DDJT Full Review: www.digitaldjti...
For their first controller since acquisition by inMusic, Denon DJ's MC4000 positions itself fully toward working DJs. A dependable, compact 2-channel controller designed for Serato DJ, it features two mic inputs with echo, talk-over, and post function (feedback reduction), perfect for mobile DJs. What does the MC4000 change from other Denon models, and what does it keep? A separate sampler area with volume control gives us something new...what else? The video and full article review have the rest!
First off I want to thank Digital DJ Tips for the great review on the MC4000.(You helped me make my choice) I purchased one about 2 weeks backs and finally got to play out with it for a solid 6 hrs last night!. It was such a pleasure. The layout is pefect and sound quality was of Pristine Denon quality. The build is very solid as I have checked out quite a few and for this $ to get XLR 2 Mic pre's and booth out, youll be set for a long time. I have to buy the full licence of Serato next but used the demo to play the gig, I also Own DJAY pro and it loaded and was mapped perfectly as well. Highly recommended for a stress free mix experience!
Hey bro, does the Serato Dj Pro full license includes all the FX expansion ?
I am planning to but serato dj pro
help me out!
Nice! Lots of little details that appeal to me. Thanks for this review!
I've been looking at a bunch of controllers and I think this one is the best value for me, a trade off between buying a no frills budget model and the higher end models that have built in DVS support which Serato certainly charge a premium for. I would be inclined to eventually add the Reloop Neon to enhance it's SP6 slicing, looping and fx capabilities with its larger RGB pads also being great for finger drumming and if I want DVS later on, the Denon DS1 would be the best option for me. Thanks for the great video Phil.
The 4000 is a great choice Richard
I use the denon mc4000 with a neon reloop and it works well... this controller in my opinion is 2nd best to the mc6000mk2 for mobile djs.... denon packed alot into this mc4000 and mc6000 mk2 MAKING IT BEST CHOICE FOR MOBILE WORKING DJS
6:54 Us Americans are like, "Wow, that's pretty heavy. Wait, ohhhhhhhh"
+Frank Pirolo Haha :D
Not American but saaaaaaaaaaaaaame! same!
Excellent video! This is an awesome controller.
Thanks for the vid mc4000 is shipping in ... very excited!
+Joe Hobbs Jr :D awesome! Let us know what you think
it looks like pioneer has got some serious upcoming challengers!!
I would avoid buying this MC4000, my cue button stopped working after a year with very light usage during the time period. However, this was a good review of the product. Good advice as always.
How do you get both left and right meters to display at the same time when playing a track on either deck, my mc3000 always did this
Great video Phil. I've read recently that vestax corp has been rebranded STP VESTAX, I hope to see some rewiews when they start launching dj controllers again. I'm an owner of the VCI 300mk2, and I hope u get your hands on something to compete with the pioneer products out there. Let us know when you have word on what STP VESTAX has up their sleeves.
+Dale Ramdeen Will do :)
nice review you are very good
It's a really good opcion
Excellent review. Thank you!
You're welcome Greg. This is currently my controller of choice...
Love my denon jr serato!
Thanks for this reviews... I played at a place last night that had this controller. I could never find how the pad mode work on the fly. That tip on the VU meters also cleared what I thought... they suck hahaha. Keep it up :)
Will do, cheers Juan 👊
hi there. how are the knobs and faders? do they feel smooth and sturdy? are they long lasting? i use them quite extensive, especially the eq's and channel faders. hope to get an answer. thanks
+cool cat Denon controllers are very sturdy, durable pieces of kit - they should last for quite awhile.
i have an mc 6000 for about 5 years now and no issues at all
can you pls show a youtube video of how to do the mapping of mc4000 to algoriddim djay pro.thnks.
Hi Jun! Unfortunately that's a bit outside what we do here in terms of videos, but you're welcome to ask on our Digital DJ Tips forum - (www.digitaldjtips.com/forum), this way the whole community can see your issue and hopefully help you out :)
Jun Lorica I might be able to help if you still need it
hello , i have a question
can denon Mc4000 use Cdj?
where can i buy this controller? does anyone know?
Good review. Thanks.
appreciate the video!!
+BigIsaacTV Sure! :)
Hi Phil. I am working in IT and just getting started with DJ-ing as a hobby. I am trying to choose a controller and these are the options I am down with. Which one do you suggest?
1. Pioneer DDJ 400
2. Pionner DDJ SB3
3. Denon DJ MC4000
4. Traktor S2 Mk3
Another questions is, once I have the controller, where should I start? Would you suggest any online course that would get me started with basics and then build on it.
Start here, it's all the info you need to choose a controller and get started: djtips.co/join :)
Hi, can this be used as a mixer? As in, if someone wants to run into the controller from another controller or computer?
+Anthony Hernandes Unfortunately no, just used with software, you'll want to look into the MC6000 Mk2: www.digitaldjtips.com/2014/05/review-video-denon-dj-mc6000-mk2/
lets hope this controller didn't inherit numark's platter issues . * although their was an improvement from the 4trak to the NV *
what platter problems are you talking about? Ive had a 4trak for 2 years with no issues at all with the platters
numark (InMusic) platters generally have issues with static , more so than pioneer,
can i use MC4000 as a audio interface for mastering? good dac chipset?
You might be better off with a different interface solution, but imagine it's worth testing out :)
i got about 500 for a controller what should i get
All the info you need is in our free DJ controller/software guide - grab it by joining here digitaldjtips.com/join :)
is this deck worth the $150 more than the Pioneer DJ DDJ-SB2? I know the Denon has pro-grade steel construction. Any feedback is appreciated..thanks in advance.
Is it an improvement on the mc2000? You thnkCheers
Didnt understand what you meant with the VU's 'showing 1 dimly behind the other' but great review nonetheless.
In regards to the mic echo does it give you the option to adjust both time and volume of the echo?
Also you said at the end that most DJs will already have Serato and will be changing controller... how would that work if theyre coming from a unit like the vestax 380, ns6, novation twitch etc as the software is tied to that unit?
Hi Phil, Nice review just bought one and mapped it with Virtual DJ the only buttons not working are the fx buttons can I configure them within VDJ ?
Sorry, I don't know that! Virtual DJ's forum is a good place to ask.
do you know if they've fixed the VU meters?
+Max Toupin Not as of now (I don't think)
hi, how do you perform the mapping of mc4000 to djay pro?
Well spoken
Thanks for watching!
hi.
i play music with new denon mc4000 and serato 1.9.1 one month but
whenever I play sometimes ACTIVATED some buttons without i press
button.!!!! Activated like a effect or loop or pause on it's own and
goes to drive me crazy.... Why ???
my laptop is dell intel core i5-4200 1.6ghz to 2.3ghz 6gb ram and
windows 10
John Zour are you still experiencing this or found a solution? I think this happened to me today a couple of times
Nice!
Thanks!
Will the mc4000 work with Virtual DJ ?
Hey Marlon, yep, it should!
Marlon Green perfectly actually
does this have a full version of serato
It only includes Intro, but you can upgrade to the full version
Hello can you tell me if I have to purchase Serato Dj if I already have it? Cause it's not connecting to the unit and I'm running the latest Serato Dj. It really don't make sense that I would have to purchase it if I already have it but just want to know what I'm doing wrong here. Thank you
+DJ A.SAUCE You shouldn't have to repurchase, I'd suggest trying to get help direct from the company - here's a link to a page where we list all the main forums and support sites (look for Serato and Denon): www.digitaldjtips.com/3rd-party-support/ Good luck!
+Digital DJ Tips thank you
maybe you have a driver issue?
Are the transport buttons clicky or are they MPC styled pads?
+B Flat Fairly clicky on those
does it have echo out effects?
Denon MC4000 or Pioneer DDJ 400?
MC4000
@@digitaldjtips How about in compared with the Pioneer DDJ RR? thanks for your insights.
I'd suggest checking out our gear guide if you're not sure what you're after Marv, that and getting to a shop that stocks a few is your best bet :) djtips.co/join
@@digitaldjtips will do, thanks a lot!
how do I select a track to the right?! Do I have to use a mouse!!? Then scroll down?!
+David Irons You should be able to use the top part of the mixer section (Load buttons on either side of the 'library' knob) - Use the knob to scroll through tracks and 'load' button to load them into deck A or B
I'm looking to get this as my next DJ controller as an upgrade from a NuMark MixTrak Pro (yes the original!). I didn't quite understand what this guy was saying , but do those 8 pads have the same functionality through the shift button or some other function button as a 16 pad controller would? I know this video is mad old but I'm hoping someone can help me out. Thanks.
There is no such thing as a 16-pad DJ controller, each function is spread across eight pads (ie eight hot cues etc). Only exception is sometimes the sampler, which can have selectable layers.
do you have to buy full version of serato dj to get all the pad functions?
yes
Do you know if there’s a way to change the pitch of one song without changing the tempo?(not the pitch bend feature)
If you buy the Pitch 'n Time expansion pack for Serato, it has that as an option, although you may need to use the mouse/keyboard to control it via the screen as not sure if any of the controls on the controller are mapped to control it out of the box.
Digital DJ Tips ok thanks. I heard the pitch n time feature is really good, although it kinda sucks there’s not knobs on the controller for the pitch
Serato discount isnt a bad choice!!
does it work well with traktor pro 2?
It should as long as you have a decent TSI file/mapping (check on Traktor Bible or DJ TechTools for this)
My MC 6000mk2 works fine with Traktor pro so as i'm looking for a second controller for quick ad hock sets and prep for my radio show.. i've got the Hercules Jogvision but been looking at this .. prob is it won't fit in my denon bag as its 20 inches wide lol..
is this a good model for beginners
Absolutely! :-)
Have they done a firmware update and do the vu metres work normally now
Just bought mine two days ago and did a firmware upgrade. No problem with VU meters now. Each shown individual channel gains when the cue button is pressed.
Can i record my music sets with this controller
Sure!
hello how do i put the sync off
Press the sync button, or inside the software :)
Who is the best dennonmc4000 vs ddj 400 ??
Perhaps we could do a video on that :)
how do I midi map the denon mc-4000 in traktor pro 2 ?
I would look for mappings on Traktor Bible or DJ TechTools first, otherwise you might have to map it yourself
Can it use 4 decks on Serato?
+MrJFunk Sanchez The MC4000 can't, you might look into the MC6000 Mk2. Here's our full review: www.digitaldjtips.com/2014/05/review-video-denon-dj-mc6000-mk2/
This or a Platinum FX?
Personally I'd get the Platinum FX as you can get it brand new with a warranty
@@digitaldjtips Well I'm also leaning towards that, and because of the screens, but this looks is a more pro gear. Can I expect failures in these controllers in that short 1 year warranty I get?
Unlikely but it's nice to have that security (that you don't get buying second hand)
i need help setting up the microphone to serato dj can someone please help me??
What mic are you using and what problem are you having? :)
@@digitaldjtips i got a kit online its a stagg microphone and when i plug my microphone into my controller i make sure to turn up the mic knob and i can see the peak blinker going so i know it works but i cant hear my self talking on serato dj or virtual dj, plz help im dieing to find out
Is it not coming out of the speakers when you speak?
@@digitaldjtips nope
It won't record your mic, but you should hear it through your speakers. No idea why you can't.
The Microphon is the good Idee ! I just for the Denon not Pioneer.
its a good controller but the only thing I don't like about it is it doesn't controll the sp6 sample player denon should of step up their game for that
yes it does
But it doesn't alow you to go through your sample banks in serato unless you do it yourself on the laptop
what is that song?
Milky Chance "Stolen Dance" :)
