  • One of his last recordings of the stalwart at his home 'Mritunjaya' at Dharwad. It was recorded after his kidney operation and still recurperating. He was 81.The camera has been placed behind due to the space constraints. Nevertheless its a great recording...

Such a child like innocence and such a divine craft ! Oblivious to bodily ailments. This region of Northern Karnataka has produced men and women who are internally spiritual. They pay no heed to their physical comfort. They simply thrive on unpretentious pursuit of the divine. Long live Anna's music and may he continue to enthrall the heavens with his innocent craft. 🙏

@Uday2310 : The fact that he was 81 with undiagnosed lung cancer, makes this more out-of-the world performance! Only geniuses can excel over their 'kaya' to perform like this! Great artists like him are above pain, agony, misery and frailties!

His spirit for pure Classical vocal music of Autroli Jaipur Gharana is really great at ripen matured age. No break in his rendition, how was it possible for him.

Pt.Mallikarjun Mansur was an incredible singer, in part because of his single minded devotion to music. one can't think of any other artist who can sing in his BREATHLESS style, he would be singing most of the time with very little pauses. it is perhaps an integral part of indian classical which is heavily dependent on human voice and very little instruments for accompaniment.
Thank`s naveenbharathi for uploading this rare LIVE Video.

Pandit Mallikarjun Mansurji's Music is divine, sublime and immortal! He lives on in our lives and hearts through his mesmerizing music and his disciples like his son, Pandit Rajasekhar Mansurji! We are indeed fortunate to be able to listen to his recorded music! I consider myself singularly unfortunate not to have heard his live music concert even once.

Uday ji, the 'breathless' style is signature style created by Ud Alladiya Khan, handed down to Pt Mansur by Ud Manji Khan, son of Ud Alladiya Khan. In this style, each beat of the rhythm cycle is taken as a single unit and embellished with patterns using notes close to each other, with gamak. The rhythmic pattern with gamaks has origin in Dhrupad as Ud Alladiya Khan was trained in Atrauli tradition which had strong dhrupad influence. He created a style which was unique and came to be recognised as Atrauli Jaipur Gharana. Jaipur because he spent a long time in Jaipur Rajasabha before moving to Bombay. We can hear the purest form of this gayaki from Kesarbaiji, Mogubaiji and Mansurji.
This is what I can offer. Namaste
