I'm a student pilot that is approaching my checkride and I'm so glad I found this podcast because it really helps you get a good understanding in an organized way of how to be prepared for the checkride. I haven't found any other channels or videos like this, especially telling it from a DPE's perspective. Thank you for making this series!

Agreed. My checkride is 12 days away. The slightly different approach/angle has shown me some areas I haven't considered yet. So a "Thank You" from me too.
How did you guys check ride go ?
@@mojo7618 1st go, cancelled due to Wx.
2nd go, passed ground portion, flight portion cancelled due to wobbly VOR antenna. (Wx perfect by the way)
3rd go, scheduled for Jan 2.
@mojo7618 passed mine in September. Oral portion went great, flight portion was tough and my DPE was veeeeeeeery different from seth, but I passed.
Getting ready for my checkride. This podacst is so useful! Just finshed listening, but will go over it again and again. I am so glad Seth went beyond just bare requirements but spoke a lot about actual skills and safe airmanship. Thanks Seth! Leanred much from it

Really appreciate this series! Thank you. It appears to be difficult to get a DPE to talk to you and give you insight into what to expect. I greatly appreciate your perspective and I’ve learned things not conveyed by my instructor and at least one thing I’ve been instructed in error.

Seth I usually don't comment on most of the CZcams videos; but this is a game changer! My best guess is that I may get schedule for a check ride by the first week of May! I wanted to respond because I don't want you to think this is falling on death ears! Thanks for the gouge on the Type Certificate Data Sheets! I've printed and placed in my study binder! Just for fun a little bantering: Go Navy! Beat Air Force! (Not an academy grad; just a supporting retiree (37yrs) with enlisted and commissioned officer time, with no broken service!) Love your ACS Preparation series here - My PPL Checkride is mid-May and getting a good idea of how DPE's are using the CS to guide the process is very useful (At least for me :-) - Amazing work Seth! Thanks for putting this out for all of us to use. I'll look into getting the ACE guide, but I have my system for now (it would have been good to start with it :-) - Ill make publicity fo rit here around other students
Tremendous i loved it, was one of the people who did not understand anything about ACS, but now u opened my eyes, although I start my flight lessons in January 2022 but still I will prepare from now on when the day of the DPE arrives that I do not be a headache, but Iam prepared like a professional.... THX

I feel like this should be required listening/watching for private pilot students after a few flights. I didn't know anyone could download the ACS to see what would be tested on during the check ride. Now I know what I need extra focus on, and examples of what could catch me off guard. Thank you!

I live In Crsossville. Born and brought up in India. Migrated in 1998 to NY. While growing @16 I was dreaming to become a Pilot end up working for KLM as ground staff lol.
Kids, interesting life, achieving goals life got busy behind taking care of Family and make sure Kids will have best Life and Education, by the time realizes now I am 53 years younger lol
Kids are gone now it my time !
So fare I have taken 9 flying lessons and over come fear of flying/heights. Decided to prepare my self first for written exam and clear the exam and buy 150 and get lessons and fly more and gain knowledge consistently of safe flight.
Today I come across your channel and finished listening to you all 4 episodes of ACS.
Very impressive and I will listen to all, over and over and make cheat sheet till I pass my PPL.
You are very blessed. Thank you for uploading and passing your knowledge to the world.

Hey I just passed my private pilot checkride and this series really helped. I watched it twice through. Thank you! If you could do a video on the high power / complex / tail dragger endorsements, that'd be great! Those are my first steps in mind.

@@SethLakeDPE Yes I will definitely be doing a mountain flying flight and also a glider endorsement down the road. Not sure what I should do first...might get checked out in a 182 or cherokee 6

It sure takes a lot of practice. Student pilot. Just flew today working on my steep turns, slow flight, S turns - I did grease my landing.

Seth, thanks so much for these great videos describing what to expect during my PPL check ride! I was not aware of the 90 day endorsement limits and as someone who is training at a slower pace due to finances/work schedule/weather, I am doubting whether I'll be able to attain my License. I have already passed the written 9 months ago and are at 24 hours, have soloed and completed one x-country. Any suggestions?! I'm 61 and hoping to make it!

Don't give up! In the past, I've taught working professionals in their 50s and 60s. On average, it takes them about a year to get the requirements done. This isn't a bad thing. With the right instructor willing to support you, you will get to experience all your local weather throughout the year which will give you better overall training.
Stay positive and keep working at it. It may take longer than you imagined, but you will get there.
Hey Seth! Dude I'm loving these. They help so much for checkride prep. I'm getting ready for my CFI ride so I've made a huge CFI notebook with all kinds of lessons, etc. but one thing I've been trying to find/make is like a spreadsheet or checklist that has all of the endorsements & required items an applicant would need, whether they're trying to get their initial private or comm. OR a compiled list of endorsements they'd need if they wanted to add on a SEL rating to an existing license. I've made a checklist of the endorsements & req. items, etc that a "0hr to private" checkride student or commercial applicant would need, but the add-ons are the hard ones to work through. Have you used or made a list like that or do u know of any flight training books/companies that may have something like that or do u just do the endorsements for add-on guys on just a case by case basis?? Thanks!
Sounds like your going to be well prepared for your CFI! Add-on ratings are pretty diverse and (for the most part) fall within 61.63. Depending on if its a additional category or class will impact what you need to endorse them for. For example, a commercial helicopter pilot seeking a commercial airplane add-on rating will need to complete all of the training and aeronautical experience required by 61.172 and 61.129. This endorsement would look different than a commercial single engine airplane pilot adding a multi engine commercial rating which doesn't require the pilot meet the training or aeronautical experience since it is just a class rating.
Long story short, add-on ratings should be handled as a case by case basis. Keep up the good work!
