I like how he stayed calm and closed his eyes while you trimmed around them. When I trim around my pups eye's he constantly tries to move and bite the scissors.
What kind of dog is he btw
Her dog is a Maltese. :)
April Luna thanks (:
Hannah Renee Maltese are easy to train
Hannah Renee exactly my dog is the same
Your dog is soooo cute & so well behaved! I'm watching this and laughing because I know there's no way in hell my dogs would let me do this to them :D
Ahh Anna could you imagine how long it would take to do all six. :) x x x
+Anna Saccone hahaha, he's had lots of practice!
Anna Saccone --Hi Anna, that's a lol for sure, I never thought mine would suit still either, but to my surprise, I talked n reassured him all was ok & a lotta "good boy" during bath n cut times, but after was finished, not to bad, looked like a lamb, lol, but did pretty good, so don't underestimate your doggie, (or your self even) idea!!,bring small treats to give when he's doing good.
Good luck if you ever try it.
🐾🐾🐩🐾🐾
Theyre very smart breeds xD my maltese is so calm like hers xD
Anna Saccone vhfoyi0
I'm just going to say what everyone's thinking. You were blessed with such a well behaved and calm dog.
Boy, no kidding!
It come from doing this since he was a pup. My dog is the same way. We gave her treats as a puppy when she stayed still etc etc
I thought that too . I cannot tell you what I have to do when I work with my puppy. He is awful and drives me nuts
Exactly! My dog, half Cocker/half Maltese, is almost 11 yo & she still acts like a puppy! So hyper! She has NEVER liked being groomed, EVER! No matter how many treats I give her she won't cooperate at all! Anyone who can get their dog to be OK with it is a GENIUS in my book. LOL
Yessssss
Whose here because their dog needs a hair cut but your under quarantine
smmal yesssss!!! They are too fluffy now and i can’t take them to the groomer 😢 Theres going to be a lot of wonky looking dogs very soon 🤣
Yep- tried to groom with a pair of craft scissors. Did not turn out well at all . . .
@@MM-ey7xz it's not actually healthy for your dog to trim him with craft scissors
i bought a brush and just started daily grooming, gonna see how long that last before the fur begins to mat up
Yup! I'm hoping to bathe and groom my dog today
My dog will not stay this still omg. He hates water he hates brushing everything , seeing your dog so calm makes me so jealous lol
yes! I'm terrified of doing this since i just got mine. hes not fully vaccinated so I can't take him to a groomer. Hopefully he'll get better at it...along with me. He's terrified of the bath.
Jess Cedano my dog is too
Jess Cedano this might be obvious. Have you tried putting him on a waist high table and groomed him there? Dogs calm down when they're far from the ground. That's how I groom mine.
I had just gotten my dog when i posted this. Now he's amazing. I guess they just have to get used to the new sounds and all. :)
1SmokedTurkey1 most ppl do it on a table that high.. including all groomers:). especially groomers.. who's gonna bend over grooming dogs on the floor for 8 hrs daily? :)).all ppl do that.. i mean who's sink is on the floor when u think about it. :)))
All I can think about is how much of a good boy he’s being 🥺
Omg yes! He’s so well behaved :)
a comment of hers says she's been grooming him for over a decade now so this definitely is not the first time for either of them. They are both fairly comfortable with the entire at home process. It's certainly doable for ANYONE. Just take your time, and be patient. "Greatness takes time" try @t for information on supplies for the newbie and how to use them. Feel free to message us here or on facebook if you have any questions. Stay safe 🙏🏽
I know I’m late to watching this video but I am a groomer and you said you would like tips so here’s what i have for you. First off, you did a great job for not having any professional training! One thing that did make me cringe was the paw pads. You can get a 40 blade, or use the 10 blade that came with the clippers. Just take that over the paw pads and you can dip in between the pads as well to make it as nice and clean as possible. Also, you mentioned always having trouble with the ears. One thing you can try to get the ears even much more easily is to trim them without holding the ear in your hand. When you’re holding the ear, it is not laying in its natural state. Therefore, it will not be straight when you let it go. Another thing that I noticed which isn’t really a big deal because clearly it works for you, but when you hold shears, you are supposed to have your thumb and ring finger in the holes. Like I said, doesn’t really matter if it works for you. I think that is more for people that groom every day to help us not get carpal tunnel as easily. And my last piece of advice is that if you are interested in expanding your grooming equipment to make trimming the face easier, I would suggest getting clipper combs. They are little attachments that hook onto your blade (the 30 or 15 blade is recommended but the 10 blade will work too, the length will just be a little longer than the length that the comb says). When standing in front of your dog, you will take the clipper comb over the top of your dog’s head towards the nose and then run it down the sides of the face as well. This will make it so that the head is all one symmetrical length. And then you will just trim up the muzzle and use the thinning shears to blend any lines that you may see to make it all smooth. Oh and extra tip, you actually can take the blades in the reverse direction of the hair growth. I do it all the time, you just have to go 2 blade lengths up. This helps get the coat super smooth looking all over. Definitely recommend going in reverse on Malteses! 5/8 would be 2 lengths up from a 4 blade in case you want to try that out! Sorry for such a long comment but hopefully this will help you or someone reading this out! And again, great job. Definitely the best home groom I have ever seen
no one cares
I care
Wow that is so helpful even for us noobs
That is so generous of you to give tips!! Thank you as well
Quick question, I have a Maltese and he absolutely hates when i try to cut the hair on his legs, around his legs and his belly or near his private...lol.....so i dont force it. He also tries to bite, he is rather feisty but so sweet and loving otherwise. Is it ok to place a muzzle on him while I trim him? Idk what they do at the groomers, I've always wondered.........hmmmmm
By the end of quarantine, I’m gonna be a professional dog groomer 😅🙈
CareBear___ 🤣
Same haha
Great idea, for extra cash! I take my two dogs every other month, at a cost of $55.each plus tip. ($125.00). Groomer has them done in less than 45 minutes. She does the business out of her home. Very busy place. She has been in business for five years. I bet she makes $4-500. CASH a day! Not a bad business. Biggest cost for you would be a location, unless you can do it out of your Home. You would need to dedicate a room, or two for the operation, plus an area outside, (when the weather is nice).
Aren't we all? Hallelujah
This is probably something my BFFs mom would have said.
Just saying that randomly even though I know it's off topic. But it's true.
Hi! I am a professional groomer and just wanted to leave a few helpful tips! First, I noticed when you do the top of Bear's head, you do it all with scissors, a quicker way you could do that would be to use a snap on guard comb and run that over the top of his head, it will speed up the process so much! 😊 with a guard comb it is safe to use it on top of the head and you can also clip with the hair growth and against to get a nice finish (forward and back). You will snap the guard combs over a 10 blade. You can find these combs at Petco! Just ask a groomer or associate if you have trouble finding them. Also, since you bought the Andis clippers it should have came w a 10 blade. The 10 you can actually use inside of his paw pads to get the pads cleaner and get a lot more out (just be very careful). The best blade to use for the pads however is a 30 or 40 blade. When you trim around the paws, an easy way to do it is to place the dogs foot on the table or surface and trim around instead of picking up his paw and trimming that way. You get a nicer rounder foot! I'm not sure if you do his sanitary areas (privates), but you can also do those areas w a 10 blade. On his lower belly area where the hair is less around and on the privates you can lightly go over those areas 😊 same w his behind. You can go over that hair w a 10 safely just be very careful and try not to touch it w the blade too much. When it comes to trimming the tail a fast, easy, and nice looking way to do that is to twist the end hair around your finger or twirl around your finger and snip the end that is twisted. It will come out very even. Of course just note where the tail is. I would explain the ear trimming but it is too hard to explain lol and would be easier just to show. Over all, not bad! 😉
Aubrey Lara thanks so much for these :) i will try the comb guard on the blades and see how I like them. I have a bunch from the set I bought but never use them.
Aubrey Lara a few 😂😂😂
Wow, what helpful tips. What a very nice person to have shared all this. Thank you!
Thanks for sharing these tips
What
I'm a professional dog groomer and I'm actually really impressed! You seem like you did a lot of research and you don't just jump into it. You're a natural at it! You should think about getting trained in grooming, you'd be great! And your dog is amazing at this, love that he just sits there! I wish more dogs were like that!
+missashleeymarie thank you so much :):)
I would like to get trained in grooming, but not sure where to go. I’m in CA, Valley area. Any suggestions?
@@thewonderforest how short do you leave his hair?
This is so much nicer than the videos I see by groomers who are so rough with the dogs. Your dog just kept looking at you like he loves you.
Hey loves! i created this video in 2015 and obviously I've learned a lot more over the years and have improved a lot! I wanted to address some comments:
- If you have a bouncy dog who won't let you do this, please don't attempt it. I am lucky that Bear is so calm and it's only because he is used to it... he's been getting groomed since he was a baby and he's 12 years old now. He has trust in me and is pretty much my shadow :)
- I've been using the Live Clean Eco Pooch shampoo for a couple of years and love it! Please stop commenting about Hartz shampoo. I used it in the video because it was on hand. I DON’T use this normally. The Martha Stewart puppy one is also good.
- I am able to scissor his paws because I am super careful and he allows me to do it. Groomers suggest using the clippers for safety reasons, so do that instead.
- I keep his eyes clean from tear stains by staying on top of them. I HATE when dogs have goopy eyes so I am constantly picking out the dried bits whenever I see them and I trim out any stained areas frequently. Bear has never had a huge issues with tear stains though. There are products you can get to clean the stains but the best I've found is to just use rubbing alcohol on a q-tip CAREFULLY and not close to the eyes. This is best if it's run down his face. I rarely ever do this as trimming keeps it under control.
- Negative comments are not appreciated. Helpful ones are! We are always learning, so instead of jumping on people why not offer solutions or tips instead?
- Regarding clipping in the kitchen...You want your dog to be at eye level with you, so you need a higher surface. We don't eat here, so don't worry. And remember, he is freshly cleaned. The area is also thoroughly cleaned afterwards just like any other surface (I figured that was a give-in?).
- Bear is 99.9% Maltese. He is just large for his breed (he was supposed to be half the size). I had him DNA tested. (the 0.1% is Cavalier King Charles Spaniel more than 3 generations in the past)
- Finally, I accept zero responsibility if you try this and your dog doesn't cooperate, or he ends up looking like a hacked mess haha. You should know your own capabilities and your dog's personality better than anyone so do this at your own risk. And if you have any questions or want to get better at this, ask or watch a groomer and build up your own knowledge!! DO NOT attempt this if you haven't learned all you can beforehand.
Wonder Forest ...
I have maltese pup. He has long fur from his little pee-pee...is it ok to trim that as it's wet after he spiddles??? Please! TY!
He is adorable
RANDOM VIDEOS OF EVERYTHING 2018 I cut my dogs - seems more hygienic... I call it his “paintbrush” lol!!
I know this is old, but for anyone who might be need to know:
Always! ALWAYS! Brush/detangle/dematte your pup BEFORE bathing.
If you wash a knotted dog, the water will strengthen/reenforce those tangles and itll cause pain or skin irritation
Sue Caggiano Depends on the dog. My breed should never be brushed or combed unless his hair is wet.
everytime i wash my dog when we are done he starts to go crazy and runs around like crazy
Haha my dog does that too :)
Mine to
same with my dog!!
luv us same lol
same with mine hahahaha then he goes with all of his toys and play
The way he calmly sits there and gazes at you is a testament to how much he trusts you! It's also a reflection of your skill and confidence at grooming him. My dog wouldn't have stood for that. I think he had a little ADHD. :)
+Daniel Quock :) thank you Daniel
Hi, I'm a groomer! just few tips!! you can do a precut before the bath by shaving him down first doing under the pads and doing his sanitary(with a 10) I usually don't do the face during a pre cut tho i normally do it after. it's a lot less hair to dry and after you dry it, it will show any pieces you missed and you can shave right over his body again just to make sure it's super smooth
Good tip.
I'm a groomer been grooming for 30 years.
I just wanted to compliment you. You do a really good job!😊
Thank you for this. Makes absolute sense to me
Bear was such a good boy while you did this!!! He didn’t move or anything. Such a good boy!
I had a maltese that passed away this year and he was EXACTLY like Bear! Chubby and with the same innocent look, aw. I usually like adopting better than buying dogs, but maltese dogs groomed like that look so cute.
Miss you Cliper :(
Aww... Sorry!! R. I. P
So sorry about your baby. I lost one 10 years ago and planted a white rose bush over her grave. Had to adopt another Maltese, although like you, I prefer to rescue. They are my all time favorite breed because of their sweet and easy going temperament. I found my current one using a small breed rescue. She’s fantastic. Hope you can find another sweet one soon, too.
Your dog is an angel. He's so patient! 😍
Bear is like the most well-behaved dog I have ever seen!! And he is so cute!! 🐕🐕🐕
Your dog is a mirror of your soul. You are so calm, what a good leader you are to your dog! So much calm and trust. Just natural and happy.
He is sooooo adorable and well-behaved!! 😍🐶
Best video I've seen, clear, bright lighting and adorable Maltese! Thank you! *Runs out to buy thinning sheers* I've been grooming my Shih Tzu's for 2 years and never figured out the way to avoid the blunt cut look.
+Ambrosia Malbrough so glad you liked it!
Same here!...I would have never thought about thinning shears and I have them too! Thank you for sharing with us. I have a Maltese as well and running her to groomers every 5 weeks. I do bath her about every 2 weeks because she is 6 1/2 LBs and close to ground. gets dirty from her 4 walks a day.
yep me too, I need those thinning shears to blend!
What an amazingly trusting little darling. He’s so good. 💕
Your puppy is so precious and loves you so much. You can tell in the way that he enjoys looking at you when you're trimming up around his eyes and face.
Wish my dog would just sit there and let me do that. I try cutting his hair and he goes ballistic.
hahah same.
+Stormi Johnson Yes, I found my English cocker spaniel very tiring to groom as he would constantly pull away. :(
lol, I ended up paying to have him groomed instead. hes 10 years old now.
Your profile pics fits your post soo well LMAO XXD =D

lolol it's amazing he just cooperates and knows to sit still and let you do your thing...
:) he's a good boy
He's so patient and is allowing you to do every bit of grooming job❤
What a sweet and patient little guy. He just sat there and let you do your thing! Give that young Bear a sucker🥰
He is such a good, patient dog.😍😍 I'm melting. ❤

Ace1000ks1975 what about my dog
way cuter than a teddy bear
I have a Maltese and a Maltese poo... mom and son who are in badly need of a grooming session. I am so glad I came across your video before I headed to PetSmart. I have two well behaved dogs as well. After watching you. I think I got this in the bag. Fingers crossed my dogs will still love me after this DIY session or they will never talk to me again and go on Instagram live telling others dogs how their owner messed up their hair and they were embarrassed to be seen in public 😂
😂
Oh my god. I'm planning on adopting a Maltese and I hope she'll be as adorable and well-behaved as Bear.
I have a Pekingese Maltese for 12 years now. She’s always been very sweet tempered and well behaved. Of course she protects her territory (me) around other dogs. She actually loves running around and playing with kids!
I don't even have a dog....
:)
R. P. Me too 😂
Same
That is a crime. Everybody needs a dog.
DroneXFun, some people dislike dogs, I mean maybe they had a bad experience with them 🤷🏽♀️
I have seen this video more than 10 times and it still doesn't annoy me, every time I see it
I love it even more!😍
+Luna Basha lol thank you!! xo
What a good boy! He’s so trusting. I’m doing my first groom this week and know it won’t be this easy.
WOW! thank you so much . I have a small dog similar to yours and have been grooming him myself for awhile. watching your video is going to help us out a lot. Thanks for sharing. He seems to really enjoy the process
he literally is the cutest little fluff-ball!! I don't have a long fur dog but I can see how this can be very helpful for lots of people, thanks for sharing!!
***** hehe! Yes long fur dogs definitely take some work haha. If I didn't cut his hair it would be down to the floor... can you imagine?! haha.
I'm pet grommer and I must say the most important thing is to get your pet clean and well brushed, anything else it's only for estetical porpose, you did a great job but take in consideration he's a very well behaved dog, if it is not the case then let for a professional dot it, safety is the first thing about taking care of our babies! Great video!
Bear is adorable. Hope you and Bear have a long, long life together.
Awww, what a good boy. Lost my Maltese in January. I loved looking at your Bear looking into your eyes the way my Zoey used to look at me. Bear really is a good boy!
Aww what a cutie 😍 super adorable😊
I agree with another comment on here from a professional groomer: I am really impressed! In the professional grooming world we run into a lot of owners who perform home grooms that turn out horrendously and are done unsafely. You really have done your research on the tools and techniques.
I only have a few tips:
1) For a more even cut on the head, look into getting guard combs. You can attach them over the #10 blade you have. Start from the back of the head an run them forward over the top of the head towards the nose. It will create a uniform length and save time on trimming individual chunks. Lift the ear and skim the guard comb down the side of the face to create a rounder look and make both sides even.
2) Use the thinning shears to clean out his eye corners a little bit. You seem comfortable using regualr cshears, so the thinning shears would be easy to use and a lot safer :)
3) If you wanna play around with hand-scissoring, clean up the edges on his legs and under belly with straight-shears to create columns and a cleaner line.
4) This is nit-picky but.... Try holding your shears with your ring-finger and thumb instead of your middle finger and thumb. It creates a better sense of control.
5) OH!! You can use that 10 blade to clean out his paw-pads. Start from his toes and skim over his pads towards his heel, them scoop in that 'v' looking space between his "toe" pads and the big pad, never between the actual toes, though.
All-in-all he looks great and you have an incredible grasp on the basic knowledge of grooming. C:
SeahorseStereo GREAT TIPS and a really kind approach. You’re a great example on how to tell a person something without being unkind or making them feel bad.
I’m not a groomer I am a cosmetologist lol and I usually take my Maltese poodle mix to a groomer but ive decided to groom my own dog and thanks to your video I know what to do now ! Thank you ! Saves me $70
He’s so well behaved! Every time I go near my dog’s mustache, he gets so fidgety lol Awesome video btw!
Hi there, I randomly came across this searching for grooming tutorials. I'm a dog groomer. You've done pretty well. My only suggestion would be to use a clip comb set for a longer length. Since you like leaving him fluffy, there are combs you can attach to you #10 blade or a #30 blade. The clip combs do not heat up like the blade does, but the #10 blade underneath will heat up so be careful when you remove it. I would get a set. The Wahl clip comb set will fit on your andis blades, or any detachable A5. Getting a set will allow you to choose shorter clips in summer, or as long as an 1 inch. There's 8 of them and they go down 1/8 of an inch in length for each one, but beware of the 2 shortest lengths as they're very easy to nick you dog with them. I'm not knocking your home groom, you did fairly well. Grooming can be expensive. Just always use a coolant on your blade, and only use a #10 for his sanitary area. FYI shorter the blade, the quicker it will heat.
+Gennie Taylor thanks for the tips!
he looks adorable! as a groomer I definitely recommend using your #10 blade to trim his pads ( and sanitary area if needed ). It is much safer than using scissors :) always remember to keep your blades and scissors sharp! your comb is your best friend, clean, dry and straight hair cuts the best! keep up the good work :)
Fantastic! Bear is so sweet sitting so nicely for you. He looks great! Thank you.
😍😍He's such a good boy, my goodness. Praying that my puppy is this calm as I take care of her.
I love how he stays still, I cannot do that for nothing with mine!
I can't believe how well behaved your dog is! I think you should do a video on obedience training!
Haha I can believe it because mine is the same when She takes a bath and also I traveled with my Pup from
USA to Spain in cabin (airplane) and she was very quiet I am very proud of her
yesss plz
What a good, good, sweet boy you have! After watching your video I decided to groom my Schnoodle myself. I literally just finished his body (to my surprise he was so well behaved!) and he's looking great so far. I needed to consult your vid to see how to do his face. Your narration and time-lapse of the whole process has been super helpful, so thanks and well done!
So cute, and you did great for a home groom! As a pro groomer, I would agree with other groomers' comments below to always use a clipper for the paw pads, not a scissor, just for added safety and for better results! Your #10 would work fine, although most groomers use a #30. And I would also recommend using your thinners on the sides of the face to blend more. But overall, bravo! 👏👏👏
what a little sweetheart ;) such a good pup throughout the whole haircut!!
He is such a great sport!
He's such a good boy. I have a morkie and he goes BALLISTIC during bath and grooming
This was a great video. I’m Very encouraged. I am going to start grooming my own dogs. Mine come back from the groomer with burns and acting weird and scared. This quarantine sucks but I must say it has helped a lot of people realize some things we pay lots for can be done ourselves and this is one of them. I love you youtubers. Thanks for this video! Ignore negativity!
As a dog groomer I would recommend using the 10 blade you got with your clippers to shave his paw pad hair. Its the safest blade to use, and will eliminate the need to scissor the bottoms of his feet. Otherwise nice work, and you have a ton of knowledge as fair as safety and the actual hair cut goes(: Good job!
+Jessicaxwasxhere Thank you!!
Your really good at grooming dogs 😊
my mom is a dog groomer and she always wet the head last because it could make the dog uncomfortable
Btw I LOVE your dog
I love how he so calm and how you can tell he trust you
Thanks so much for showing how to groom!!! He's so cute❤️
he is so adorable he looks so much like my doggy :)
Omg how cuteee i melted
You did a great job! How adorable Bear is! He’s really well-behaved, too. Thank you for sharing. - Linda from Arizona
Adorable dog and great hair cut job. I can't believe he was so patient during the cut.
This helped a lot! I'm getting a little Maltese/bichon puppy in 4/5 weeks!
Im getting a maltese(a little maltese)tomorrow its gonna be a girl i dont know the name
+Soccer Stars Aww congrats! I got my little girl two weeks ago I named her marlee 😊
In my opinion this is the BEST you can do for your dog. Fortunately, I found a groomer that is AMAZING. I go to her house and she grooms my dog in front of me. However, I've always wanted to be able to groom my dog to save a buck lol and also because he is supper comfortable with me. I am terrified of taking him to another groomer or some place you drop him off and pick him later in the day. Not all groomers love their jobs and they will treat your dog like a rattle doll, without caring for their well being. Others are not patient and will restrain your dog in order to groom him/her fast. My dog suffers from anxiety and I know that will be a nightmare for him and I wouldn't feel comfortable. Thanks for this video.
Your dog is sooo well-behaved, my keeps jumping and spinning around :D. Thank you very much for this video!
What a lovely calm and well behaved dog ❤️
Great job! I would like to let people know there are safety scissors for the tips around it to work around the eyes instead of the ones that are sharp. The ones I bought at Petsmart have last a long time and stayed sharp. BTW my vet said because of our babies are a little heavy it’s hard on their joints to standing long. My Maltipoo was traumatized by the groomers. While they seemed fine . But came home with bloody diarrhea. The groomer when asked if they gave him any treats said that it was stress and so I had him check with the vet and it came down to that. Plus he has a knee and joint probiotics. So now I groom him. Sometimes he will be only half was groomed. We go at his and my pace. If one of us isn’t up to totally finishing we finish later. Let stress on us bot. Stress lowers everyone’s immune system. (shorter lifespan, if stressed) I hope this helps someone.
Gosh ur boy looks justttt like mine!! It's crazy how I don't even think I'd be able to pick mine out from a lineup of maltipoos :)) lol
Mine is a maltipoo. Lol idiot. Don't try and fucking correct me. I know what I said. You don't even know what the hell ur talking about.
ArianaGrandeVevo ' These commenters are fucking insane... 😂😂😂
ArianaGrandeVevo ' that's exactly what I said....what the..... Lol the world is full of crazy people
I am going to adopt a rescue Maltipoo next week and wondered if I would ever be able to groom her myself. Thank you for such a great video. I used to have to shave my cat, so I am used to clippers, but your video and the comments gave me so much more info! Thanks again.
I love the way he looks at you. I love you mommy... ♡ So many people want me to groom their dog. I'm retired from my pet business. Easy to get into, hard to get out!
Thanks for video. You saved a tight budget military family all those grooming bills!
I could listen to you read the dictionary. It's so soothing and oddly attractive. I hope you have a job where you utilize that superpower.
That's such a nice thing to say
Omg my morkie would never. I love how cooperative he is. Just so chill
Beautiful dog!!! He looks exactly like my female Maltese. Size, nose and all. It's so sweet how he looks at you like he knows that this is "business time".
すごい!綺麗になりましたね!
wow. I'm a groomer and it's been a while since I seen someone do a good job with their own dog! how did you learn this?
thank you! lots of practice and advice from groomers!
Oh my goodness…..too cute. I think I’ve watched this 5 times just because he sits so well and doesn’t move! I have a Matichon and bath time and grooming her is WILD 😂 Fun video thanks for sharing!
This is not as easy as you make it look. He's adorable!!! Great job
hes adorable, good job! thank for the tips, I've had such bad experiences at the groomers. I'm definitely going to try this at home :)
Everyone is a critic or a professional. You're doing a phenomenal job. You're both a team & so patient. Nice narrating very professional. My maltipoo will not sit still its very difficult to groom my Bonzo. . Thank you for posting.
Thank you❤️. I will watch this 50 more times before I attempt a trim 😂. Stay safe!
Thanks so much for all this info.
I Enjoyed.
I am about to try this on
My Puppy.
So another groomer tip from a groomer (lol) when you cut with the scissors and the thinning shears your ring finger goes into the other hole so that your index and middle finger supprts the body of the scissors and when you cut do not move those fingers. When you cut the only thing you should be moving is your thumb up and down. when you open and close your hand it makes it choppy if you just move you thumb you will get straight even cuts.also yes you can you the combs but if you could also come all the hair on the top of his head to the middle hold it with your fingers and then with your thinning shears go ahead and take as much as you want while still holding it this way when you let go it will lay naturally on his head. you can also hold the beard when youre cutting his face and just comb the hair down and cut wit out holding the hair and cutting. You will get a better idea of the outcome. ears suck to cut yes but if you left the ear bush all the hair on one side down you can go ahead and trim as much as you want then turn the ear so you have the hair on the other side and trim. I hope this helps and makes sense! lol
nessuhhh Thank you, yes it makes sense! I can always use tips like these :). I do find though that the shears make my fingers hurt after a while, so I tend to swap fingers as I go along. I suppose that's not the best thing to do!
that is most likely because of the handle on those shears those are better for humans really. if you would like more comfortable ones that won't cost you much at all you can go on eBay look up grooming shears and they are called king star. they are $15 for a pair of them they are pretty sharp and good for what they are. better however for someone that is just grooming they're dog at home rather then a groomer doing one dog after another.im glad I was able to help!

I got some curved grooming shears after this video was filmed and have been using those and they do seem a little better. I will look into those ones you mentioned as well :)
Just my opinion - I have been a groomer for many years - Please read up on using HARTZ's products - not so safe - so why take a chance??? there are so many other great products that are affordable such as WAHL products and so forth. Using a 10 blade will help keep the sany areas, under the ears and paw cleaning and safe to use. I also use a small hand clipper (mens clipper) for around the pads - this way there are no injuries. I have seen many at home videos and they are very scary - I did like yours and a tip should be you remain calm the dog will most likely as well.
Your dog is so chilled. You did a great job.😃
I just got a maltese pup. He's so energic as he always wants to play, he plays with everything in my hands as he attempts to bite them.
I think u did a great job. Even if ur not a pro. Hey ur taking care of him and thats all they want anyway
Tiffany Lawson Thank you!
When scissoring hold your shears in your thumb and ring finger. It's how they are meant to be held and it will give you much better control!
Also NEVER scissor over paw pads!!! It's very dangerous if he moves even the slightest and your about to close your shears you can do some serious damage. Use your 10 blade it's the safest blade. I personally use a 30 or 40 on paw pads just because I know what I'm doing and it's much easier then a 10 but if a 10 is what you have use it. Please don't use shears!!
+Kelsey Gillespie thanks, i'll have to try that. my fingers tend to get sore with the scissors so I admittedly switch them up throughout the process!
So happy to see your dog trimming video. Thank you for posting it.
Thank you for this. I’m about to groom my two Maltese myself for the first time while under Covid19 lockdown x
2019 anyone 🎉but it like 3 days until 2020 yassssss
I loved this, I have a miniature poodle and grooming is way to expensive. Her fur grows really fast so this is really useful! Thanks

this was actually the MOST informative clip i have watched. i am wanting to cut my own dog but no one talks about what blade to use or even the fact to WASH the dog first. THANK YOU ,, so many of us watching these are total BEGINNERS and we need to know every step. GREAT CLIP
Bear is absolutely gorgeous ❤ 🐾 ❤! thank you so much for an excellent diy dog grooming video - you taught me heaps 🙏
Wish my puppy would stay calm like yours!! How do you do that😭😭
You just gotta be calm with him or her
i can't do this.. i am so scared cutting hair around his eyes :(
you can always stake her to a pet salon and ask to cut it no worries
Thank you
+Jennifer Ortiz Just make sure you pull the stake out before leaving :D
MaZEEZaM Thankk youuu
lol, Sorry, had to pick up on the typo :D
He's such a good boy, i wish mine would keep still like that. Good video. 😊
For not liking baths and grooming he is being very, very patient. It's amazing you can get this accomplished without a restraint or a grooming table.
