Years ago, in my second grade class, we used to have sing-along one of the songs that my teacher, Mr Newkirk played on his guitar. I just randomly remembered this song, and decided to look it up. Brings back good memories
I grew up in southern Alabama and believe it or not when I was a kid we had a local ECHL hockey team the Mobile Mysticks and my parents had season tickets and I became a huge hockey fan early in life living in rural Alabama and this song brings back so many memories of going to games.
Growing up every year my grandma would take me to see Disney On Ice. As good as the shows were my favorite part was Intermission when the Zamboni came out

Remember years ago when took young hockey playing son to somewhere near West Chester PA (George Washington Arena?) and their gas powered Zamboni's fumes gave off so much ethyl menthol bad stuff bad fumes that the driver, all the parents and even people in the lobby had to leave the building as everyone got so sick. Luckily after an hour or so, everyone recovered. Love this song!
First heard this song at the Phoenix Roadrunners games in the early 90’s, the old affiliate of the LA Kings playing in the IHL. When my town of San Antonio finally got a legit team in the ahl and got to hear this song every night it was awesome. Till Henderson NV stole them and now I’m without hockey again 😔

we have a hockey team fort wayne komets.we used to be in the IHL then went to the UHL.went to the AHL/IHL for two seasons now the komets are in the ECHL.we used to play against Quad city mallards.
okay.... even so, I still wanna drive a zamboni as a job someday..... what are the job requirements for a zamboni driver? What would have to be on my resume for someone to even consider hiring me to drive the zamboni?
@rocknarollsports Quick explanation of a long story: Started as Quad City Mallards in 95-96, dominated the Colonial Hockey League and United Hockey League until roughly 01-02 season. Huge crowds...7k+ per night; performance dropped off & about 2500 bandwagon fans disappeared. Owners brought in Calgary Flames' AHL franchise (QC Flames) for 07-08/08-09 seasons to reignite area's interest. Didn't work, now the Mallards can't pull enough fans to break even in CHL; 3 ownership changes since 08-09 .
@NHLBruinsFan2011 Unfortunately, yes. :( A lot of the local fans refused to support the team because they weren't named the Mallards (we had a UHL franchise for about 11 seasons before the Flames). The AHL team only lasted 2 years before the owners lost too much money to keep it going. The Quad Cities do have a AA-level CHL team now, though...but I miss AAA-level hockey.
it seems a bit lose ended to say its about just your rink. Sounds more like its about your zamboni anyways... and even then it could just be about any god damn zamboni as its not a song that goes into great detail.
Zamboni was created in paramount California by Joh J Zamboni. Technically it's called an ice resurfacer. I guess it's like Kleenex for tissue or jacuzzi for hot tub.
