Tiga, Dyna & Gaia are peak trilogy within Ultraman franchise.
I’d argue that it was Mebius but it’s tough cause heisei was such a strong line up of shows.
@@christopherhu7189 I mean the trilogy was the first series after a long hiatus after ultraman 80, and well tiga's series in particular saved the company from bankruptcy, his type changing powers were a literal formula changer, his show won a award which since then ultraman z won an award that also did beating the demon slayer movie in 2021, and he shows up more than any other ultra both in toy's and actual show appearances (even more than ultraman zero the poster boy for the ending of the heisei era of ultraman)
When it comes to heisei Ultraman shows...Ultraman Tiga is extremely high on the list of phenomenal Ultra shows that work so well. Plus Tiga has a uniquely cool design.
@@ZephyrBW its highly respected. Ultraman fans love this show so much.
@@godzilla0083 Really I saw the dub it good too bad it didn't finish but i never the saw the sub.
Tiga is basically my childhood when it comes to ultraman. . they kept it simple with the hero with limited power ups but focus a lot on story and characters development. . .the series is no doubt one of the best ultra series out there. .
Tiga basically redefine ultra series after long hiatus. That's why he the GOAT.
It says a lot on how much there is to talk about with Tiga when covering only one director's episodes takes up 45 minutes
not to mention the large worldbuilding it did. Cant imagine the ancient times in the series where there are demon cult worshippers, lizard people, ultraman hosts and kaijus living in the same earth its so wild. The new gen series and Ultraman Dyna really missed opportunitiy to just continue this story but flesh out more on what happened during the ancient times
@@zukhilmie7867i really dissapointed with new gen because i expected they will explore those things you already mentioned to start a new universe 🤦♂️
@@zukhilmie7867 Even in Tiga there is more interest in fleshing out the human society for the future rather than going too much into exploring the ancient past.
@@zukhilmie7867 Dyna focused on comedy part though. But when they focus on space part, that's when Dyna peaked.
Tiga was truly "Larger than life" indeed! (My first Ultraman show that i watched on FoxBox)
That's how I got introduced to Tiga as well. Imo people are too mean to that dub.
@@bluebaron6858 I loved the dub and didn't hate it, shame on those haters who did
Here in the Philippines, Ultraman Tiga is the most popular Ultra here, to the point that if you actually tell them what Ultraman is, they won't refer to the original 1966 Ultraman but rather, they'll refer to Tiga and his appearance. While the original 1966 series had aired here in the past, Ultraman Tiga aired several times through TV replays throughout the late 90's up until the 2000's, solidifying what the Ultra series are to them. Ultraman Dyna and Gaia were also the more popular Ultras here second to Tiga.
Fun fact: When Ultraman Mebius aired here in 2014, almost every Filipino didn't even know who he was or who were the past Ultra brothers. (Ultraman and Ace were slightly more recognizable because they aired here in the 80's, Jack, Taro and 80 did not even air here while Leo allegedly aired here sometimes around the late 70's but this is unconfirmed. If so, then the broadcast would be considered lost media.)
I have a feeling that Jack got aired here in the Philippines. I don't know, it feels nostalgic and it seems that I remember most of its episodes for some reason. And while Tiga is still popular, it's still the original Ultraman '66 that is being referred to as the known Ultraman in the Philippines.
basically asean too. Ask any Malaysian that grow up during late 90s and early 2000s. Tiga, Dyna and Gaia are all they know
Thx to the Malay name his popularity isn't so surprising because almost all of us know tiga=three and the sole fact he's the first triple changer makes his hype a lot greater
Tiga was such a breath of fresh air after the stagnation (and infantilization) of the Showa Ultra Series; damn shame actually getting it the way it was meant to be seen is so difficult now (thanks as usual for the lousy job, Mill Creek).
I was just rewatching your previous Ultraman 80 video and wondering, "i wonder when that Tiga video comes out"
Watching this made me realize just how many episodes of Tiga still stuck with me since I watched it
I'm not gonna lie but the 4Kids Tiga theme is an absolute banger. Tiga is probably One of the best Ultra series. It's a good mix of adventure and horror
definitely, I love gaia's opening and ending, and agul's theme too. So damn good@paoloemildeoca
I guess you could say that the theme helped make the show larger than life.
So interesting that you can make such a detailed video on just one little known director. One guy massively influenced the direction of the heisei ultra series within the short 8 or so months he worked on one show 30 years ago and that's pretty much his legacy. And it's a big impact
Tiga has a lot of thoughts and ideas put into it! Wish more people can go more into details about it
I’m an American kid who grew up in the suburbs of Chicago. Ultraman Tiga is, and always will be, my favorite superhero. I have a tattoo of his chest crest now. The best ultra series there is, period.
Amazing breakdown of one of the directors of Tiga. its undeniable that his episodes help with the structure of Tiga.
I feel cheated since I only got to see some of the episodes of Tiga on Fox Kids back in the day with that goofball English dub lol. Still I enjoyed it at the time but I'll definitely look into watching these wonderful episodes. Great to see more work from you man, your commentary is truly one of the best in the kaiju community
Ultraman Tiga is a great series. It's one of my all-time favorites, and I hope it gets a redub some day soon. Also, Disney is more of a monopoly with Marvel than Toho with Godzilla.
I loved Tiga as a kid and i still love this series until now. The worldbuilding it did was massive and u definitely feel the scale when depicting Guts and TPC as this science department/ kaiju solvers. Not to mention the variety of alien races that seemed to coexist together during the ancient times, like there could be 100 Gatanothors and a whole race of Ultramans fighting against each other back then and all would be so cool to see but maybe in the future someone would finally do these stories
Watching your Video made me Realized How much Running Gags this Series has!
Very memorable childhood Tokusatsu show
The usage of Take Me Higher during One Vanishing Moment has stuck with me after all these years. I'm really happy you mentioned it since it is such an iconic moment from the show.
The amount of thought that you put into these documentaries is truly commendable. Keep up the great work!
Thank you for all your great work. I haven’t finish the video yet, obviously, but I wanted to show appreciation because I know this will be a banger.
Incredible video! It was really cool learning more about the behind the scenes of Tiga and why it is still so highly respected to this day. Also glad to see Kawasaki getting more recognition for the incredible work he did the ultra series as well as the legacy he left. Would love to see more videos about underappreciated ultra series directors or even a more in depth video about Ai Ota and her contributions to the series.
Finally!!! Waited so long for this.
That's what Tigas do best!
Let's go
Was waiting for this video
IMO It's timeless enough so that OG fans can still like it while the newer generation can still like it still feels modern enough to seperate it from the much older Ultraman series.
Edit : First time someone pinned me. Hi mom?
this is My Favorite Ultraman Series! the First after Ultraman Mebius!
Oh, I somehow missed this upload! No clue how, since it was one of my most anticipated; and yet, here I am, struggling to stay awake... Just one more video for the day.
obiko's death reminds me a lot of the mermaid in nier replicant, wonder if nier replicant had some inspiration from it
Really sorry for out of context but..... R.I.P Akira Toriyama
Idk why but Tiga's design is so cool. The blue/purple variant was good looking.
Thanks for all your hardwork!
Those episodes are some of my favourite of all time, without question.
Its here! So happy to see you release this video about my favorite hero! Though I have so many question about the initial video. Tiga is this what u doing after go to Mars to retire!?
Keep doing what you do brotha. Would love to see some new content!
Thank you for this
no doubt this will be another great vid! but where's the shin kamen rider video? T_T hehehe
Thank you. As someone who might be tipping their hat to a bit more experience and years, I must admit I caught the English dub on the tube back when it first made waves stateside. This Ultraman Tiga series sounds like it's got some intriguing elements to it.
DAD'S BACK, AND WITH A BANGER OF A VIDEO, YIPPPIEEEEE (Plus Tiga is my my second favorite Ultra so this is a double Yippiee moment, Based)
i don't know if you already have but i think you should TOTALLY cover Kamen Rider Kuuga. i'd would love to see your opinions on the show.
Wonder if I wrote it before, but Episode 28's finale was supposed to be more leaning to an Anti-War notion, instead of an ambiguous stance. I think they changed it so that it wouldn't be as controversial, but think that being in the middle still held some controversy in itself.
Gotta Tiga Take Me Higher
You deserve more views!
Fun Fact: why ultraman TIGA was popular cuz ultraman tiga is the first ultraman with concept change form and the host tiga was a singer and
Daigo who love with the girl that will married daigo in ultraman dyna when in ultraman dyna movie
Lore: There was a giant called giant of light and giant of darkness
Giant of light: giant of light supposed to protect earth from a alien or monster
Giant of darkness: not all giant is nice four 4 of them was called giant of darkness
The great war: giant of darkness was make giant of light split to 2 side
The giant of light fight with they own friend cuz giant of darkness somehow make them to a conflict
But there a human called yuzare who make ultraman tiga be a good ultra warrior and after tiga knew this was wrong
He defeat 3 of his friend first he fight dagon when fight dagon ultraman tiga gain a new form called power type
And he fight hyudram and give him a new power called tornado
And tiga was gain new form multi type from camila who defeat too by tiga after the great war the giant of light was still lived from that war go home or i can say the giant of light is gonna reincarnet to a human just like ultraman tiga tiga was reincarnet to a human called daigo [end]
That was the lore thx for reading this i hope u enjoy reading
Thank you, this was great!
I hope you do "the man behind Ultraman Gaia"
Ultraman Tiga is the first Ultraman who can change form and my all time favorite
Gameplay:Haha purple man pew pew
Lore:........tiga
I can already hear that faint and evil word no two words the words of the evil who wants nothing but forced happiness in painful times the word is that horrible that your soul will be shaking and it will leave as soon as it hears it the word is
Smile smile........aghhhhhhhh
im a 90s kid and ultraman tiga is my first ultraman ive watched and i love it. the last episodes are heartbreaking to me back then thats why Ultraman Tiga left a mark for me. Then when ultraman Dyna came out after Tiga series, im surprised Daigo and Reina was featured there
Of the 3 Heisei Ultras, Tiga is and will always be my top pick. He too has two other modes as well, I think it was my first time seeing an Ultraman do that.
0:07 is crazy
The goat ultraman
Do you have patreon or crowd funding platform ? I was blown away by the in-depth analysis and research that you put into video and it'd be a shame if I don't get you at least a coffee for your effort. Thank you for this video and please do more on Ultraman Tiga!
thanks for the video
Hey common section, I was introduced to Ultraman in preschool or kindergarten. When my best friend was this Japanese kid at the school. I went to and he was only in the states for not that long before hand and his dad was like some ex baseball player for those soccer Tigers and his mom was like a famous pianist, my post is what was the Ultraman show that was on TV in? I guess maybe the late 80s most likely? I’m trying to figure out which series was the one that made me fall in love with the series and led to my love for Kaiju films.
Any plan on covering Ultraman Gaia and Ultraman Cosmos? In my opinion, those two also redefine and added the rich history of the ultra series. For example the addition of Dante and Vergil-esque rivalry between two Ultraman and an ultraman that focuses on saving monsters rather than killing them.
While the ultra after tiga, dyna, is probably my fav in all of the franchise. There is no denying tiga's impact in resurrecting the ultra franchise in heisei era, if not for tiga we might never get ultra series ever again.
Its still kinda funny to me how tiga and kuuga the 2 shows that ressurects their respective franchise are both based on ancient civilization theme, has color changing powers, and stars main actor that was picked to be eye candy for the moms 😂
omg! my childhood! I even got the uniqlo shirt at my old age...
Absolutely kino Ultraman 😢😢 nostalgia
Would absolutely love a Gaia retrospective. It's stuck with me a LOT
Where did that dance clip at the beginning come from? I gotta watch the concert.
I'd love to hear you talk about Gridman
not only GOAT, but the Earth Defense Force in that series (GUTS) has the advance and biggest tech in any Ultra series (they even have Moon and Mars colony) sad we can't have anything like that in nowadays ultraman series
Out of all ultramans, tiga was my favorite, there was none like it and it was the perfect balance of old ultramans and newer ultramans. Im still sad it died the way it did
do about dyna or TDG pleasee.. im such a huge fan of dyna ever since i was a kid
Finally
he is my first ultraman sereis i fully finished when i were kid.
Id love to see a video of Kamen Rider Kuuga and how it took Kamen Rider as a series in a new and more serIous direction
i loved the tokusatsu, I grew up with power rangers/super sentai, kamen rider/masked rider and ultraman dyna, gaia, tyga and also cosmos. I loved gaia and dyna the most plus I've never really stopped watching ultraman as i grew up. I'm thinking of trying out the older ones like taro's era
We were all turned to light that day.
Seems the director of evangelion likes Kawasaki too😂really enjoyed his episode 😊
Tiga was the biggest ultraman in china and still is its been 20 year or smth and tiga is still first place on the ranking list for fame
I'm from Ace era but I'll give Tiga some love
I remember Ultraman Ace series when the whole Ultraman family appear for the first time to help their little bro Ace 😂 I was so hyped af whenever Ace is gettint helped by them 😂
Tiga was what got me into Ultraman in the first place.
I like the video taking a deep dive talking about Ultraman Tiga, but maybe it's because I'm not a native English speaker, but the video format could have been better with you slowing down a bit with the narration. Without subtitles, it's kinda hard to keep up and I actually had to pause a lot of times to catch a breath. But other than that, keep up the good work.
I loved both ultraman taro and tiga, my favorite ultramans in my opinion
Damn so that's why those episodes were special, mans directed it himself
Bro tiga at first is dope bro
ultraman powered theme spotted goated creator
Tiga was my first introduction and his design looks cool because he didn't have that bulging bug eyed look.
ngl having an episode that is dark and shows the characters at their potential lowest point in the middle of the series is good timing to me. it makes the episodes after that have more hopeful ultra-ism storylines perk the overall storyline even more. it shows that even those bad moments are not the end for most of the characters' lives.
i have seen the title of this video change twice lol
Tiga comes a close 3rd on my ranking kf ultra shows after Nexus and Mebius❤
What did Tom Cruise do to Tiga
Would you consider adding Kanji names along with their English names for directors etc, when you first introduce them, in later videos? As someone who can read Kanji, I know their original names by heart but not sure how to pronounce them and doesn't ring a bell when their names were mentioned in English.
❤
Ultraman Tiga wasn't my first ultraman, my first ultraman was ultraman Cosmos & watch ultraman series until ultraman Gingga. Then watch all ultraman series from showa era until today. But I don't know why ultraman Tiga become my favourite ultraman so far. I love Taro, I love Zero, I love Nexus, but Tiga always pop up in my mind. Tiga just too amazing for me.
Ultraman tiga and kamen rider kuuga, both the first generation of their eras, both have multiple power forms, both have very dark history, both ending with the human host can't change into their ultraman and kamen rider form anymore (i know tiga got resurrected in dyna and gaia and trigger but i don't think it was daigo inside ultraman tiga), both human hosts names is just a switch (kuuga=godai, tiga=daigo), both are my favorites :3
Can you do a video for Dyna too?
Funny timing with this? We'd long heard Tiga was fully dubbed by 4Kids but a huge chunk of the series was never aired. Then this comes out around the same time, out of the blue, the Tiga finale in dubbed form drops onto the net.
Aside from my most favorite ultraman is both max and nexus
I grew up with Ultraman Tiga one of the best Ultraman with good op IMO.
We are not even gonna talk about how Tsurubaya managed to get a star from Johnny's and the OG Ultraman's daughter to headline the show?
