A classic story that shows that with family by your side and a little imagination you can get through anything!
Honestly, just watch all of Miyazaki's films, from Nausicaa and the birth of studio Ghibli, to his latest and likely last film, The Boy and the Heron, he delivers amazing works of art!

Most of the other anime reactors do not understand the subtle implies and signs in this movie, but you surely did get them! I'm really impressed and enjoyed your reaction! And yes, it's always fun to watch male reactors all related to KANTA's feeling.

You are right. The Susuwatari (soot sprites) were from this movie and then used again in Spirited Away.
To me, this movie is part of a series of movies that are loosely connected. They are all based in the same part of Japan. Tonari no Tototro shows how it was before development. Pom Poko shows how it gets developed. Whisper of the Heart takes place in a similar location after development. And The Cat Returns is based on a story written by a character in Whisper of the Heart. They don't have to be watched as a series, but I feel they speak stronger if you do.
I have introduced so many kids to this movie. So beautiful. So many layers of culture.

Studio Ghibli hit me with a copyright strike recently so I haven’t been reacting to their movies, but I hope to get back to them soon as I’ve loved all I’ve seen so far!
@@JustAGuyReacts Not sure if it makes a difference if you do the Dubbed versions (most of them are through Disney) or subtitled (which should be through Ghibli itself). Just be careful. Nausicaa, one of my favorite Miyazaki movies (technically pre-Ghibli), was first dubbed so horribly, Miyazaki swore NEVER to let his movies be dubbed again. It took Disney to convince him to reconsider and they gave him FULL final approval on everything. Nausicaa (both manga and original anime) is amazing. But the first dubbed version was a disaster.
