- How to connect the FX6 to the Sony Content Browser Mobile app. The registration and use of the new app „Monitor & Ctrl“ works the same way. It's not that easy, but once you've done it, the app offers amazingly extensive functions. All camera settings can be adjusted, but you can also pull focus or use touch to focus, for example. The video quality of the livevew is not particularly high-resolution and pulling focus is a bit rough, but the app saves me when using the camera on a crane, for example.

Thank you!!! I have been searching for this everywhere!
Thank you for the explanation, this worked for me.
Just wanted to thank you for your assistance with setting up this app with my FX6.
I have a question. After connecting the camera with the application I get the following message: "The connected device can't stream to this app for some reasons." Could you help me with this? Thank you so much
I haven't seen that message before. First, I would check the basics: camera firmware? Which app are you using? (CBM or M&C?)
Well done 👍
Is it just me or is there no way to set the camera date/time using the CBM app? This feature is so helpful when using the FX3 and other Alpha cameras as it syncs the time for all of them.
Thank you for the good explanation, only one thing I'm missing in het app and that is CAMERACONTROL 2 , in my app only CAMERACONTROL, ASSIGN and PLAYBACK appears.
Unfortunately, I don’t have a solution for you. I just checked again and have not found an option to design the menu items myself or the like. I can’t think of more than saying that you may not have the latest version installed right now.
I have installed the app on several devices (Tablet & Phone) and cameracontrol 2 Is available everywhere. However, they are all iOS devices, how it looks on Android, I don’t know.
can you connect multiple FX6s and monitor them side by side over the app?
Not that I know
Update: Perhaps… There's a new multicam switch in the app. I assume it only works if all devices are connected to a router. I'll have to test that out sometime.
Update:
Sony has released a new app called "Monitor & Control" (M&C). Currently, it includes the same options and display quality, and the "old" app continues to function. The login process remains the same.
Please tell me it can work on firmware 4.0
@@samluo7369 Yes!
This tutorial still works the same with firmware 4.0 - with the new app and the old one.
I am trying to do this and I do not have the setup for mobile app this what am I missing
My first assumption would be that the camera has an older firmware version and that an update is necessary to unlock this feature.
thanks for sharing! Very useful!
My APP does not connect with my FX6. I dont know why. But is the newer app. Good video!
Are you already on firmware 4.00?
Is the WiFi activated in the FX6, Can you already see the WLAN of the FX6 on your mobile phone or tablet?
thanks für answwering so fast@@deadendboredom :-) I do not have the latest firmware installed yet. I have to check the version. Otherwise i did every step on the video. Thanks i could be the solution. I will check the firmware. Yes i see the wlan on the mobile phone.
@@thomaskistler4274 Supposedly, the new M&C App works from firmware version 3.00 onwards, but having version 4.00 can't hurt.
If you can see the Wi-Fi, that's already a good sign. My next question would be at which point it exactly fails.
The biggest challenge during setup is that there are two sets of passwords and names. One set is for connecting to the Wi-Fi, and the second set is for accessing the camera.
@@deadendboredom thank you so much, it was the problem. I was running an old firm ware and after updating it works. Very nice and thanks a lot!!! :-)
@thomaskistler4274 I’m glad to hear that and good luck! Grüße gehen raus ;)
Can you control it over a network? Mostly control iris in another room from the camera.
To my knowledge, there is no web interface like with the FR7.
But what you can do: connect the camera to your normal WLAN router and then control the camera with a tablet or smartphone and the app via your WLAN network.
For this, don‘t select „Access Point Mode“ in the settings, but „Station Mode“.
Then connect the Camera to your network in „ST Mode Settings“ and enter the password and then the communication runs over the network and not directly between the camera and tablet.
You make really good content
Love your videos! Question: So, however I choose to setup(compose) my shot through the app, that same composition is automatically applied to that shot via the Sony camera...including the focus and picture profile?
Thank you very much and this is a very interesting question.
The image section of what the camera sees and records is identical to the image section you see in the app.
The colors in the app are independent of the recording in the camera, whether you get a view Lut displayed there or not, depends on whether you have activated „MLUT“ on page 5 in the quick menu or not.
The focus you set in the app is of course identical to that of the camera, but you won’t really be able to estimate the sharpness in the app because the resolution is too low for that.
You can change much of the camera settings in the app, but by far not all of them.
In particular, you will find settings that you would like to change more often during the shoot, such as iso, Iris, ND and focus, but special settings such as the choice of the codec or HDMI output settings you have to make in the cameras menu.
@@deadendboredom Thank you so much for the clarification.
God Bless! :)
I'm stuck at 0.55. There's no sign of the camera in my iphone. A 6s, maybe that's why?
The app should actually work from iOS 14 and the 6s should be theoretically compatible with iOS 15. Are you sure that the wifi of the camera is active?
Im stuck at trying to connect to the camera through the app. It keeps saying wrong password. I even reset the network settings, tried a different device and set my own passcode. Cant get anything to work. Any tips ?
There are two different passwords: the first thing you need is the WLAN password to join the camera’s WLAN. The second password is the one you need together with the user name to log in to the camera after you are connected to the WLAN.
The WLAN password can be found under >Network >AP Mode Settings >SSID & Password.
The password to log in can be found at >Network >Setup for Mobile App >Setup
I hope that can solve the problem
But how do I tether it
What exactly do you mean by that? There is a way to „tether“ the data via an FTP server, but this seems to be complicated and of course requires a server. I only found a tutorial for the FX9 here, but that should work the same way with the FX6.

What firmware do I need on y FX 6 to get this to work?
Firmware 3.00
Doesn't seem to have a preview of the audio levels which is the whole reason i got the app :L come on Sony!
How much distance it will come
Basically as far as the WLAN range is from the tablet and camera. After 10m and through a wall it still goes, from there it becomes more unreliable. It is not comparable to a professional Videotransmitter, but I find it surprising how far and how well it works.
My FX6 DOSENT SHOW SET UP MOBILE
Do you have the latest firmware 3.00 ?
No
@@EscapeThe9 That should be the solution to the mystery
My CBM cannot monitoring when the camera set 24p,do you have this problem?
That's very interesting! I just tested it, and at 24p, I actually encounter the exact same issue. Interestingly, it works flawlessly at 23.98. One thing I noticed is that at 24p, we can't change the recording resolution and are limited to 4096x2160, while in other framerates, we can adjust the resolution. I can imagine that might be the reason behind the problem. Let's wait for the upcoming firmware update.
@@deadendboredom thanks
They released a firmware update and even a new app - Monitor & Control, but it still doesn't work with 24fps :-/ Strange
@@lukastemberger I realize that too, and the image quality is the same, feel like nothing improve right now, maybe Sony will upgrade in the future
@@lukastemberger Thank you for the tip!
Interestingly, the old app also continues to work.
Does this work with FX30 Fx3 A7IV?
No, there is the „Imaging Edge“ app for these cameras, which supports less/more and other functions.
@@deadendboredom Thanks, would love to control it from my laptop
Setup up for mobile app is greyed out. I swear everytime I watch a tutorial the damn setting I need is greyed out.
When I encountered the problem, it was because the camera was still on firmware version 2.0. Are you already on firmware 3.0?
does anyone know how to stream from a Sony fx9 if that's even possible lol?
What kind of „stream“ do you mean, RTMP directly from the camera to CZcams etc., or stream to the tablet similar to this video with the FX6?
What an overwhelmingly unnecessary procedure to connect ;-/
Yes - as soon as it is set up, however, it is very quick to connect to it again, even after the camera was off. On the whole, it’s a bit like connecting a computer to the wireless network... You do that once and not again afterwards.
