    Ignea is a great band with more potential! They're from Ukraine and doing everything themselves. Seen them twice and I am actually wearing their shirt as I watch you guys 😁😎
    #Insomnium : The River - lyrical video, or Lay of the Autumn - lyrical video (or both ☝️). Because you need good Melo-death 👍

    Love it when metal bands use a symphonic orchestra in the background. ✌

    Alexandria is another great song by them. And there's a great Q&A on their channel. The lead singer, Helle, has a fantastically dry sense of humour. They will hopefully be as big as Jinjer are getting. They're both putting Ukraine on the rock map.

    I just realized how many Slavic metal bands use keys in their setup, way more then American bands. Personally I prefer Şeytanu Akbar over Alga but it lacks the orchestra.
    #IGNEA Şeytanu Akbar, Amsterdam.
    As for the more eastern/international vibe. You gotta realized Ukraine is right between Europe and Asia. The name even means 'borderland'. It's history is mostly a string of foreign powers occupying their fertile lands. I'm happy to see you explore more international metal bands, the more exotic influences.

    • @EyesOfGehenna
      @EyesOfGehenna Před 4 lety +2

      There isn't anything between Europe and Asia as they are connected. The Ukraine is part of Europe but definitely the eastern part of Europe. People sometimes forget that Europe isn't the same as the EU.

    Hey KnR!
    Another band for folk metal: An Indian band called Bloodywood.
    I mention this because their song Vee Jeerey is about not giving up and committing suicide -- basically, because too many people have issues with mental health.
    And with Vee Jeerey, Bloodywood paid for, out of pocket, for 60 appointments to help people -- which was bloody awesome, IMHO!
    Give them a listen, I think they'll surprise you!

    Strange that nobody said something about the lyrics! This song was written by Ignea after Russia invaded Crimea which is an Ukranian peninsula in 2014. The 2-headed monster refers to (the coat of arms of) Russia.

    Glad that you are doing so well, Kel, after your horrible ordeal! And, thanks for the great review! This is one of my favorite songs, a perfect blending of symphonic and metal IMHO, with excellent content which I understand is a protest about the Russian annexation of Crimea (correct me if I am wrong here). She has a beautiful voice! I love the classic, simple metal guitar riffs throughout. I also love it when she sings, "Put your two-headed eagle in your a*se and run!", descending into a growl on the word "run." Brilliant! The only thing which disrupts this otherwise perfect song is the insertion of that weird, stray keyboard note at time index 6:30 in your video (time index 4:26 in the original video).

    Thank you both & Wayne for this reaction to one of my favorite oriental metal bands from Ukraine. I like them much more than Jinjer (also from Ukraine), although their lead vocalist Helle Bogdanova has a similar style of mixing harsh and clean vocals, but not in this song that was the first time a metal band from Ukraine used a philharmonic orchestra in their song. If you liked this & Jinjer, you could also react to e.g. "IGNEA - Şeytanu Akbar (Official Music Video | BUMA 2017), which is a song against Islamic terrorists. This is one verse of that song: "My children vanished below the sign of faith. Your mark of Allah is carved upon their graves. You hide in peace but disappear in grief. I’m bringing death to you, I shout Şeytanu Akbar!".
