DP: Ryley Brown
Production Designer: David Skinner
Costume: Lindy McMichael, Matt Goldman
Assistant Director: George Nessis

VFX - Autonomous, Andy Bate
Conceived by Brian Beletic & El-P
Executive Producers (Run the Jewels) - Amaechi Uzoigwe & Drew Santarsiero
Thanks to Jason DeMarco/Adult Swim.
Artist & Director's statement:
The video for LEGEND HAS IT plays with the theme of guilty until proven innocent. We live in a world where stronger the truth the greater the opposition. In this story EL-P and Killer Mike are in a police lineup and the cards are stacked heavily against them.
But why is that?
this video is a worst nightmare scenario. high on acid and caught in the system. pitted against icons of innocence in a police line up that doesn't feel real. no bunnies were hurt on the making of this video.

The best thing about this song is how each section is completely different and evolving throughout the entire thing. It starts with the heavy industrial sounds, switches to a fucking brass section, then hits a little dubstep style grime, THEN the Bari Sax and xylophones.
I've always taken pride in my ability to notice tiny variations in songs to be able to tell which verse or chorus is coming up next. Sometimes it's very VERY difficult, if all the choruses start as duplicates of the first, but there is usually something small added or removed.
With this song, even a legally deaf person would know the timestamp if you played a 2 second clip. It took a shitload of work to make each section distinct while maintaining the overall flow.
calm down buddy, it's just a song.

For those who don't understand the numbers at the bottom they are the years and amount of Americans in prison look at the jump since the 70s
Yeah, that awesome war on drugs has driven the prison industry. It's been so successful because nobody does drugs anymore.
makes me sick to think that people that need a hand get thrown in prison for double digit numbers because they cant get the means to get themselves right... its fucking tragic fuck the war on drugs for real
And that makes them tough or something? lol
what makes who tough? the fuck you talking about guy
Definitely worth noting, thanks for calling attention to that! For better or worse, I was already aware of the problematic US prison system/population (& that’s a very polite way to put it…), so I knew immediately what those exponentially rising numbers were; but knowledge is power, so again thanks for the heads up
So weird but so welcomed to see El-P blow up as big as he has with RTJ. 30 years since the start of Company Flow and he's still one of the best and most unique producers in Hip-Hop. Love to see it.

@@DjStiv3 hope this is a troll...
@@DjStiv3 That's not true at all. A TON of convictions are for drug dealing and using. From weed to cocaine. We treat it as a felony, almost like they killed someone. But drug use is a disease, not a decision. The things that lead to it are often systematic, not personal. Results show that less regulation, and more treatment is what's effective, where as imprisonment, isn't effective in the slightest. Also, wrongful imprisonment is more common than many believe. Good people do go to jail, and druggies don't deserve jail time. They're just drowning the sorrows with drugs, that the system are responsible for both drugs and sorrow.
This is just one case of laws being in place just to fill prisons only. Also, to let you know, prisons are privatized more often than not... They aren't a government institution, really. And thanks to that, they find plenty of ways to make money off their prisoners. Making prisons, quite profitable. Not to mention buying things while inside is extra expensive. So don't worry about your tax dollars. They're more used up bailing out banks and buying weapons.

Absolutely iconic song this is actual history I remember when this came out as a single
Here because of the BP teaser trailer but gotta admit...the concept behind this video is pretty smart
Brian Samuel Opati explain it please
They're questioning a witness to try and identify the perpetrator and make an arrest on El-P and Killer Mike. The beginning line up is a bunch of El-Ps and Killer Mikes (meant to represent undesirables of society) with some obvious red herrings like the nun, the handicapped man, and the "clean cut white boy." As the video goes on, the line-up gets more and more narrow, with the final being only cops and the two rappers, so that the witness basically has to choose to put the two rappers behind bars (even if they didn't commit the crime). Also, around the 2:30 mark, the numbers at the bottom of the screen represent the number of people incarcerated in the US, which has a much larger number of prisoners per capita than most other developed nations. Basically, the song is about how cops use shady practices and profiling to put a disproportionately large number of people, most typically minorities and people of ill reputation like rappers, into prison.
Has nothing to do with the asian girl that is RTJ's thing like Dwayne Johnson's eyebrow when he used to wrestle or Mike Jones phone number.

Coolest duo ever. I love that they're both 45 years old, bringing the styles they grew up with to a modern flair. I love both of their voices, especially how Killer Mike sounds. And they're both very articulate and brilliant. ♡ They play off each other flawlessly.
The influences they capture are well chosen...
Killer Mike is from A - Town. The flow and style never went away, just changed in modern times. You can call it crunk, phonk, trill, trap, whatever, but that southside influence is superb compared to anything else. Anyways, A Town didn't even start this style, it was mostly Tenessee, and Texas, M Town n H Town. A Town just came along afterwards, and NYC picked it up shortly after the south was rubbin off on the west coast. Cyphress Hill, Snoop, Outkast, most of em are their own, but you can look at their music and see the influences in certain songs.
well said, I concur!
These guys simply understand hip-hop, even though i’m not a fan of this type of beat in general, this one’s not bad.. the lyrical flow is what makes it the shit 👌

Judaism and Islam are not races ..he is still a white(caucasian) ginger guy..
StreetCliche people like you are the funniest in their thought process so here goes so Jewish and Muslim aren't races they are religions is your argument. So let say you're told a rastafarian man is waiting outside your office to see you are you expecting a black man or a white man what if you were told it was a Hindu you'd expect an Indian man or at least an Asian. Can a white person be rastafarian and take that up as his religion sure why not can a Mexican become a buhdist of course but most races have a predominant following to a piticular religion. race and religion and culture are all very closely related and in many cases throughout history jews are not considered white or Caucasian by white people this is common knowledge.
