    Chrysler Slant 6 225 Cubic Inch. Great, strong engine, hard to kill them. They made tons and a lot were used in various farm equipment, including a 300 Massey combine, and lots of balers.

    As a machinist by trade, I applaud and love your ingenuity and mechanical knowledge to put this together. I love watching your family’s farm, it’s always a pleasure, and I think of it a relaxing music. If I could be a farmer, I’d love to be one like your family’s. Keep up the great content, and God bless you with fortune and bumper crops

    Hello Walker farms I am a huge fan of MN Farmer and when he teacher 200,00 subscribers he asked his fan to extend the courtesy to Walker Farms for putting your support to him. I did this and I most say This is Farming a whole new level. It brings the past to present day. I grew up around my Grandfather's Tobacco farm that did a little of every thing and my uncle's Grain and little of everything farm. Both farms were Farmall and International. Later Highschool and early audit hood I worked on hayfarm with racehorses which was Ford tractors. I got out of farming and went into EMS. At 50 I sure miss my youth of farming. Your CZcams channel is so over the top. Thank you and Your farm for giving back my youth. Thanks to Zach I discovered you and your family. Your new fan

    Oh man, that is cooler than ice cream. The Chrysler 225 slant 6 was extremely popular engine, I think it’s one of the top 10 engines of all time. They ran about 145 hp or so. My mother had two Dodge Darts, they both had the 225 slant 6 in them, good old motors.

    This is very similar with something my brother an i threw together. We used a logging tractor (a Ford of some description originally, it's been modified successively by at least 10 people) the really tall ones and made a deck from some scrap bits and a aircraft hanger door section. Thing's a death trap, but does its work, cuts very well in fact, we even use it to cut shrubs and whatnot by engaging the killer mode (IE lifting the front of the deck and exposing the blade). Fabricobling is the best.

    @wildcoyote34 Před 6 lety +1

    hey guys that is a cool mower ,, cheap and simple ,,works good too from the look of it
    good use of an old machine that would otherwise be in the boneyard or cut up for scrap
    as for the the engine ,, this is a Chrysler 225 Slant 6 ,, it is a very well built durable engine and was made for many years all the way into the early 1990s ,it was also known as the super 6 ,, it was used in generators by the military , and all types of industrial machines from combines and mowers like this to large water pumps and power carts to start airplanes ,,it was a very dependable and economical power plant ,,easy to work on and parts were readily available at any chrysler dealer
    this is a far cry from my wide area mower which i bought USED and paid $25000 for it ,,I mow a lot of pastures and do a lot of finish mowing ,,my big mower is a 1994 TORO 580D grounds master ,,it's powered by a 125HP mitsubishi turbo diesel ,,originally it had a 90hp yanmar diesel but i t was under powered ,,and I ended up buying a new engine for it,, the updated engine was for a newer toro mower ,, it's a monster , 4 wheel drive ,with rear steering ,totally hydraulic driven ,, it has 2 folding side wings each a 60 inch independent mower with a 72 inch front deck ,,I can also use it as a dozer to push dirt or plow snow ,, and i also have a 6ft snowthrower that will clear 18 inches of snow while the machine moves at 12mph

    225 slant 6....nearly unstoppable! Had a few of them over the years. They chew through starters but seem to run forever. Had a Volare wagon that came to me with 200k and we put 300k more on it. Sold it and the new owner had put almost another 100k on it the last time I saw it. I think the chassis rotted out eventually, but that engine would just not die.

  • @SurferJoe46
    @SurferJoe46 Před 5 lety

    If it hasn't been said already, that's a MoPaR Chrysler Corporation 225 ci, slant-6 engine. These were typically in Dodge Dart and Plymouth type vehicles in the late 60s to somewhere in the mid 80s IIRC.
    The engine is basically bulletproof and in all the years I worked with them, I never had much trouble with them. Some minor oil seepage at the valve cover, but, especially with the spark plug well tubes that were later on redesigned integrally into the head and never needed new o-ring gaskets when you changed plugs.
    There was a 170 ci version too..... it was used in vehicles with manual transmissions, while the 225 almost always went in vehicles with automatic transmissions and AC, because of the early automatic transmission and AC power sucking losses being greater.
    I have 10 acres on my Hamilton property......and not anywhere near the scope of your gear, but I've built my own MOAM [Mother Of All Mowers] with a Kohler 22.5 pancake twin and a JD 48 inch, three blade deck. It runs parallel with the left front wheel of my 1956 Case VAC tractor...... mounted on a boom with the mowing deck swiveling and self steering front tires so it can get 180 degrees around fence posts. The Kohler engine only powers the blades.
    I chose that Kohler engine because it has an actual oil pressure system with a filter and a Low-Oil sensor...... and it's what I had........ that's Farmer's I.Q.
    You've got your Ford Implement Blue paint..... I've got my Chevrolet Moly Orange.
    PS..... we've got rain here today, so I'll send it up to your end of the state when we're done with it. It will most likely be snow when it gets there though.
    Make some snow angels for us.... OK?
