  • I feel very privileged to be joining the William Clarke College community and am glad the time has finally arrived. I’ve lost count of the number of people who have reached out to me as soon as they heard I was coming here, letting me know how much they loved their connection to the place - either as a student or parent, or with a close connection to someone who loves the College. Since meeting everyone at the school last week for the first time, I can already see why. I have been amazed how I’ve been welcomed so warmly - students, staff, and parents alike - even after they’ve found out that I’m a Wests Tigers supporter! It is clear to me that this is a very special place.
As I join the College, I am grateful to be standing on the shoulders of those who have come before me. It’s remarkable to think the College is only 35 years young, given the development of the campus and the maturity and strength of the community we have.
I’m excited to see some of the recent major educational initiatives and the impact they are having on our students. These include in the Primary School the LANS Literacy and Numeracy Specialists, who are strengthening the solid foundation in knowledge and skills we are laying for our youngest students, which are essential to a high-quality education. In the Secondary School, I am very interested in way the new curriculum and timetable structure has been embraced, sparking improved engagement and passion in students as well as their teachers. As I join the College, I know I am joining a team of committed educators, who are not only professional in their approach to their work but also show a genuine concern for the students under their care.
I know I am joining a place that is in great shape. So now is the time to continue to focus on the fantastic work that has been going on for many years. Of course, there is always room for improvement, and so it is my aim to see that all we do continues to keep getting better and better.
My vision for the College is that we would be who we say we are:
    That is, a Christ-centred community,
That seeks to develop extraordinary learners
With a passion to serve others.
This is an ambitious claim, and one that needs the support and prayers of the whole community if we’re able to do this, and to keep doing this better.
I’m really excited for what lies ahead. And I’m really looking forward to connecting with everyone in the College community. Please be patient with me as I get to know everyone here. And please don’t be shy to say hello and introduce yourself if you see me around the traps. I love meeting people and am looking forward to seeing you around the College in the year ahead.
