Ultraman Rising is what happens when you license your IP to someone who actually love your IP.
and not trying to falsely claiming it as your's while completely when legally it isn't and ruining the ip/characters legacy. i'm looking at you Chaiyo and Blue Sphere studios.
Funny enough, it was actually a retrofit over a legally distinct parody of Ultraman called "made in Japan", but because it was basically already a tribute to Ultraman, it ended up working really well.
Same with Monsterverse and their Godzilla movies
@@godzillatheultimatekingand7731 Well I just hope to wonder this isn't about another common thing that people would say "western hollywood ruined it", cuz I find it dumb irony reason.
@@azagorod8479 no it isn't I thnk the movies are great
the nod to Sentai with him owning a toy from Abaranger
Abaren OH
ABA ABA ABA ABARANGER!
@@KamenRide-Dogi no it's ABARE ABARE ABARE BAKURYU SENTAI
@@mfirdanhb 😂 hahaha
I'm singing the ending of Abaranger lol 👍
@@mfirdanhb Abaranger!
One small easter egg that I don't see mentioned often is Professor Sato's medical pod; if you look at it from afar, it looks very similar to the original Beta Capsule, even with a big red button in the middle.
My favorite part of the Ultras from Rising is that Professor Sato's Ultra form corresponds with his current age with the mustache, , awesome design choice
The cartoon that Emi watches is a real show for young children called "Kaiju Step Wandabada"!
And it uses classic kaiju from the original show
I appreciate how much the movie is able to appeal to an older audience without having to go dark & gritty
Damn, this movie was such a blast, i literally can't help myself sit quietly with all of the refrence it shows.
I think UltraDads glasses are a reference to Seven‘s Ultra-Eye.
Exactly what I was thinking, so much so that I thought he would've transformed into seven at the end
There's tons of little nods with the signs.
- Opening: Agam with Belial logo, STORAGE, Tsuburaya bank
- During the Neronga fight: Starseven coffee, Beta Smasher, Zetium
- During Emi's "rampage": Peguila deli
It was great lol
There was also an ad that had Alien Kemur displayed on it, I think in the baseball stadium
And also going back to Ken's dad, his glasses are framed red (with yellow tinted lenses, at least in certain shots it looks yellow), so another reference to Ultraseven, that being Ultraseven's Ultra Eye henshin device
So add that to the big pile of "Ken's dad was probably meant to be Ultraseven but was changed during production"
Just a theory I have
when ken makes the motorcycle jump there’s a sign in the distance with tsuburaya on it, then when he lands and transforms there’s another sign next to ken with tsuburaya’s last name in kanji with a little graphic of his hair and glasses, seeing these back to back was a treat
I can’t believe how much I enjoyed this film. The second half and finale might be some of my favorite Ultra moments.
It would have been amazing if the dad is Ultraman Zoffy
Honestly it feels like they were hinting him to be Seven, he's got the Ultra Eye glasses, the car and the plate, the dynamic
It's just so obvious
@@himitsu_tokusketchAlso, Ken’s baseball number is seven. He clearly the Zero of Rising.
@@Vegadra oh neat I completely forgot that
Ultraseven: Rising
They already did that in the anime
I'm not shitting ,the moment you said '' from the guys behind Kubo and the two strings'' I know that was some good ass shit, and you're damn right, what a incredible movie man, legit cried and screamed from hyped, what a great love letter to the people who grown up watching those shows.
My personal favorite eater egg was one of the signs in the battle against Neronga saying "Zestium," in reference to Ultraman Z
There's tons of little nods with the signs.
- Opening: Game with Belial logo, STORAGE, Tsuburaya bank
- During the Neronga fight: Starseven coffee, Beta Smasher, Zetium
- During Emi's "rampage": Peguila deli
It was great lol
The best reference has to be the ultraman transformation in the climax of the film. The original creator of ultraman was probably crying in nostalgic happiness.
I love it when films make tons of nods and easter eggs like this. Looks like a fun watch and I'll definitely check it out eventually
The Varan roar is like the Wilhelm Scream of the Ultraman series. You just gotta have it in there somewhere
You (or any other toku youtuber) definitely need to make a video on all the animated works based on tokusatsu, from animated series set in the franchises universe, to even parodies
Yo, when I saw that abaranger toy in the background I thought it was cool they referenced sentai…. Then I realized who’s playing the captain in Ultraman Arc and everything made sense😁
I know that this isn’t Tokusatsu related but:
My favorite reference is during Emi being injured in the base, professor Sato gave her a bunny plushie to her to calm her down, which is previously owned by Kenji. That same bunny is from Shannon Tindle’s other works, Lost Ollie!
Ultraman Rising is a great movie, even though I didn’t grow up watching the older tv series. I also like an Easter egg that reference Power Ranger DinoThunder Magazord in the in base background.
I was hoping you'd make a video of this movie. I liked it a lot.
This movie made me remembered those simpler time, where i woke up and can genuinely say that i can't wait to expect what will happen today.
Potential reference i noticed was the fact that Ken is #7 on his team, and the 2nd Ultraman.
A nod to Ultraman Dyna, both protagonist love to play baseball.
If you haven't realized right about now but there is actually a scene where the baby Kaiju kind of sound a little bit like the Dilophosaurus from Jurassic Park if you look back at it
They really need to start normalizing blue eyes in ultras. It just looks so cool.
Also, the reason "transformation devices" exist in the first place, is because of well… toys, which I think we all know at this point. But it definitely would be cool if we straight-up got an Ultraman show where the protagonist transforms without a marketable toy, but even with Blazar in the equation, I doubt that’s ever going to be a thing.
This film deserved cinema release. Cause it was really good.
One of the toys Ken has is the giant robot from abaranger/megazord from Power Rangers Dino Thunder
That I saw it too
Fun fact: In the music video for the song by Diplo and Oliver tree, they did a refrence to My hero academia when Ultraman stood as the same position as All might and the text of the lyrics where in the same format as the shows title.
Also when Ken comes back from the game and the baby shows the dance she does the same dance as Godzilla
Great. Now we need kamen rider rising. It could be an anthology mini series recaping the riders like theres a gaim episode, a stronger episode, a ZO episode and so on
Something I caught the second time watching was during the intro, when Bemular appears on the screen, Ken says, "That's not a hero..." I think this is a sly reference to the fact that, early in the series production, the hero of the second Ultra series was going to be a Kaiju called Bemular.
There was a scene where emi made some Mothra sounds
If only Toho is as cool as Tsuburaya with the references, this movie could work with any big hero.
But the fact that it IS ULTRAMAN after the darker approach that is Shin Ultraman, is endearing.
Feel like Showa era Tokusatsu's getting their time to shine overseas with Minus one for Godzilla and various Ultraman projects.
The Dinothunder Megazord on his shelf was a nostalgia-trip for me. Those guys were my childhood
Here are a couple of nods I found:
-If you listen to the music at the beginning where Ultraman is introduced, you can hear a couple of notes from Ultraman The Next.
-At one point Ken jokes that he is "Ultraman The Ultimate Babysitter", a reference to Ultraman: The Ultimate Hero.
Especially Kenji Sato being a baseball player is a homage to Ultraman Dyna and the baby kaiju gave me Cosmo vibes
Just finally got around to watching rising and man I had a fun time
I don't know if this counts as a reference but the red Nissan R32 GTR since the car is also known as Godzilla
considering how they have to individually pick out car models that is 100% a reference
The issue with this is that it’s based on references and doesn’t actually question the film’s effort to keep true to aspects of Ultraman that are the norm.
That's not what the video is about. And besides, there have been tons of different versions of Ultraman. If you don't think it sticks close enough, try the next version.
i'm glad others have recognized how similar some moments in rising were to leo!!! the only ultraman i had seen before watching ultraman rising was the first 3 episodes of ultraman leo and somehow they set me up really well for the events of rising
The one reference that caught me off guard was seeing the mega zord from power rangers dinothunder
5:21 Ah I didn't know that, I'm glad I do now though because I now know the origin of the Godzilla dance.
I expected an easy and go kids film but ended enjoying the story it was telling!
I like the Dino Thunder/Abaranger toy in the background
That scene with the CZcams kids ultraman series made a quick cameo made me die of laughter lol
Oh so the creators of Kubo made this film!? Well that explains the excellent quality 😁.
I hope more people get into the ultra series (as a whole, not just the original ultraman) thanks to this movie
The movie was really good the reference to invasion of Astro monsters with the dance was amazing
I think “ultradad” having a mustache while in the final battle might be a reference to Scatman John, since Ultraman had a version of his song “Scatman” called “ScatUltraman”
I think you might have missed one:
In the final beam struggle , Ultraman's hand is hurt so when he tries to fire the beam , he and Ultradad use one hand each.
I think it maybe a reference to the Father-Son kamehameha in DBZ
Here’s an extra Easter egg: Ken’s father holds a plush in front of baby Emi and that plush is actually Ollie from Lost Ollie, another show on Netflix.
As a kid who grew up with OG Ultraman, I LOVED this movie.
This is one I've yet to see people comment about, but in the first baseball game you can see one of the sponsors is "Kemur", with a logo and name corresponding to the Ultra Q alien.
An amizing movie
Fun Fact: In the series Ben 10: Alien Force and Ben 10: Ultimate Alien (I think that's the title,) the alien "Way Big's" design and abilities was inspired by Ultraman.
A small easter egg that is not related to the ultraman series is that ollie from lost ollie appears a few times.
I had no idea this movie was in the works, or released!
Best Ultraman movie. Very heartwarming and nostalgic.
Just watched holy crap it’s amazing.
Great movie job 👏😃❤
The paint swirl backgrounds were awesome
Now I understand why the Ancient Aliens of Atlantis come from the M78 Nebula in Nadia: Secret of Blue Water! Hideaki Anno was making an Ultraman reference!
I realise that in this movie the people can hear what Ultraman is saying despite in the live action shows when a ultraman talks its either grunting or just straight silent
Many people point out the Abaren-Oh reference, but from what I've seen, it's more similar to the Jumbo Thundersaurus Megazord
Damn, I've gotta watch this
One reference you missed is that when kenji father takes out a plush for emi the plush was Ollie from lost Ollie which is a Netflix series
Ultraman Rising was a great movie and I am a fan of Ultraman besides Godzilla, Gamera, and Super Sentai/ Power Rangers back in the day! The Toku Professor has knowledge of different Kaijus & Kaijins who appear in different shows and movies like Godzilla films, Gamera films, Super Sentai, and Kamen Rider! I find it all very interesting and funny too because his two students, Kashima-Kun and Pencil Leopard get into some shenanigans while in The Professor's class!
Now I wanna see Ken call Nick Tatopoulos to ask for advice on raising kaiju
This one is a small one, but in one of the holo projections of Ken's baseball game, there's a short cut of his shoes and it's branded with the defence force logo that worked with Ultraseven.
Additional fact: there are four-know father and son ultramans. the 1st is ultra father and ultra taro, 2nd is ultra 7 and ultra zero, 3rd is ultra taro and ultra taiga, the last is belial and ultra geed
The Dino-Thunder Megazord/Abarenoh is also part of Ken's toy collection.
Ken's face and hair style is very similar to Yonezu Kenshi, who did the theme song for Shin Ultraman.
Their names also has Ken too
Quick mention at 1:56 where Ultraman Next(movie) also doesnt need anything to transform into an ultraman
Loved this movie
Shoutouts to Rising for making the MCU-like moments, for lack of a better term, confined to the beginning as a way to show how incompetent and egotistical the main character is.
Big companies need to let people who ACTUALLY car abt a franchise run it
Instead of people who check the right boxes
Where Ultraman is puncing the giant robot, brios omni man and Emi was dancing like godzilla
The reference to EMI dancing like Godzilla comes from Iyami’s Amazing AF Sheeh skit via one of the Godzilla movies.
@@SlapstickGenius23 Nice
We need a sequel!
Father of Ultra's name is Ultraman Ken, and the protagonist of the series ' main focus (and the theme of the movie) is being a father
I KNEW IT WAS MOTHRA SOUNDS
HELL YEAH
May I ask if there's a list of all the ads that use kaiju as mascots in the film? They're the ones that really stood out to me.
Ultraseven's transformation is also homaged in the rise sequence as the light blue use is the same one from Ultraseven's. The blue use in Ace's is a darker blue
動画では触れられてないけど、Risingの青い目はアメリカで制作されたウルトラマンパワード(1995)が元ネタだと思う
It's not mentioned in the video, but I think Rising's blue eyes are based on "Ultraman: The Ultimate Hero ( = Ultraman Powered) " (1995) , which was produced in America.
Twin tail bemular and red king are also momentarily noted to be deceased
Ultra man was a part of my childhood and im still 15
Ultraman The Next also transforms through sheer will
Emi does the Godzilla moon dance
The Zeperion signboard and the Daiso shop
the Power Ranger Dino Thunder toys on Kenji's shelf (He has two). I can't remember what the Sentai was called XD
I'm not sure if its a direct reference to DBZ but near the end of the fight really reminds me of Father-Son Kamehameha.
Professor Satos glasses look like UltraSevens!
I like the new ultraman rising movie because kenji doesn’t need a device like other ultraman actors.
I can feel that they loved making this, they planned a sequel at the end of the movie as well.
Still can't my head around the origins the Ultraman in this movie though, is he still an Alien? Is Professor Sato an Alien from nebula M78???
I'd say the design of Ultraman Rising really similar to Ultraman Powered, my opinion obviously.
There are a whole mess of nods in the ads and billboards in the city scenes. I'm pretty sure I saw Kaiju Booska, a character from a different Tsubaraya show (who also guest-starred on Ultraman R/B) on one of the signs.
I've mainly noticed alot of references to Ultraseven
