    Giant Egg and Nest, created for Icon, for Sony's Angry Birds Movie promo event in Cannes, as a red carpet feature. Carved from polystyrene / styrofoam, egg moulded from glass fibre, and the nest given a fibreglass blanket coat and art worked. Egg made from a 2 part spray foam, applied inside the egg mould, to break apart on cue on location in France.

    One thing that is always so enjoyable about your videos is that it shows a fantastic team of people who actually enjoy working on their projects and with one another. There are way too many TV shows, at least here in the U.S., that feature building of one thing or another where a significant part of the show deals with how badly the workers interact with one another.

      Roger Garrett trust me, we have our moments too. Perhaps Sean's just good at selecting the good bits ;) but we should toootally have our own show!

      Maria Bergin Hi Maria, we were sent the tri wizard cup prop from the film, to replicate at 3 meters tall. Pop over to our website, click on port folio, and search for it and take a look :)

    Aden: what is the product that looks like cement used on the "eyes" of the proyect at min 15.25 ? im looking for a finishing product for exterior and i didnt want to use the fiberglass. this looks like a solution, ! Thank You !

    • @AdenHynesSculptureStudios
      @AdenHynesSculptureStudios  Před 7 lety +1

      Hi Xime, this is just a soft, water based plaster filler. So not really appropriate for outside use. This isn't by any means a strong product either. The fibreglass underneath is what has provided the strength, and this is just to smoothen it down, and we could get away with using this on this occassion as it only needed to last 1 day. But its certainly not a product that can be used outside much, or something that can be used on its own soley for strength. Fibreglass would still be my recommendation, or at least a car body filler, which would use a resin.

      Great video. I always enjoy seeing what you guys create.
      One thing I'd like to see, is how you make things like ice bergs and paint them with the different shades of blue to them look so real. I'd also like to make some ice archways going into and around my Christmas display.
      I have my own polyurethane foaming machine, and can spray 40 pounds....I mean 18kgs a minute. haha I build monolithic domes, so I buy 1,000 lbs. (455kgs) sets by the semi load.
      A few tips to make something like that would be great. The skills you guys have to create, is God given, and for me, it's a spectator sport so to speak. Anyway, keep up the great work.

      @AdenHynesSculptureStudios  Před 7 lety

      wjf213 Hi wjf, where abouts are you based? I'd be interested in seeing this polyurethane machine!

    • @wjf213
      @wjf213 Před 7 lety

      Hi Aden, I'm in Louisiana about half way between New Orleans and Houston Texas. I have two machines actually. An H-40 and an E-20, both Graco's with 200 foot of hose each or about 61 meters. My E-20 was my main machine for a few years, but with building bigger and bigger domes, I needed to move A LOT more foam and A LOT faster.
      As I'm sure you know, these things are NOT cheap. Heck the hoses, last time I bought them were around $25 a FOOT, and they only last a couple years before they're needing to be replaced. The gun was around $2,000, plus you need a big air compressor and a BIG generator if you're spraying some where without power.
      I have around $50,000 in my first machine, because it's mounted in an enclosed trailer as well. I did buy all brand new equipment, because these things, if not taken care of and I mean REALLY taken care of, they will fail and cost you big $$$ to fix, not to mention down time. The best thing to do, is use them at least...at LEAST once a week and maintain it like surgical equipment, but then that's how I take care of everything I own.
      The 1,000 pound sets, two 55 gallon drums, of A & B if left unopened, will last a long time, but once opened, "MY RULES" are, that it will be used up within a few weeks or so. I never let mine go longer than that. I will actually spray insulation for someone for free, just to get the stuff out of the system. It's cheaper to give it away than to start repairing plugged up components and the down time, but when you give it away, you also make friends who don't forget you and always return the favor in the future. I also loan out the smaller machine with MY GUY TO RUN IT, and do favors and get favors in return.
      I also have concrete pumps that move 25 and 75 yards an hour. Those are Schwing pumps, and again, we trade and help each other out so we keep costs down for each other and our customers and still make a nice profit as well. Anyway, keep up the great work.
