  • This video shows detailed tips on how we designed and installed a tire water tank in a pasture using a John Deere 1025R Compact Utility Tractor with a factory-installed 260 Backhoe. This tire tank automatically refills when the water level drops below a certain point.

    Those cows are going to take a quick dip in that tire pool and break all those pretty pipes and floats. Lol

    A trencher would have made easy fast work of that I would think.

    great idea BUT howw do you wash it out when it gets nasty ???

      I guess you wish it clean.

      @mckennaaanonli4349 Před 5 lety

      Yeah..it never gets clean and the tire water taste isnt appealing to them after it heats in the sun. The only appeal is to the few cows who think it's a pool and try to fit in it to go swimming all the while breaking all the pretty plumbing inside

    How long did it take you to dig that trench with that toy backhoe?

  • @randallhighsmith3406
    @randallhighsmith3406 Před 6 lety +8

    Why didnt you use a ditch witch? Looks like a mess with that little backhoe.

    • @scottoglesby5625
      @scottoglesby5625 Před 6 lety +2

      Because it is a John Deere video and John Deere doesn't build a trencher.

      Because John deere don't sell ditch witches silly!

    Couple concerns. One being why you used a tire. Is there any possibility of chemicals in the rubber dissolving into the water? That seems like a really small “trough” for that many cows, will this be a problem on hot days? Second, why is it right under a barbed wire fence?

    • @MLJenkins
      @MLJenkins Před 6 lety +2

      I can't answer your other questions, but as far as the tank being under the barbed wire, it is common to do that so the trough can be shared by two pastures, hence reducing the number of troughs required per your number of sections of pasture. I'm not for or against this, I've just seen it done many times in the past with troughs. Even the more expensive auto horse waterers folks will put them in between the fence section so they can be shared (of course this solution is more expensive, but much safer and cleaner looking for horse farms).

      Keep cattle from wrecking water valve?

    • @deshaunjackson8188
      @deshaunjackson8188 Před 3 lety

      The trough can literally be any size if it is self filling.

  • @nandoelgancho
    @nandoelgancho Před 5 lety +6

    Is this healthy ? lots of chemicals leach out of rubber tires.

  • @SUDSY0
    @SUDSY0 Před 3 lety

    Keep that green paint waxed. Its the most valuable part on those mini tractors.

    How does it handle winter freezing?

    • @JohnDeere
      @JohnDeere  Před 5 lety +2

      Hi Sally, thanks for reaching out! The tank will get ice on it just as any water source would. As long as the tank is full it will not freeze solid, however you may have to break the ice daily. On a sunny day, the black tire absorbs heat and can delay the water freezing over. The tank's close proximity to the ground also allows it to absorb some natural heat from the ground. We hope this helps!
