I'm an ER doc and I don't want anyone to be deceived by the happy go lucky music and tone of this. Concussions are serious and sometimes leave life long effects, mainly headaches and cognition problems, but sometimes vertigo and mobility issues. If you got one; rest and take it seriously.

Is it possible to have gotten a concussion and not known it? I was a passenger in a car accident when I was about 18 and was knocked unconscious for a minute or two… I didn’t go to the hospital, the EMTs didn’t seem concerned, tho I definitely had a killer headache. Yikes! I received the first of three concussions when I was 19 years old (I’m 62 now). I worked in a grocery store and a shoplifter tried to hit me. I jumped on her hood and she took off with me clinging to the edge by the windshield. She floored it and I just let go & hit the pavement. It happened very fast. I’ve had tinnitus ever since. I had two other concussions since that happened around the same time due to automobile accidents. Only reason that I bring it up is I have suffered the effect since it happened. Do what your doctors tell you to do to heal!

This is a sport in which no matter from what height the very best divers are able to sense cold air right above the water line and straighten themselves out enough to avoid said injury., where the braver you are from the start the better it ends up for you.

When you hit the water from either up high or down low when going fast, the water is just like concrete. I got a concussion water skiing from just skiing fast & jumping the wake. A boat had purposefully crossed in front of us just as I went over the wake. Their boat caused a wake that hit us perpendicular to our boat & as soon as I went over the wake, their wake hit & my skies went straight into it. I hit the water so hard I instantly felt sick & boy did my head hurt!! Glad you're feeling better!!😊❤

Hurting my head on the board during a backflip off of the high dive in high school, screwed with my psyche so bad that I eventually quit the team. My mind would never let my body feel unafraid of that dive again. I did it successfully many times over in practice but it was through sheer willpower and forcing myself to do it. One day I felt my hair brush the board when I hadn't gotten enough height in my rotation and it set me back to day 1 of trauma. Shaking and unable to steady myself, that was the end.

Did swim competitions so my only experience with “diving” is the two foot dive from the diving board into the water at the start of each race (except back stroke). Its wet most of the time, but usually keeps good grip for your feet. One time however, i must have kept my foot a little too far back and when i went for the dive, my back foot slipped. Since i didn’t push off correctly, i did end up slamming my foot on the rigid diving board. Hurt a whole lot but not enough to keep me from swimming. When i climbed out the water, you could see a cut/scrape on my foot.
“Scariest” swimming event was a common occurrence but in a bad place. Had a cramp on my leg while swimming in the deep side during practice. Pain kept me from moving my legs, but we had trained before to just use our arms before, so it wasn’t too big of an issue. Just swam to closest wall and pulled my self out.

I got a concussion in 2019 from being bucked off a horse. I had almost three years of Vertigo symptoms and still have mild cognitive symptoms.
The equestrian community was extremely unsupportive about me listening to my doctor and not riding again while I was still experiencing symptoms. People would tell me that I should just ride and concussions were no big deal. I never got back to riding because my symptoms lasted so long and I never want to go through that again.
I really hope you have a speedy recovery from your concussion and no serious side effects.
