@@tsubakiakamaru8660 Come to think of it, there were filler scenes in the DBZ anime showing that Frieza had been de-cyborged, so GT would've been going off of that. Of course, DBS now indicates that Frieza _was_ still a cyborg in Hell (and I think it's noted in the manga that people's bodies often come back the way they were when revived by the Dragon Balls, so it makes sense).

Honestly, I would have loved to see Gohan kill Raditz. The guy who kidnapped Gohan as a toddler and led to his fathers death, to now being significantly weaker than him and one-shoted. Basically the Frieza scene in Fusion Reborn.

It's such a weird thing... 18 learns a KI-BASED attack from Krillin when he teaches her to do Destructo-disk.
Androids DO have what is more-or-less ki. Heck at the end of Z we see 17 and 18 lend Goku power for the Spirit Bomb!
So they DO have ki! It's just harder to sense than normal ki. Heck, the black aura isn't even the first time 17 had an aura in combat.

I remember this arc where the past villains came back. It felt like a worse version of “Fusion reborn.”
Like bringing the villains back is a tall order to begin with, but doing it like this? Terrible. I hate it. 18 is the only somewhat good part of this arc.

I remember watching this when i was younger thinking the old villians should have been longer and used to keep the Z fighters busy (give them actual personalities and fights) while earth 17 should have still been good, but drawn to Hell 17. They then have a fight and fuse, rather then "oh they are both evil now, and all the villains are dead" just a lot of missed opportunities... probably due to time

Krillin Flat Outs Call Out 17 On Why He's Acting This Way, But Hell-Fighter 17 Controls Him Further And Kills Krillin
And So Did Goku, He Flat Out States That Even While 17 Was Fused Into Super 17, A Smal Glimpse Of Himself Was Still Fighting Back, He Knew That 18 Had The Bomb Removed, But He Still Couldnt Bring Himself To Kill His Sister (That's What Goku Tell 18 About 17/Super 17 After His Death)
They could have done so many fun interactions. Imagine Gohan and Goten meeting the evil King Piccolo. Mr. Satan fighting Colonel Silver and Staff Officer Black. Krillin getting revenge on Tambourine. Vegeta learning about the time Monster Carrot made Bulma wear a bunny outfit.

Apparently for some reason you also get to train in hell when your a villain. Even though technically that shouldn't be allowed, they would eventually become strong enough to get out of hell by force.
Kaiser's concerned about watching it in the order the creators intended and I'm sitting here questioning the idea that GT was made with intention of anyone actually watching it.
It feels like....a lot of bad corporate decision making made into an anime with 1 good episode. The literal Bee Plot.

Its pretty concretely after cell dies in the cell games, and Nappa is alive until Buu in the bits
The funny thing about the part you guys rip on of Goku's "misadventures" in hell.... those are literally the tortures of Japanese Hell [Jigoku]. He's just not really put off by them because he wasn't guilty (to a strong degree) of most of those sins, so they hardly affect him

The Super 17 story arc is why I have been saying for _years_ that Vegeta got done dirty when he didn't get to keep _his_ body.
I think what the Super 17 arc needed other than it being so short, and a few plot holes, I wish we got to know more about the original 17. Who is he now? Make me like him. Make me feel bad that he got mind controlled, and for hurting his sister against his will. Super 17 is just cool, and that's it.
People can say what they want about Super, but the downtime used in Super is used pretty well for other characters.

These hell episodes sure prove that if we ever had something well done kind of a mix of the original table special where everyone gets a moment and then something GOOD with resurrection F then we’d have such such fun.
I am so happy we got to capture that moment of "Ah, that's cool" to "Wait a moment" for 17s android ki.

Get a great moment where Krillin is completely out-classed, but he's trying to snap his wife out of it and Super 18 ends up hesitating a bunch because she doesn't want to hurt him. She separates and Goku and her finish off her evil counterpart.

Say what you will about Resurrection F. But they took full advantage of the premise. Frieza was allowed to be his deliciously evil self, there were nods to the continuity since his death. It’s a flawed story but it has its moments.
This arc was an easy set up for extended sequences and episodes of villains coming back. Cell looking to get revenge on Gohan, Frieza going after Trunks not realizing it’s a different one from the guy who killed him. Raditz being baffled that jis weakling brother had two sons and even a granddaughter who far outclass him. There was a lot to draw from
What I especially hate about Resurrection F is that they were too cheap to give Freeza an actual new form like Coola's. Freeza is not a Saiyan, there is no reason why his skin should just go turn gold as he reaches a new level.

After all, they had no problem redesigning Broly several times over the years and they eventually did give both Gohan and Piccolo new unique forms in the Super Hero movie. Heck, SSJ4 remains a fan favourite up to this day and it significantly alters Goku and Vegeta's appearances!

I love Horyinjutsu rendition of this episode of where Goku goes to hell to face off against Frieza and Cell, but unlike GT the villains have been training for all those years planning their revenge.
I remember that episode with Goku vs Cell and Freeza in the german dub, Goku jumped on the disc that Freeza fired and he was having a blast, and Cell was like "Who the hell he thinks he is, the freakin Silver Surfer?!" loved that.
(btw, the german dub of GT got extremely cut. We are missing like 13 episodes or something, we didn't got the Super17 fight and most of the shadow dragon arc. We just got a view flashbacks from the episodes before and the final episode)
This arc is 1 of the biggest reasons I don't see the argument that Super is worse than GT. Super did actually interesting things with 17 that didn't involve turning him evil through mind control & fusing him with a doppelganger. Just, why?

"Why did they put the post-ending special in the middle of the show?"
Theory time: GT was originally supposed to end with Baby. However, something happened behind the scenes that led to the execs going "we CANNOT end on Baby", so they hastily threw together the last dozen episodes, released the already finished special meant to be the big send off as filler, and then kept going in an attempt to salvage GT.
Though with how this show has been manhandled, it could honestly be anything.
This actually happened a lot. It was just rare for their western partners to mimic and do it too. Off of the top of my head, there's the entirety of the Digimon movies/specials that aired during the shows respective runs, even if it didn't make sense.
Our War Game aired early March 2000 and took place AFTER the show's end (and arguably spoiled the ending) since the show was still airing at the time and was wrapping up the Dark Masters/Apocalymon arc; 02 had its main movie, Hurricane Touchdown, air at about the mid-point and spoiled Magnamon before the it showed up in the show and Revenge of Diablomon/Diaboromon Strikes Back takes place after the show as well but was released as the show was in its last arc.
Its not even restricted to Toei either since you had stuff like Megaman NT Warrior/Rockman EXE movie, Program of Light and Dark, which absolutely feels like a finale (and arguably serves as a better one considering it does wrap up the Nebula plot from the games albeit rather different) and given how Beast and Beast+ didn't bother adapting 6 plot wise at all....

I love the concept of the Goku household having such absurd concepts on what is fun and interesting that to outsiders its practically the Adam's Family house.

Episode 41 despite being intermission filler was definitely one of GT's best episodes in all honesty.

honestly I loved episode 41 so much (easily my favorite gt episode so far) that 42 and 43 pissed me off way more than they should, also I find it funny that in the dub they replaced that ki sensing line trunks had with another line that makes no sense. For some reason in the dub he was surprised 17 was alive.
I saw some GT DVDs for sale in a second hand store today, one of the features was that you could have english dialogue with the japanese soundtrack (so it looks like some people out there understood that the dub soundtrack sucked...)
Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the Dub actually does have some commentary between Nappa and Vegeta during this arc

The thing with Chi-Chi is funny because the only reason she was ever mad or against what was going on was because Goku would abandon them for training or otherwise or because she just wanted Gohan to study and make it in life. Now Goku's settled at home, Gohan's got his job and family and we see her for who she really is; a happy and loving mother and housewife.
Also, I always look for the good in things and I feel that's why I can say I like GT. I know it's bad. There's some good ideas here and there. Just ultimately, they didn't think them through hard enough and made a LOT of inconsistencies and such.
