048 Crimsworth Dean and Dyeworks

  • The waterways and dams along Crimsworth Dean (valley) were made to supply the Crimsworth Dean Dyeworks at Midgehole which were producers of Fustian (a cotton product similar to corduroy). I had about a dozen ancestors who worked there, the Wild/Wilde family.

    Fascinating,it would be wonderful if such places were still working. I'm not familiar with that area but think I started and finished a long walk at Midgehole about 20 years ago,seem to think we parked near a Working Men's Club?
