    Interesting spot for Honda to showcase driving impressions. Seems like they want the HR-V to appear adventurous but missing things like integrated roof rails, hitch for bikes, fog lights, etc. I do think there is a lot to like about the new HR-V, but could have used more available options and maybe even a higher touring-like trim.

    Interesting and valid comments here. With car prices through the roof, and even finding a car is near impossible, I chose a 2023 HR-V. The dealer had the one I want, a black EX-L, coming in August, so I put down a $500 deposit. Is it my dream car? Of course not, but the price is great (no dealer markup) and it’s a reliable vehicle. Front end could be better, wish it was the Euro version, as other have mentioned. Love the new taillights. Interior looks great. The whole magic seat thing means nothing to me…we don’t have people ever in the back seats. I wish it was available in a hybrid, but oh well.

    I was trying to figure out why the 2023 had removed the magic seats in the 2023, we've had a lease for various HRV models since 2017, and I couldn't find an explanation on why the 2023 (that we swapped to about 2 months ago) didn't have it, only that the 2022 did. I was completely unaware they had moved the gas tank. Appreciate the review man (even if this comment is coming a little late).

This would be about the same size as either the 2nd or 3rd gen with about the same amount of power from a 2.0 engine as compared to the 2.4 the CR-V used from the 2nd gen until 2017.

  • @user-rq3vt4kg4o
    @user-rq3vt4kg4o Před rokem +3

    Took it for test-drive today, so, I'm was not impressed.
    Not enough acceleration for me (but it's ok for a quiet retiree ride), a lot of motor noise from high RPM because of CVT (there is some soundproofing under the hood), rather unpleasant vibration throughout the car when you stand at a traffic light - in my opinion this is unacceptable.
    The car made in Mexico, don't know about quality and reliability, also the load on the engine and transmission due to more weight and AWD will increase compared to the Civic...
    The dealership in Colorado asked for $31.115 for Sport Trim with AWD (they add $1654 to price) which is a lot for car like this I guess.
    So, fair price in my mind for this Car should be no more than $25-28 at the exit with all taxes.
    There was no desire to buy (especially for this price).

    If you’ve had magic seats like our 2018 HRV their is no compromise. I find it appalling that Honda would change that. We love ours you can fit a full size home door with ease. With proper seat relocation a 6 foot driver can lay flat on an air bed. Our rear seats fold flat as well.

      @@milliem8051 I love mine. Mine is a 2018 bought new. Never looked back. Zero issues except premature out of warranty battery failure common to Honda. It’s part of there weight saving protocol that owners can fix. 90 percent of the time our rear seats are folded down loaded up with fishing gear. A 7 foot pole lays right beside the console. In magic seat mode where both rear seats are lifted and locked I took a 55” big in its box home. I wouldn’t buy based on the magic seat alone.

For $30k I would by a 2016-18 low mile Acura RDX with the rip snorting 3.5L V6 which I have gotten 28mpg on the highway traveling from Ohio to Florida. I own a 2017 Advance with 120k miles and it drives and runs great. (I am a former Acura and Honda salesman so I am quite familiar with both vehicles)My RDX interior is amazingly durable, looks new. I bought this vehicle used 6 months ago for less than $20k. I have seen 2018 RDX Advance models with low miles for around $30k. Way more car for the money and almost as efficient.

For those reasons, the current mania of dropping roof lines by shaving off back seat head room to accommodate a 'swoopy' roof line drives me nuts. It is even more exasperating when the designers supply plenty of rear legroom with no place for passengers to put their heads! As the owner of an older Toyota model that leaves me with over 2 inches of spare headroom, I am particularly offended by the fact Toyota dramatically reduced head and leg room in their TNGA generation. When it comes to compact and subcompact CUVs, the CR-V and new HR-V put the RAV4 and Corolla Cross to shame.

      Our local dealer doesn't do Market Adjustments, however, their way of getting a little extra is to include undercoating and paint protection on all vehicles sold, no exceptions. This adds about $1300 to the price of all their cars, however, at least you're getting something for your money. It's not a deakership that's pocketing $3-5k just because they can. It's value added for the price. Better than a ton of the stealerships out there that are greedy. And, besides, I always add the undercoat to all cars being in New England, so no big deal here.

    My '19 CR-V LX AWD is rated for 31 MPG Highway. It's bigger, I assume heavier, has a larger engine (2.4L vs 2.0) that makes more power (184 HP and 184 lb ft torque). 30 on an HR-V with way less room and way less power simply doesn't make sense! Buy a used CR-V instead if you don't want to spend the extra on a new CR-V.

      The worse gas mileage comes with more power. My sister is leasing a 2020 HRV and it’s by far the worst Honda product my family has owned / leased. Maybe it’s because it’s made in Mexico unlike other Hondas, or maybe it’s because it was based off the Fit. But it’s by far the worst handling and poorly finished Honda. I hope that this will fix much of it and so far it looks promising.
