for a little while, which was great, as I could go running in Al Barsha park in the mornings.
    However, skip forward 8 years, and I came back, but to Business Bay, which is close to Down Town (1 stop on the Metro), but you get to walk bit (exercise 😅) if you're going to eat at the mall.

    Stayed there for a couple weeks last year. Thought about moving there but got a way better deal from opera. Still this building is best in Downtown in my opinion. The traffic lights to get to fountain are painful though 😅

    Hey Tuomas, what do you think of the hate on Dubai that recently came after the storm? I was honestly shocked by how disgusting the response of the Reddit hivemind was to the natural disaster that happened, and how they are celebrating our "downfall". A post celebrating the "downfall" had 11k upvotes on r/dankmemes.

      No, I think it showed the city was woefully unprepared for heavy rain. All this hype about Dubai being so modern, and it was stalled by a weather event will millions (billions?) in damage and losses.

    • @jamesricks
      @jamesricks Před 4 měsíci

      There are stupid people who say that it was because of Dubai helping Israel by not paying for weapons to destroy them, and there are more stupid people who are saying cloud seeding caused the storm.
      But I think it’s a genuine question/ concern about the building codes and storm preparedness. This would have been a heavy storm anywhere, but other places that have them more frequently do things to prepare. Dubai hasn’t had anything like this recently, so I think it will be a good learning opportunity for people to prepare for these in the future.
      Hoping they can rebuild quickly!

    • @moarzt
      @moarzt Před 4 měsíci

      @@clippertonislander1478 It wasn't "heavy rain"... Heavy rain occasionally happens every other year and it's fine. For the climate of Dubai, this was a true natural disaster. It's not normal to build a desert climate city to handle a storm of that magnitude, so I wouldn't really call it unpreparedness.

    What's the point of living in a luxurious place if you are not going to take advantage of the amenities? Is it just for the view? The address? I don't get it. You can be holed up at home in front of a computer all day in a trailer park in Ashfork, Arizona. What's the point of being in Dubai if you are not going to enjoy it?

    Onko Dubai marina mielestäsi hyvä alue lyhytaikaiseen asumiseen? Tai entä pidempiaikaiseen? The Walk kadulta näköjään kävelee metroasemalle 26min siis sieltä, missä ajattelin alkuun asua. Liikkumiseen varmaan menee aikaa, mutta onko sen minimoimisen suhteen Marina hyvä? Noin alueenahan se näyttää hyvältä ja siellä on julkinen ranta ja siellä rannassa varmaan voi kävellä, juosta, pyöräillä, sähköskuuttailla tai rullaluistella ulkoilu/huvi/treenimielessä, vai? En siis ole vielä käynytkään Dubaissa :D. Abu Dhabin kautta oli tarkoitus tulla katselemaan paikkoja syksyllä-alkutalvesta. Mielestäni Suomessa on maailman 197 maan joukossa valitettavasti huonoin ilmasto tai kova kisa Islannin kanssa siitä 🤔.

      Puhut takseista aika paljon. Ilmeisesti kumipyöräliikenne vetää ihan hyvin, mutta eikö metro silti ole nopeampi, jos sattuu olemaan asiointi sen varrella? Metro siellä näyttää tosi siistiltä verrattuna moneen muuhun kaupunkiin 👍. Ei ehkä ole purkkaa, kusta tai muuta saastaa penkeillä, niin voi istua puvunhousuillakin 🙃?

      Ja siis 5000usd/kk:han nyt on ihan älyttömän kova hinta pienehköstä asunnosta eli vuokrataso on Dubaissa ja UAE:ssa korkea, jonka kertoo numbeokin. Sijainnistahan tuossa maksetaan.

    • @tuomaskiv
      @tuomaskiv  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Marinassa kaikki on kavelymatkan paassa, siella kun asun niin en tarvitse autoa/takseja paljoa.
      Metro on hyva jos sattuu olemaan sen varrella, silti Marina -> Downtown yleensa 50% nopeampu taksilla ellei tarkka lahto/menopaikka ole just metron varrella.
      5k usd/kk ei ole normaali hinta, tama maksaa sijainnin vuoksi niin paljon. Alle 3k/kk saa hyvia Marina/Downtown

      Ja varmaan esim. Deirassa vielä halvempaa, jos hotellien hinnat antaa mitään indikaatiota. Mut täytyy tietty itse käydä katsomassa, mistä tykkää. Asuinpaikan hmm... mikrosijainnilla on paljon väliä viihtyvyyden kanssa.
