- Jazz is a music genre that originated in the African-American communities of New Orleans, Louisiana, United States, in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with its roots in blues and ragtime. Since the 1920s Jazz Age, it has been recognized as a major form of musical expression in traditional and popular music, linked by the common bonds of African-American and European-American musical parentage. Jazz is characterized by swing and blue notes, complex chords, call and response vocals, polyrhythms and improvisation. Jazz has roots in West African cultural and musical expression, and in African-American music traditions.
As jazz spread around the world, it drew on national, regional, and local musical cultures, which gave rise to different styles. New Orleans jazz began in the early 1910s, combining earlier brass-band marches, French quadrilles, biguine, ragtime and blues with collective polyphonic improvisation. In the 1930s, heavily arranged dance-oriented swing big bands, Kansas City jazz, a hard-swinging, bluesy, improvisational style and gypsy jazz (a style that emphasized musette waltzes) were the prominent styles. Bebop emerged in the 1940s, shifting jazz from danceable popular music toward a more challenging "musician's music" which was played at faster tempos and used more chord-based improvisation. Cool jazz developed near the end of the 1940s, introducing calmer, smoother sounds and long, linear melodic lines.
The mid-1950s saw the emergence of hard bop, which introduced influences from rhythm and blues, gospel, and blues, especially in the saxophone and piano playing. Modal jazz developed in the late 1950s, using the mode, or musical scale, as the basis of musical structure and improvisation, as did free jazz, which explored playing without regular meter, beat and formal structures. Jazz-rock fusion appeared in the late 1960s and early 1970s, combining jazz improvisation with rock music's rhythms, electric instruments, and highly amplified stage sound. In the early 1980s, a commercial form of jazz fusion called smooth jazz became successful, garnering significant radio airplay. Other styles and genres abound in the 2000s, such as Latin and Afro-Cuban jazz.

😀WHY BAD DAY??? RAINY DAY IS A GOOD DAY FOR THOSE, WHO ADORES RAIN AND COOL WEATHER..
I was supposed to go to a date but she canceled and left for another guy. I put on my slacks, tucked in my white dress shirt, rolled the sleeves up, and left the top two buttons undone. I parted my hair to the side with some gel, put some cologne on my wrists and my neck and played this jazz while sitting and enjoying a nice smoke with a small glass of red wine. After that i went and made myself a nice steak dinner. Ive never cooked before but I did a nice job creating my own recipe. I sat down at the head of my table with a nice dinner in front of me with a candle lit and a white napkin under my fresh silverware. I listened to the jazz and ate my food, remembering that i made a date for myself with myself. I feel handsome, calm, and classy. If you ever get left by yourself I suggest doing what i have done. Its very nice and makes anything better

Rain is the new nostalgia. Sitting here in drought-stricken California remembering rain like it's chocolate and oranges during the war. I'm sipping a martini and reading Denys Wortman's New York... Drawings of people in the 1930s and '40s lining up for food, people exhausted from working, the canyon between the rich and the poor. Nothing has changed, and yet that's somehow comforting. Just here to enjoy the moment of feeling connected to the bigger picture.

These sounds make me just wanna be held close by that special someone. 2 glasses of wine, candles and a crackling fire, with a downpour outside in the winter. Or just laying around on a early Sunday morning, me and that special someone, he's laying his head on my lap and my feet are kicked up on the coffee table and we're both reading the paper. After enjoying brunch.
This makes me feel like I'm a main character in a show or movie walking through a city at night while it's raining thinking about my life or my love life.

It was a lonely night in New York city. Harvey didnt have anyone to talk to at the coffee shop, but the music made him fell like his life is perfect. A girl approached him, Donna. They talked for a while, now Harvey goes to that coffee shop just in Hope's to see that girl, know more about her.
But Donna found a cafe that played Evans, Coltraine, Brubeck, and Davis, and Harvey never saw her again.
This is necessary in northern California, while in the midst of a megadrought, we can only imagine rainy visions!
My daughter has story time and a nap to this everyday… and it makes her sleep like an angel. Thanks so much for this!
Feels like a ride through Houston ,seeing all the lights lit up on buildings and far off petroleum plants and the airports. Late evening during the week. Riding in a nice floaty car like a town car with plush seats and the jazz on the stereo. Heading to dinner at a nice restaurant. All dressed to the nines. A little slow dancing to the live soft jazz . Candles. Dim light. Coco Chanel perfume. Ahhh the 80s. Of course ,it could be Hollywood and Burbank back then too. Memories.

This reminds me of the film One Night Stand (1997). Though no one remembers it and it was a complete flop when it released, I still think that it was a nice little pre-2000s examination of love, friendship and faith with terrific jazz music by Mike Figgis. In a rainy evening, near the window of my upstairs room, I am sitting watching nothing but darkness and cars passing by with the sound of the water splashing. I can see some rain because of the cars' lights. A couple talking and laughing holding hands under the umbrella. I feel their happiness. Now, my loved one texting me to have a chat. This is the perfect time to talk to them. The trees in the garden move as a little wind blows. My cup of tea is ready and hot. I can't think of anything negative; the world is in peace, everyone is happy and safe. I feel like it is Utopia. No, I am not on this planet, I am off world. Um cara em uma escada de incêndio de um cortiço está tocando sax, uma reminiscência de Jeru. A música entra pela porta entreaberta da cozinha do café. A noite está caindo rápido, mas o sax está sendo tocado devagar e para baixo em uma varanda, alguém começou a tocar trompete com um mudo como Miles.
