    We were feeding commercial dog food to our Maltese (first time Maltese owners) her tear stains and paw staining were awful and eye booger buildup was really bad needing daily cleaning. Then I changed her diet and soaked her feet in liquid betadine after every bath then rinsed in plain water. Her tear stains and feet cleared up in three weeks and cleaning her eye boogers (very tiny ones) only once a week. It’s awesome. Her diet is now homemade chicken/beef mince/rice and veg, she loves it. She gets one treat a day one raw chicken wing cut into 3 small pieces. I’ve had people stop me on our walks and ask how we keep on top of her tearstains because she doesn’t have any. Very happy Maltese owner...now

      Is it safe to give a puppy raw meat? I live in a tropical country and afraid to give raw meat to my Maltese

    How do you keep their hair so shinny?

  • @saylow595
    @saylow595 Před 2 lety +2

    I keep my maltese's hair 1 to 3 inches. The constant brushing starts after that

    What I do with my Maltese is simply comb thru the tear stained area. Although she never had any stains because I comb thru it. At least 4 times a day. Never had any problem with that.

    Is it possible to train them inside the home and outside the home .. we just got one and he is doing a pretty good job going outside but when we have to leave the house for a few hours I would like him to use the pads !!

    • @MalteseAngels
      @MalteseAngels  Před 2 lety +4

      Hi, I think indoor potty training needs more time to train. It is better to train indoors first because dogs can easily potty outside. Outside has many dog's scents which makes them go potty easily. If you let him use to potty outside first, he might have a hard time to potty train indoors. We saw many friends's dogs are like that. It becomes a permanent harbit so they just can't potty inside the house. Hope our experience can help you ^^

      Dog trainer here (& Maltese owner). There really is no need for your dog to potty inside once completely potty trained. It often causes confusion and makes potty training outside harder. Potty outside is much more than smelling another dogs potty, especially if your dog has a yard of its own with no other dogs scent. Getting a crate and properly potty training means that you should be able to leave your house for a few hours with no issues. Every month your pup gets older is another hour they can hold their potty.

    Can I ask what food you feed them? Do you give them any treats?

    • @MalteseAngels
      @MalteseAngels  Před 3 lety +2

      Hi! Right now we're feeding them Fromm Gold Small Breed kibble. They don't get any table food, however we do give them treats (dental greenie's once a day and occasionally pup cookies from various brands)

    • @sustainablelife1st
      @sustainablelife1st Před rokem

      Ignore this advice. Kibble is unhealthy, especially if not supplemented with a natural diet.

    • @MalteseAngels

      Before they were eating Fromm Gold Weight Management Dog Food. Right now they are having blue buffalo canned dog food. We are still testing it😊

    how do you keep your dog from getting wet while drinking water

    • @MalteseAngels
      @MalteseAngels  Před 2 lety

      I think every dog might be different. Bailey learned to drink water from a bowl since she was a baby, so she never gets wet. A-Rod was drinking from a bottle dispenser since he was a baby. After we switched to a bowl, he did get wet on his face initially. Somehow he figured out how to lick the water without getting wet. He never has a wet face anymore.

    Can they eat home food milk for example?

    • @MalteseAngels
      @MalteseAngels  Před rokem

      Short answer is it depends. We normally don't give table food due to seasonings that can cause a lot of trouble (eg. garlic, onions, etc are bad and unknown additives). If we're eating plain carrots maybe... definitely no on the milk.

    Please don't get a Maltese if you're not going to maintain their fur. It needs work and if you don't do it, the groomer is a very unpleasant experience for them!!!

  • @sustainablelife1st
    @sustainablelife1st Před rokem

    Kibble is horrible! Please switch to natural diet. You are wrong, most commercial dog food is bad, not good.
