- Cheers to 2x2 Games for giving me early access to the game.
Honestly, after playing loads of WW2 wargames that just have awful controls, it's really nice to play one where it's really simple to play and just complex to master. Obviously I've got a lot to learn but Unity of Command is honestly good fun. Just wish the tutorial was better.

First of all rimmy play the game more, but also if you right click on the game in your steam library somehwere in that menu there should be an option for "view manual". Sometimes devs put nice easter eggs there.

Ahh, I see the AI still uses any weak spot in your lines to ruthlessly cut off your army from supply.
I remember playing the first game and loosing like... 4 tanks and some motorized because i didn't know what a supply was. That was a painful day of learning.
@@Karthage922 The worst part is when every single mechanized and armoured enemy unit decides to snake their way through the one wide gap you accidentally left, and promptly gets surrounded and annihilated....buuut because of this you miss one target for a decisive victory...

Why won't they? I see that smart. At 1st I was frustrated and then, holy sht, that was good. And made me realize I was playing the 1st game wrong. Nope you don't win by eleminating the enemy. You win if made them starve. And it became a big game of snake between me and the AI trying to cut our tails off. Literally almost every time I played Unity of Command: Red Turn is a Soviet trying to steal supplies from the Nazis. Where almost all turns I'm looking at a red and black lines parallel to each other and whoever breaks the line wins. And it's not easy to recover from. I restarted entire games when I saw my red line broke.

Yes Rimmy. They are real maps, of real places. They would look similar.
I remember playing the first one! Had quite a shock when I ended my first turn and watched the Germans just completely tear my mistakes to shreds. (Also funny because their first action was to *pull out* of Stalingrad, meaning the devs designed an AI with a better strategic sense than Hitler).

@@redsnowleopard He saved a lot of British commandos and Jews from being executed (You're probably thinking how do those correlate but basically Hitler ordered every captured British commando to be executed on the stop)

Thanks for the video. I checked it out, seems like a great little "war puzzle" game. It's interesting how often I find myself taking the historical course. It's always good to have a game's mechanics reinforce it's setting.

The italians didn't have a lot going for them in ground battles, but they _did_ have what was probably the world's best mountain troops at the time. After WW1, many countries basically prepared to fight the same war again only more so, and for Italy that meant mountain battles, so that's what they poured most of their training and resources into. So fighting them entrenched in rough hill/mountain terrain...yeah, that's gonna be a Bad Time :P.

steam games often have manuals in PDF form inside the folder for the game; you can right click it on steam to check local files.
others have them under tools or other weird things, but the PDF thing is pretty standard

if you go into your steam library and right click on the game title, in the context menu there should be a "Read the user manual" option. There is one for Warlock Master of Arcane for me on steam. Similar story for games on GOG, you expand context menu and go to Backup&Goodies and there should be a Manual.
The Italians were double entrenched.
Single entrench has a shovel icon double has a wall icon.
Use special attacks to unsupress them (not available for the unit you were using). Those Italians are the toughest unit I have met yet ! lol

Rimmy I would recommend that you try Battlestations pacific if you haven't tried it yet, it's a quite fun naval management game set in the pacific theatre.
Sport ball is my faviroute too
On my first try, half of the German forces just rushed middle and took Kasserine, the second half absolutely destroyed British 1st in the north and the third half (!) somehow managed to hold south against two of my armies.
i love it ols make more, and btw the thing with the unkillable italliens are quite realsitic some itallien troops hold the allied forces in africa long enugh to save rommels life on his retreat he later said "The german infanterie impressed the world and the itallien infantery impressed the germans" (but in german of course)

Above the brigade would be the division, there is no size between that I know of
if you're interested in more ww2 turn based strategy games, try World Conqueror 3, it's basic in every way even with some historical inaccuracies!

I wish you could get an improvement for the New Zealand troops that's called the Hakka which gives them extra attacking damage.
Manual is more than likely in the game files, so check there. Alternatively, google it.

It looks like 1942 frozen front and 1943 Pacific Front, just without the whole “pay the micro transactions or your army can’t even move and doing it for free will take longer than the actual military campaigns”

Do you mean the bombing of Dresden? They still find bombs there on a regular basis. Not only there but in all kinds of places . Just 2 weeks ago they found a 500kg bomb about 20km from where i live.

I didn't know Rimmy played Lax! If he ever sees this what position did you play? I was a defender and tended to stay around the crease and watched the guy at X, that meant I also got to beat the crap out of people with a 6ft metal rod and rarely ever got hit back
