What a great posting. I have some info about how things in this looked and so many questions I would like answering. Bit of a cheek I know but, would anybody who knows about the old photos be willing to meet up for a coffee and talk me through some of them?

Enjoyed that. I first came across "thankful villages" in a book by Stuart Maconie. Culpho is a few miles from Ipswich, where I grew up and I've cycled through the village hundreds of times. I'd never noticed or considered the lack of a war memorial until now. Thanks.

you can walk to the back of the tunnel/ blockage without issue. Clayton tunnel has the remains of a cannabis farm in the far end that was in the papers...

Yup, ladybird larvae. Good news for your garden because they eat aphids and greenfly by the boat load.

That's a baby ladybird / ladybird larvae. They love eating pests :)

The picture of Buttress Brink with the woman stood outside the houses and the pram, is a picture of my mom and my sister Julie (in the pram) who died aged 2. My Mom has just passed away 89. I was 5 at the time and now live in NZ

My Husband and me have walked many times on this canal. Walked from Hebden Bridge to Todmorden onto Walsden then Rochdale, and back again. Phew!! Our feet were sore after, because of the miles, but also we were wearing brand new walking boots, quite a few blisters. But definitely worth it, amazing scenery, and fresh air.

The Mount Skip Inn was later a B&B where my husband and I stayed at one time. ("Inhabited"!!)

Lived in Sowerby bridge all my 62 years and didnt have a clue about any of this, why all the bridges?, did trains run on a line under each of them?, where did the lines go too and from?, cheers

Fascinating,it would be wonderful if such places were still working. I'm not familiar with that area but think I started and finished a long walk at Midgehole about 20 years ago,seem to think we parked near a Working Men's Club?

This is a nice collection. I've not seen some of these before. I wonder what the loads were under the sheets in the pic @1:09? The pic @2:25 may well be the last train *returning via* North Bridge, but it's not North Bridge itself, this is platform 4 at Halifax. The clock is helpfully showing 7.22. The last inbound train was due to arrive from Keighley at 7.19. A parcels train would have left for Bradford at 8.05 but did not return. Following closure of the line to passenger traffic, the 8.05 parcels train continued to run, but went via Low Moor. Many thanks for putting this together! Best wishes, Ed.

Great filming, thank you. I used to walk up Scout Road and then climb up to where you are filming. This was over 40 years ago so it was not woodland covered back then. Would then walk over the Nab End quarry to where i lived at the time. This was just one shortcut home from Calder High School in the late 70s for me.

This area is absolutely our most favourite place to visit. You'll fall in love with the area, we have stayed a few times in the Mount skip b&b fantastic place beyond comfortable, and the breakfast are amazing. Clean fresh air can't beat the Calder Valley. Hope your feeling better mate?

I came to Halifax in around 76/77 from Ireland i worked in Hillcrest foundry brighouse rd. i only stayed a couple of years then i went back home on Saturdays there was a big market day in the piece hall it was a fantastic atmosphere brings back great memories i loved Halifax of course it's changed. great video.

I was born in Tod back in the 60's and lived there for 10 years. Fond memories of everything I did and the people I knew back then.
