  • Here we will show you how we change small tires, lawn mower tires, Garden tractor tires, ATV and UTV tires, Golf Cart Tires, Wagons and Cart Tires, Wheelbarrow tires, etc. We demonstrate on our heavily modded, basically remade "Harbor freight mini tire changer" from Pittsburgh that was used at the starting point. For everyday use we had to upgrade and modify this original HF unit. But for occasional use or not using often for heaver tires it should be fine as in original form.

    This should be youtubes first video suggestion for the mini tire changer from harbor freight! Very good tips and explanation. It seems like every time I use the mini tire changer, I'm learning all over again, especially with the smaller tires. They can be a pain!

      Thanks! Yes lots of videos out there on this BUT... LOL That's why we felt we should make one more. I feel your pain and also feel the same way sometimes. If you don't do them often then you tend to forget. Like most things I guess so thank goodness for videos there are probually less wrenches and tire irons flying across driveways and garages since You Tube... Or depending on the video you watch maybe more. You Tube is great equally for videos of showing you the "right" ways and well the wrong ways to do things lol. Thanks for the comments and support!

      Thanks for the comment, yes lots of working with my hands my whole life. Many sometimes say "we make it look easy". If we do, it comes from doing it wrong or making the mistakes at some point to learn from so we can hopefully show you ways where you don't have to make mistakes we already did lol. We still learn every day and still make mistakes at times (or forget things) lol. Thanks again for watching and your support!

    You really didn’t need that disclaimer at the end. This may not be “slick & glossy”, but you have shared years of experience and cut your viewers time spent in the school of hard knocks to a tenth of what it would be otherwise. And most people that work for a living have shops that aren’t pretty. Thank you.

The non-stop exhaustive explanation, explaining EVERY step, clarifying things that others have touched on but not really explained -- I'm thinking particularly on the necessity of getting the rim of the tyre down under that hump and into the recess. And the recap was a first. I've seen six vids on this, and this is the best. ..Hang on, this is your FIRST vido?? Superb. Most welcome!
      Well, I went out and had my first try. Bolted it down to a heavy pallet so I could get my whole weight over it. In fact I was able to break the seal just by jumping on the tyre. Put the wheel on the tool, got one rim off. Can't get the lower one off -- I think because the axle hole in the hub is 3". It's the front wheel of a small real tractor (Iseki TX1300). Took it off the tool, put it on the floor. It's all soaped up, plenty of spoons, big screwdrivers. Just wondering if anyone has advice on this type of hub. Thanks.

    • @caseingersolltractorsnortheast
      @caseingersolltractorsnortheast  Před 2 lety +1

      @@johncollins8304 not sure exactly you issue but some rims are bigger on one side or the other but if you got one read already off then that should not be the issue. But some rims tires ate meant to come off one side as the cut out is offset and the tire won't reach to drop in as to take lip over the edge.

    After using this tire changer today to install 4 new tires on my riding mower, a couple things stood out. The install bar needs a groove to catch over the rim or ball on the end of it too keep from popping out while you spin it to put bread on. Need a way to hold rim from turning as well as tire. I used tire levers that I use when changing motorcycle tires to do 50% of the work. I did use the vise grip to hold bead below rim while installing.

    • @caseingersolltractorsnortheast
      @caseingersolltractorsnortheast  Před rokem

      Hi thanks for watching and the comment. If you tighten the cylinder spacers and threaded metal lock down tight it should hold the rim. There definitely are some improvements that could be made as you see we did a bunch to ours. But I guess to keep the cost down they build it the way they do and leave it up to us to make better lol.

    I made a mount for this that its into my receiver hitch. It sticks out far enough that the tailgate will open and the main leg is adjustable up and down. I use mine a lot and I made another cup with a rubber gasket from an irrigation pipe that drops over the main 5/8" shaft so when I tighten the top nut it clamps the wheel from both sides with rubber. Wheels do not spin in it now. I also made me a T handled wrench that fits over the top nut so i can spin it down real quick and really tighten it. It works really good now.

    • @caseingersolltractorsnortheast
      @caseingersolltractorsnortheast  Před rokem

      Nice, we made a hitch mount for the large tire changer. And made this in so it slides over and mounts to the big tire changer. So we can do big and small tires basically on 1 machine in one place. But do sometimes use it in a vice lime here in the video. But most times it's on the bigger Harbor Freaight tire changer. Thank you for the comment and watching!

    I kinda got an idea to help when breaking the bead. Here goes. Why don't you add a leg to your lever , one that you can add or remove to give you more power. You would attach it to the end of the lever when needed. So the leg should have have a stirrup so you can put a foot in to increase strength to increase bead breaking abilities. This is just an idea I thought of while watching your video, I remind you I did not try this yet.

    • @caseingersolltractorsnortheast
      @caseingersolltractorsnortheast  Před rokem

      Good question, so the hubs on most equipment we use this on has grease fittings so they get greased because they are there by many. So thats where the bulk come from. Also grease is used for installation. Now the fitting is there so grease can fill the cavity and coat the axle, keeping it protected and to keep moisture and corrosion away. Also some people remove the inner seals of the bearings that way grease can right get into the bearings if the cavity is full of grease. Thanks for watching and the comment.
