@@dementednun1175 It's because Heartbeat was all about the 1960s, it could never move into the 1970s. They should've ended when it was going good, around series 10 or 11 after Greengrass had left. Someone suggested a good ending would've been set on New Years Eve 1969, yeah I agree would've been a nice ending.

    • @Embracing01

@@free..to..air.. I agree. The TV channels like ITV, ITVx, streaming sites like Netflix, Britbox are full of wokeness. This just shows that these companies are reading from the same song sheet so to speak are just following the same agenda. Heartbeat if it was still being made today would be ruined by it all.

Greengrass saved Blaketon's life by pulling him from a burning car at the risk of his own life; in the following episodes no mention of it and Blaketon continue to slag off Greengrass, the gentleman who saved his life 🤔😎

We to have just watched the last episode of heartbeat our all time favourite show, growing up in the 50s & 60s it brought back many fond memories of those times We visited Goathland aka Aidensfield North Yorkshire in October it was wonderful seeing the film locations.
They never should have axed this show if a new series came back tomorrow it would be just as popular if not more so.
Goodbye Heartbeat you will be missed but never forgotten..

Each time they have send the whole series Heartbeat again, I have watched every episode, and loved it! So human, so realistic, so perfect copying the 50`s and 60`s, and the characters never only bad or good, all have good sides and bad sides, doing their faults and mistakes. Very human and very lovely!!!! I miss them all , Greengrass, Bernie, Vernon, Peggy, David, Oscar, Ventress, Gina, the police Sergeants and bobbies. And Aidensfield! :-) Peggy was one of my favorites, with all of her mischief's, but with a warm heart still. I thought the series was getting better and better, I gess it was because we felt we "knew" them all so well now, and it is a GREAT loss not watching all my "friends" in "Aidensfield" any longer. The best series ever! Best regards Britt Paulsen, Ålesund, Norway

I just watched this on ITV3, I am astounded at ITV. They keep a program like Loose Women, but lose Heartbeat. At the height of its popularity, Heartbeat has 16 million viewers. I bet Loose Women didn't! I have grown up with Heartbeat, and I am 13 now. What they did makes me sad. The killed, in my opinion, the best tv series ever produced. In case anyone's wondering, the writers were already working on 2 (final) series, round the show up to 20. Oscar did survive, the spike just missing his heart, but his role would have been reduced slightly, similar to how Alf's role changed in series 13, he was still in the main cast and being Alf, just a bit more wary.

This will sound strange but I'm glad that ITV axed Heartbeat while the drama was still good. It's not uncommon for great shows to be kept on TV for ages until the quality slowly drops and eventually producers only cancel the programme because the ratings aren't high enough anymore. At least Heartbeat never turned crap.

I don't know if it makes any sense leaving a comment here, I mean if the producers would ever read it but I became a great fan of the show here in Finland, the series is still on but in its last week (in search of Rosie in Australia today). Very sad it will be over so here is the last ever episode? I am not going to watch it here on you tube but I will wait until it is on TV next week. Anyway I have to say, the British TV series are the best ever, eye for deatil, incredible good in casting, never boring, good stories, Humor and I love that it plays in the sixties. same for 'last of the summer wine' Emmerdale etc. Hollywood still has a lot to learn from the Brits! British humor is the best ever! I still hope that the write some new scripts and pick the show up where it left off. It is a worldwide success!

Yeah that would've made for a nice ending to Heartbeat having it end on New Years Eve 69. Heartbeat was all about the 1960s end of no other decade. But I do think the show should've come to an end around the time or not long after Greengrass left. They could've ended with like you say the eve of the 1970s, but instead they let it go on until it became dull and boring where the only people who thought it was great where old age pensioners lol.

Oh, don't let the ideals fool you, the British Bobby hasn't always been armed with just a truncheon and a whistle, even back then, whilst there was not a need for Regularly Armed Officers, you still had need of a man who was a decent shot enough to get his Firearms License or "Pink Card" as they were known as.
Yep, if you had knowledge an Armed Blag was going down on your patch, the Sergeant'd gather every man with a Pink Card, open up the gun cabinet and start issuing the .303 Enfields and .38 Webleys.

+Chris Siv The main character at the very beginning in Heartbeat was PC Nick Rowan who was played by Nick Berry who is both an actor and singer and has also played Simon Wicks in Eastenders. Nevertheless Berry in Heartbeat was not only the main character but also the voice behind the infamous opening TV theme song which was entitled ‘Heartbeat’. This song of course is a cover of the 1958 single by Buddy Holly of the same name.

I agree, Heartbeat was the best thing that's been on TV; had so many things going for it. However, HB wasn't always the super cosy Sunday night show it later became with those, I have to say, very silly unnecessary comedy characters David, Bernie, Vernon and that awful Peggy. You need to look back in Heartbeat history to notice lots of strange changes to characters and continuity, for instance, David wasn't originally the dopey comedy character side kicking with Green grass or Scripps, but was portrayed in a serious and quite realistic way who had problems coping with his ill mother due to his "disability". Most people forget he first appeared in the badger hunt ep during the Nick & Kate years, and speaking of his mum, why wasn't she ever seen or mentioned again after that one episode?. Also, I heard that during these later series, Bernie Scripps states that before he owned the garage/funeral service business (for 15 years), his father had owned it. Yet, if anyone knowledgable on the very early series during the Nick & Kate/Jo era were to look back, they'll remember that the garage was owned and run by a chap called Mostyn and was named Mostyn's garage from the very first episode - there was never any mention of a Scripps family having owned or partly owned the business. So what happened to Mostyn?. I think his final appearance may've been in the badger hunt ep but can't be certain.
It's like the Heartbeat of the Nick years was in a different universe from the later series lol. Someone stated that during the ep when Dawn Bellamy arrived there are shots of the garage saying Mostyn's then next it shows Scripps in other shots. I dont think that's likely. As far as I know the two people were completely unconnected or unrelated.

David's Mum died, can't remember whether it was natural or not as I keep recalling her being involved in a Hit and Run but keep second guessing myself as to whether that's true or not.
Also, Vernon and Peggy were actually alright; Vernon gave off an Arthur Daley style compared to Claude's Faganism, as Vernon didn't always splutter and stammer when trying to hoodwink someone where as Claude was like a bag of psyched ferrets. Peggy was more a combination of the two; smooth talker but sloppy dresser
Mostyn could probably be passed off as a fluke as you do get those. You have to remember, prior to ITV taking HB, Yorkshire TV owned it so the ship would undoubtedly trade Crew so to speak. Like me, just pass it off that Bernie's old man worked with Mostyn as a Partner who, in truth, was more of the Business's Owner than Mostyn himself due to Moisten never being around all that often

ITV3 cut that bit out when it was shown yesterday. I wonder why they cut it out for considering it on for about 5 seconds. Alot of scenes are cut from the repeated TV broadcasts in the UK of Heartbeat, the excuse being due to time schedule of other programmes. Even the ITVHub before it became ITVX cut them as well.
