Hello my friend . I am like you ,in love with OmmoKalsum.
I am over 80 years old ,and do not speak or understand Arabic ,but I have been following and listening to her music since I was 18 . Also I have been researching her life
Her voice is over 500 octavos strong ,the strongest voice for example in the world rarely gets close to 500 . Because of that she keeps the mike at least one foot away from her ,you may notice if you try ,the mike is hanging away from her ,she never held the mike while singing.
Briefly : Her father was a religious man and used to go to different gathering to pray and sing religious song ,she used to take her along , but she used to dress like a boy and accompany her father in singing ,her voice was so good that the father let her perform the religious song alone but still people would think she was a boy , she would dress like a boy ,She kept this procedure until she got older and then she started singing as herself i.e. a woman. To make the story short, she became so famous and got associated with the top and the best musician and poets of Egypt .Most of the songs the lyrics are made only for her songs by the top poets .
She also associated with Mohammad Abduwahaub the top singer .She always held a scarf in her left hand while singing . I can write a book about her Good Luck. CIRO

Egyptian master music since ancient times , Egypt is so unique about the using of the musical instruments in music also having its own unique tempo and music , that’s why I can find a lot of our songs taken by Turkish singers , cuz the closest to Egyptian style is Turkish and Greek music not Arabic of you really into music you can spot this easily if you can know what are the Arabic music , the gulf are has different music , North Africa is also different, levant also different ( Palestine, jordon,Lebanon,Syria) so Egyptian music is alone in the Middle East and unique they added alot to the music which made it so attractive to the ear , plus they know how to mix Egyptian heritage into Mediterranean vibe too , hope you got my point

Fun fact: In that concert in Paris Umm Kulthum made at that time the highest salary in the world, she received twice as much as Maria Callas and four times as much as Sammy Davis jr at the same venue. The french media kept praising her for a week after the concert writing article after article of how they have never seen anything like it. As for the microphone it hangs upside down standing 2 meters away from her. Her voice was to powerful for the mic to stand close.

The song of Um koltum may remain for 40 minutes, and the thing which I can't imagine, how can she stand on the stage for nearly one hour without any rest to sing only one song, and people stay active with her. She is magnificent

I miss those good old days 😢

Listening to her songs has certain rituals, you should listen to them late at night in an open space and with the device a bit far from you. That sensation you get is what Arabic night is.

Om Kolthom's concerts that days only contains 3 songs...each song lasts for "at least" 2 hours... because after each part people keep clapping their hands till she repeats that part at lest for 3 times and they refuse that she goes to the next part of the song without repeating more and more

Um Kulthum had a contralto vocal range.she can sing as low as the 2nd octave, and has the ability to sing as high as 8th octave at her vocal peak. Her remarkable ability to produce 14,000 vibrations/second with her vocal cords, unparalleled vocal strength (no commercial mic for singing can withstand its strength forcing her to stand at 1-2meter radius away, her voice's unique breathtaking beauty over convention made her the most incomparable voice of all times .
