    I'm a CFI who's used Seth several times for check rides, especially multi rides. He's a total professional and is easy to work with. Fees are reasonable and I always enjoy working with VSL. Great job on the podcast Seth.

    There are a number of check ride preparation videos on CZcams and some of them interview DPE's but this is the first one I have found done by a DPE. Great job. Not only am I more informed about what to expect I think I will be more relaxed.

    Thank you for putting these together. An excellent introduction to a document that is crucial to success. Many instructors fail to spend enough time here with their students. The ACS, for me, is the boiler plate for all training.

    • @SethLakeDPE
      @SethLakeDPE  Před 2 lety

      Glad it was helpful! I agree that the ACS doesn't get covered in training enough. I think a lot of instructors just say "and here's the ACS. The DPE will use it to give you your checkride tomorrow. You should probably read it tonight"...

    Great stuff....I have listened repeatedly to your podcasts on the PP ACS. I am an old guy who decided to learn to fly at 62 years old. My Check Ride is in 3 days. Your videos have really helped. You are able to cut through to the information necessary and I view your presentations as training enhancement for what I am learning locally.

    one of the most useful checkride vidoes I saw and I saw many. makes me admire airforce in picking and training such high quality people. thank you for sharing the insider point of view. it gives a higher perspective that makes many otherwise subtle points make sense and digestable.

    Thanks for sharing Man, these are really great videos! I’m getting ready for the check-ride pretty soon out at North Little Rock, I need to freshen up on some of these subjects, I’m a little bit of an introvert and I’m bad about freezing up if I’m put on the spot, I’m a little fearful of the check-ride, I’m always afraid of answering the questions wrong

    Do you have any tips or hints on this new ACS for IFR pilot checkride? have a bunch of work to do to be comfortable with everything to complete the checkride but I'm working on it, would like to see what you think about the changes on ACS after July 2024

    • @SethLakeDPE

      Yes, the multi add-on checkride includes a single engine instrument approach which allows you to exercise your instrument privileges in a multi as well as a single engine aircraft.

    For the National Airspace System skills section, what are considered SFRA and SATR? I fly out out of Long Island NY, so I was wondering what would my DPE give for my scenario. Thank you!

    • @SethLakeDPE
      @SethLakeDPE  Před rokem

      New York has an SFRA over the Hudson River. Check out the FAA TAC VFR planning chart for the New York area. You can find it in the document section of ForeFlight. I would venture to guess your examiner would ask something about the Skyline route.

  • @CHARLESBW453
    @CHARLESBW453 Před 2 lety

    I was wondering how a check ride with a Ercupe knowing that some of the maneuvers cannot be accomplished in an aircraft that cannot stall. And the flight characteristics are dissimilar from most aircraft, how would you go about the check ride?

    • @SethLakeDPE
      @SethLakeDPE  Před 2 lety

      Great question. I've never done a checkride in a Ercoupe. I do have a few hours in one though so I'm familiar enough to know that most aren't equipped with rudder pedals and braking is done with a single hand brake. 61.45(b)(2) allows for aircraft to be used that precludes an applicant from performing all the tasks, but the rating will be issued with an appropriate limitation.
