I am an amateur woodworker, who built desks, bookshelves and beds. This channel, in my opinion, is one of the best woodworking channels because it skips on flashy and sensational, and teaches you how to solve problems in a sensible and realistic way, and is transparent about flaws, messups and plans that don't work out.
Thanks!
I love the fact that you are working. Not doing dumb youtube things that people do when they get popular. You're still grinding it out and I love watching this!
I guess that’s the trick to this kind on content, just staying unpopular hahahahaha.
HB Looking 👀 very good, shame about the weather, I have had about 3/4 days of nice weather, back to more rain tomorrow for the next week or so, good luck everyone, have a great weekend,
My forecast is about the same
Looking good Caitlin. I hope that security film dries out.
Me too
Those doors are beautiful! I would have gone insane from all that coping but it does look great!
Not going to lie I tried to talk myself into just doing miters. But, now that it’s done I’m happy I sucked it up and did the copes
Great job doors are looking fantastic, have to say I’ve never used the security film, will be interested to see if it does clear itself, roll on the installation 👌👌👌👍👍👍🇦🇺
I'm going to try putting them in the sun today to hopefully expedite the drying.
Cutest maker on CZcams. 😊❤❤❤❤❤❤
What an Amazing & Professional work you have done there. One can see exceptional quality in your work from miles away. Keep it up 👍🏻
Thanks
Incredible work, as always. Enjoy your weekend!
You enjoy your weekend too
Very Nice work as always looking very good!!!👌👍💯
Hi HB, you are an exceptional maker!!! You may not think so, however your ability and your humbleness makes you a Supreme maker. I continue to look forward to your videos. Have a great week! Timothy
You have a great week too
Beautiful work and perfectly judged coverage in the videos. There's something immensely satisfying about fitting those fixed door top and bottom sliding locks. I've only done a few but they are so effective and discrete. (Oh nostalgia is so much better looking back!) Looking forward to the install. Have a good weekend HB and fingers crossed for the security film to come good.
Thanks! I hope that film clears up too
Good evening H. B. Just wanted to say that , again another fine project completed. These doors are extremely nice. I like what you said about talking yourself into doing the coping. After being on a project with the amount of time you have invested into it, it’s very easy to maybe look the other way to be done sooner. But deep down you knew, and bit the bullet and kept on to have it not only right, but second guess free in the back of your mind. You rock girl ! Can’t wait to see it installed including the hardware if possible. I’m just going to guess here , but I’m thinking that this project and the past project , “ The Aedicule “. Have worked out close to maybe about the same as far as your direction going forward with each job , building jigs, figuring just the right amount of lumber, best way of part assembly and test fitting and of course your time involved. Would you favor one over the other.
Absolutely gorgeous wood and the doors are beauties!
I agree, the grain especially on the stile with the skeleton key lock is very pretty.
Tons of information.. well done.
Thanks!
Can't wait for the install! I'm sure it will turn out fine as usual.
Based on the amount of research required for this build, the time required to build it, time to film and edit I have come to the conclusion that you don't ever sleep. LOL
This door will make a statement wherever it is installed.
Thanks again for sharing your knowledge and work methods.
Have a great week.
Hahaha. There was a big learning curve on the info needed for exterior doors. Those books were a huge time saver.
They look fantastic! Coping is a longer process. But the best way to do the job! That tree must have been under a great deal of tension for sure! Nice job!
Thanks. I agree about coping.
In your happy place.
Congratulations on finishing (just about, and hopefully speaking) this huge project!
Thanks
Nice series and great job on the doors . Coping the beading would have done my head in, but understand why you did it.
There’s gonna be a lot of weight with double glazing did you ever think about putting the centre hinge higher up towards the top hinge like you see on fire doors to stop sag ? Will you have enough gap when installing to put hinge block because I noticed the screws were sticking out of frame with lost of grip for screw (hope you know what I mean )Again great job would like to see them installed when you get round to it
They are heavy but I’m not super worried about the weight because they are easily 6 inches in width, smaller then a normal sized door. Just as a lifting gauge they feel about the same as carrying others doors I have around. But I used four hinges on each side just in case. I’m not following what you mention in the second half of the comment.
Super! rr, Normandy, Fra.
Great video. The threshold hardware looks great, I will have to remember that for future projects. I had to abandon double doors on my current project because of its exposure and water intrusion. I too will worry about that glass clearing up🤞.
You referenced ’the book’
Would you share the link please?
Impressive to say the least. I see now how you sealed end grain with the thinned epoxy. Are you actually as patient as you appear? If not, ya got me fooled!
Definitely not.
Bet you’re glad to have the door done. Never fails your always short lumber before you finish the project and replacement wood never matches.
Really happy to have these done. I do enjoy projects that do not have a definitive deadline because it removes a lot of stress from the job. But, when you are working on things in bits and pieces over the course of a few months, the finishing touches really drag on.
The windows went to level 10..wow.
6:43 If you are diluting it, wouldn't you be making it *less* viscous?
Ya got me
RTV = Room Temperature Vulcanization
Yep
Sapele isn't cheap... $14/board ft. Yikes. Its like measure 4x and then wait a day, then cut once!
This 8/4 Sapele was 9.25 a BF. I had no room for error though, and was sweating it until all the main pieces fit.
